'Banned' Bush Video Surfaces:''Wall Street Got Drunk"
huffingtonpost.com — An ABC-TV outlet in Houston, and now the Houston Chronicle, have posted a video taken at a political fundraiser for Pete Olson, featuring George W. Bush last week -- capturing some embarrassing/revealing moments after, he noted, he had asked cameras to be turned off.

...wait for it
YAWN....- CryRightardCry, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Wow, that's a shock.
A right wing extremist shill willing to just give Bush a pass on another example of his inadequacy?
Hey, thanks for defending that corrupt failure and pretending like you were actually going to be objective about it.
So, still warmongering, I see. I can't help but notice you still haven't enlisted to fight the fights you claim are vital to America. Doesn't that make you a cowardly *****? Are you proud to cheer for war from the safety of your couch?
Honestly I find people like you revolting. I can't image much worse than actually believing the crap you spout and still being too cowardly to do what you claim must be done. It makes me sick to think that people like you think you are somehow morally or ethically superior to ANYTHING, and it also flies in the face of the facts.
But I'm glad you enjoy deceiving your fellow Americans. What a patriot you are.
I wasn't going to bother to digg this, since example of Bush idiocy are easy to come by, but I'm digging it just for you.
- CryRightardCry, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Wow, that's a shock.
- wonderchemist, on 07/22/2008, -12/+25"And then we got a housing issue... not in Houston, and evidently not in Dallas, because Laura's over there trying to buy a house. [great laughter] I like Crawford but unfortunately after eight years of sacrifice, I am apparently no longer the decision maker."
OMG! He's stepped down as THE DECIDER! - thatfunman, on 07/23/2008, -15/+9Bad jokes, Canned laughter. What's wrong with those people?
- smt12, on 07/23/2008, -8/+68I can't say I'm a Bush fan, but come on this really isn't bad.
In fact I'd say it's a pretty good description of the problem. People get drunk and do ***** they shouldn't (boatloads of sub-prime loans), and then they suffer the consequences (ie the hangover).
Unfortunately in this case the hangover is being felt by more than just the drinkers.- mk3k, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6Yea they got the buzz (money) at least. We just get the hangover.
- Sifl, on 07/23/2008, -3/+7I've got a better analogy:
More like they got drunk and drove into a bus load of kids. Now mommy and daddy are bailing their no good asses out of jail and buying the best lawyer money can buy so they can walk free.. - skoles, on 07/23/2008, -1/+9They were driving drunk and we were the unbelted passengers. And we know the drunks tend to survive these crashes unscathed while the passenger dies.
- hmphargh, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Unfortunate yes, but the bigger issue is with the American consumer culture. People are glad to overextend their credit to get the big house, a luxury car for daddy, and an upscale sport-ute for mommy, but blame the financial institutions when the bottom falls out of the market. The banks are definitely to blame, no doubt, but the public pushed them to lend money to unqualified borrowers, if we didn't have such a credit driven consumer culture and people bought what they could pay for in cash (with an exception for houses, which would need to be in a responsible price range for the family's income), then we would not have this issue.
- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3The problem is that this contradicts his previous statements about the economy being fine and that there is nothing to worry about. The fact that he says one thing at a press conference, and the exact opposite during an 'off camera' moment at a fund raiser is quite telling.
- slowmo, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2My mom was speaking to a former high ranking executive from Washington Mutual Bank who retired in 2002 and who told her that "they should all be thrown in prison", meaning that the lending practices of her former coworkers were criminal. They only got what was coming to them.
- duckley, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Bush was the parent (regulator) asleep nextdoor with his friends wife (the oil companies).
- StupidLiberal, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2A better analogy is they got drunk, partied it up all night, banged all the hot chicks and wrecked your house. Now you wake up and have to clean up all their mess while they wake up at 2pm and bang the hot chick again.
- Yimyack, on 07/23/2008, -11/+3I see a bright future in stand up. He can tour as "The Prez", release a book called "The Terrorist Fist Bump" & after the successful tour, he stars in a Fox sitcom of the same name...
- audleylibrary, on 07/23/2008, -8/+21And who, sir, has been buying the drinks?
- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1And who's going to pay for the tab? Taxpayers, of course!
- jstohler, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Who gave them a giant tax break in exchange for getting drunk? (Sorry, I can't think of the appropriate metaphor for this right now. "Called the cab and stuff money in their pocket"?)
- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1And who will be paying for the tab? YOU - the taxpayers!
- cowisgood, on 07/23/2008, -3/+17This just left the top 10...did we need it resubmitted this early, or ever?
http://digg.com/politics/Banned_Bush_Video_Surface ...- codeblue315, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Yeah this is just getting ridiculous. I'm never one for bitching about resubmits cause, well, they happen, but damn people. Give it a week at least!! lol
- Andyschism, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1No both got submitted at the same time 21 hours 49min.
- jzuska, on 07/23/2008, -21/+13Can ya stop now. This is silly Obamabots.
- ncc74656m, on 07/23/2008, -2/+4You're absolutely right. It's a vast left-wing conspiracy to...
Wait, what??? The White House isn't even denying it. Just spinning it. - lhbaker, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1So Bush is inviting tall Obamabots with video cameras to high-priced fundraisers?
- ncc74656m, on 07/23/2008, -2/+4You're absolutely right. It's a vast left-wing conspiracy to...
- ventralnet, on 07/23/2008, -7/+25whats the big deal?
- ddawggin, on 07/23/2008, -4/+1why so serious?
- santaliqueur, on 07/23/2008, -4/+4Because it's a chance to attack George Bush. This time, it's quite a boring reason.
- detokaal, on 07/23/2008, -4/+10And the point is....?
At least we know he believes Wallstreet and their ilk brought this on themselves. Let's hope he follows through by vetoing any type of bail out for these scum bags.- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -3/+7The 'point' is that this contradicts all of his previous statements about our economy being healthy and that there is nothing to worry about.
- TriTech, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1It would be nice if he would offer help the people who are losing their homes because of rising ARM rates and not to those who lent the money.

- johnross1968, on 07/23/2008, -6/+12I am not a Bush fan but to me the part of this story thaqt really deserves some outcry is Why on Gods Green Earth was this video Pulled from YOUTUBE. Whatever the reason things like this should be brought into the light. How do you think Bush Co got away with so much for so long. Because enough people didnt know. Google's motto is supposed to be "Do No Evil" right? Well GOOGLE you Dropped the ball. sweeping stuff like this under the rug IS DOING EVIL.
- ddawggin, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2The video is at the link on the bottom...
- GeneralFailure0, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2It didn't get pulled. Youtube is clearly where NBC got it.
- stizz, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXj4-PFuMLc
This has not been pulled yet. The earlier link got pulled tho.
- iskevinpgay, on 07/23/2008, -14/+10This same BS made it to the front page yesterday - from thinkprogress now its from the huffingtonpost - digg is a clearing house for liberal crap. Pretty close to the same title too. BTW dems have run the congress for almost 2 years now while all this was going on - can't just blame Bush.
- GeneralFailure0, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Did you watch the video? It's not even a big deal, he just made kind of a stupid analogy. The only thing that was significant was that the cameras weren't supposed to be on and he was speaking candidly.
So far as the Democrats having a majority in Congress, that may be true but since they have such a slim majority they don't have the 2/3 necessary to override a veto and don't really have any significant power over the President. Though I'm not sure what exactly you think we're blaming Bush for right now in the context of this video.- 98psuAE, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2"Though I'm not sure what exactly you think we're blaming Bush for right now in the context of this video."
Lying to the American people that the economy is OK, while he clearly thinks otherwise when he's not speaking to the masses.
- 98psuAE, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2"Though I'm not sure what exactly you think we're blaming Bush for right now in the context of this video."

- fafaforza, on 07/23/2008, -5/+8I like how the article claimed Bush said "his friends on Wall Street" screwed up. Where in the video did he use the word friends or buddies or pals? The source's bias is showing through there.
And Bush's comments are not a big deal, albeit worded the way a high school kid would have worded them. All he said was that Wall Street screwed up. Asking for cameras to be turned off is an attempt to not face any sort of defamation or libel suits or complaints. Plus, he's still the president, and any negative comments could make the stock market even more nervous, possibly sending the markets lower. - jimmies, on 07/23/2008, -2/+21Hate Bush if you want (God knows I generally do), but he's right on the money here. Wall Street got drunk on profits (that were never really there) and is now suffering the hangover from the party. It's spot on.
- jstohler, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5The crazy part is that he wouldn't say this in public to Wall Street's face at a time when it might have done some good. Instead, at the time, he was running around given them tax breaks that encouraged the fiscal bender.
- ericthegreat, on 07/23/2008, -6/+14Why is this a big deal?
- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -2/+4It's a big deal because this contradicts all of his previous statements about our economy being healthy and that there is nothing to worry about. The fact that he asked video cameras to be switched off before he said it is quite telling as well.
- paulot, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6RARE BANNED IN THE USA VIDEO NOW AVAILABLE!
- lead2thehead, on 07/23/2008, -8/+2Wall street got drunk on fancy financial instruments? Could somebody please tell me what the hell he's talking about?
- richmomz, on 07/23/2008, -5/+7Anyone else tired of the Administration saying one thing to the public and something else 'off camera'? It's getting to the point where you can't believe a word they are saying about the economy, Iraq, or just about anything.
- Hotrox, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1Hi there. You must be new to politics.
- PolishLogic, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1He seems to be on camera here.
- Nodaki, on 07/23/2008, -6/+6There was nothing funny in that. It didn't even make sense.
The inner workings of the mind of Bush is an enigma. - pixmaker2, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7i agree with him on that. i may not like him but i agree with him there
- iskevinpgay, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7Can we just copy all the comments from the other story that was on the front page?
- flamingchorizo, on 07/23/2008, -5/+13Every time you digg a Huffington Post Story....a kitten is killed!
Please be kind to kittens and digg the real story!
http://politicalblog.abc13.com/ - dupswapdrop, on 07/23/2008, -3/+4Mr bush doesn't know the price of a gallon of gas, but I bet he knows the price of all that stock thats coming his way when gets out of the whitehouse. You pay him now and your going to pay him later also!
- jonatne, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3So, what?
If he say's something dumb and wrong people gasp over it.
If he say's something witty and pretty truthful people gasp over it. - perlogik, on 07/23/2008, -3/+4This isn't a banned video. The President asked people to turn off their video cameras. One person did not, then that person took the video and put it on the internet. Really why is this a big deal?
- Trifold, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2But...wasn't this just in the top 10...but now it was just submitted...
...I'm freakin' out man.
(On Topic: News Flash-the President isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. On the list of worst/dumbest things he's done while in office, this probably ranks about 4,983rd) - evo8ftw, on 07/23/2008, -10/+6wtf. who banned this video and where was it banned from for 1? Also why is there a pic of McCain?
you liberals are ***** crazy . - vexingmodstwo, on 07/23/2008, -7/+6A word of advice if you want to improve Digg: Bury anything from the huffingtonpost, thinkprogress, rawstory or just anything MakiMaki submits.
- JFallon126, on 07/23/2008, -3/+4Haha, Bush putting this in terms he understands. Our President is such a lovable rascal!
(facepalm) - digital0verdose, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5I'm not a Bush fan by any stretch of the imagination; however, it was nice to hear him actually say something truthfully that has relevance.
Bush, why would you want the cameras turned off when you are about to have a moment of honesty? Quit being an asshat by trying to only feed us bags of ***** and step out and speak the truth a little more frequently you freaking douche. - isleepyx3, on 07/23/2008, -3/+1So.. He doesn't want to punish those that ***** up?
- McShr3dd3r, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3So this is how the GWB speaks when there is no teleprompter:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgEuuypvzpY
"There's no question about it. Wallstreet got drunk, that's why I asked you
to turn off TV cameras.
He's got drunk, and now it's got a hangover.
The question is how long will it sober up
and not try all these fancy financial instruments?" - theutopian, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1So does that mean it's time for us to have in intervention with the banks?
- stretch611, on 07/23/2008, -1/+4I think Bush will end up as "Worst President Ever" and the worse thing about this story is that some idiot thinks they should embed a video of a tv show highlighting an embedded video...
Heck web most web videos are of such poor quality to begin with.... If you want to make your point embed or link directly to the original, don't expect me to be able to see anything in the blur of a video in a video.- MWeather, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1Lincoln was still worse, but only because Bush hasn't invaded his own countrymen yet.
- berational, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2Dare I say it....well said Mr. President. I am normally embarrased by everything from his mouth. I thought this was a good annalogy and nice candid speach for a private fundraiser.
It actually sounded like something Obama would say and I would be fine with it again.
Don't bash just because you can spin it or you are no better than Faux News! - kiwiboyus, on 07/23/2008, -0/+8The people who voted for him in the last 2 elections must be bursting with pride.
- lefthandpisces, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3WHY IS THIS BEING RESUBMITTED SO SOON WHEN IT WAS JUST ON THE TOP TEN THIS MORNING.
I love digg but sometimes it's repetitiveness gets to me. - hawkeyeted, on 07/23/2008, -5/+5Burried for Arianna Huffington.
- dchoward1977, on 07/23/2008, -4/+1The man continues to make NO sense at all when he speaks. Listen to the others laugh politely at his totally nosensical statement. How'd this idiot make it so long?
- crackberri, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2What a bunch Demotards…..
- liuite, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1better a Demotard than a Bushtard
- duckley, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2Duuuuhhhh....
Bush's Biggest Problem:
He never understood the difference between being a BULLY and being a LEADER. - lhbaker, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1The fact that someone in the Administration was able to censor video from a political fundraiser is alarming. Unless Bush does something so unintentionally funny that my mom forwards it to me, I don't care what the man says. But I also don't believe for a second that anything the President says at a high-ticket political fundraiser can be censored.
- jinsundo, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2What a nutjob/psychopath Bush is. I think he needs a tall beer so he can sober up.
- vrbanabanana, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Buried because there is nothing banned about this video. If you watched it, he was attempting to be funny. Also buried because it's from huff post.
- dpotter2, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I'm not a Bush fan, but this comment by Bush is mostly on the mark. Of course Wall St is really nothing more than a surrogate for Main St. these days. Anyone that has a 401k or mutual fund or has purchased a home in the past 10 years has gained from the housing debacle.
But, really I would like to think that our president could be a little more articulate and insightful than to just make a blanket statement that "Wall St. got drunk" - Anonchrist, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I am absolutely shocked. The idea that he might actually know what is going on in the world goes against everything I have ever thought about the man and it is thanks to the Huffington Post.
I think I just died a little inside. - Ferretman, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0It was hardly "banned"....I watched a good 30 seconds of it on Fox News last night.
Maybe the Huff folks need to watch some real news once in a while.... - beanphoner, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1ummm... that's it? I was hoping for some dirt!
- Lamadave222, on 07/23/2008, -1/+0Imagine if he had let it slip that the leftists had complained because people who could not afford to buy houses were excluded from the market so the government made it possible for them to borrow money. Even though the government already had the FHA to do this, the bureaucrats decided to invent FannieMae and FreddieCrack to push more people beyond their capability to pay, Now the government is shocked to hear that because of a socialist agenda our entire economy is weakened. Of course, like the peasant in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the US economy has responded to Media Chicken Little by saying, "I'm not dead, in fact I 'm feeling better." Just another example of the media saying "Oh yeah?" when their Messiah is caught looking and sounding like the inexperienced buffoon that he is.
