The Adler Planetarium and McCain’s Fake War on Earmarks
newsroom-l.net — McCain's slur about the Adler projector reveals both the slovenly nature of the his campaign's opposition research as well as a disconnect from reality. This is a high-tech scientific educational project, not an entertainment device.

- ScaryUK, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6This is one of the many things I didn't understand from the debate last night... what is the problem with spending money on a Planetarium projector? It's an educational device and with the US laging behind the rest of the world when it comes to science can they really afford not to have one?
- thepoliticalcat, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2The problem with spending money on science is that a populace educated in the critical thinking skills demanded by science can more easily see through the ***** peddled by Republicans. The party will die a natural death and right soon if it doesn't come up with a way to peddle Teh Stupid in injectable form.
- joand315, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2It must be millions of children from Chicago and around the state that have at one time or another sat in the darkness of the Adler Planetarium theatre and been inspired by the stars above projected on the ceiling.
For city seeing all those star is revelatory. Not only do they project the star of today, but what the sky looked like during important historical events. When I was a kid, they even showed what the sky looked like on Christmas.
Ever since I saw the show with the rest of my class from Infant Jesus of Prague, I've been interested in the stars, space and science fiction. It certainly enriched my life, and it would be sad to think those lights would ever be allowed to go out. - MoneyTutor, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1I have always been a believer that McCain didn't understand the projects or their importance and subsequently classified them as pork. This goes with his impetuous nature and lack of understanding.
