Soldier asks, "Who are these idiots" [voting for McCain]?
dailykos.com — "As I sit here in Iraq on the 9th month of a 15 month tour, my frustration seems to grow more and more...Comparing John McCain to Barack Obama is like comparing a GED to a Masters Degree. McCain is so out of it that it does't make sense to me that so many people are still supporting this guy... Are they idiots and who are they anyways?"

Second of all, I ask myself that question every day, every hour, every minute. It is mindboggling. I have yet to meet one of these people face to face. But when I do, it'll be all I can do to restrain myself from asking him/her: WTF are you thinking?!

- eastwood24, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8Living in the suburban heartland, I feel like im at the epicenter of McCain's supporters. But I have made a few interesting observations. First, I have yet to see hardly any McCain 4 prez type stickers on the back of the SUVs. In fact, ive seen several Obama stickers and signs and I would venture to guess there are more people still displaying there support for McCains Republican rival Ron Paul still than McCain. Second, the few bars that are in this 'utopian' mini-mall society seem to be more packed than ever. Maybe more people are saying "screw this 'American Dream'. I can't afford the gas, I'm going to the bar to loosen up for a change" I know booze was instumental in my political re-education and enlightenment. Finally and most importantly, I think never-say-die republican voters are even having a hard time convincing themselves about the direction this country has gone this decade. From National debt growth, to international standing in the world, to first hand witnessing of their savings disappear as the value of their house just keeps dropping, too many of the 'Patriotic Americans' are realizing the price that came with their blind political support.
- dognadz, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1Really now, what did happen to Ron Paul's campaign? He never officially dropped out. The lack of attention from big media has whittled it down to two candidates wayyyyy before any conventions. Here in Nebraska Ron was buried in very small type on the bottom of the ballot in the primaries. Personally, I think we should recount the last 3 general elections by a show of hands.
- marytnurse, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2i for one can't believe how many trust fund babies are taking their toys and going home just because they can't have their way for once; sure it's a very important issue, but GROW UP and LEARN to compromise!!! geezus!! is this REALLY how you expect a leader to act????
