Bloomberg: "Tax Rebates Like Booze For Alcoholics"
wcbstv.com — Mayor Michael Bloomberg has unleashed another flurry of jabs on Washington, ridiculing the federal government's rebate checks as being "like giving a drink to an alcoholic" on Thursday. He also said the nation "has a balance sheet that's starting to look more and more like a third-world country."

- retdep110, on 02/14/2008, -3/+4Bloomberg is a blooming idiot. A national bank for infrastructure? This is what we don't need. Why is it these billionaire banker-types want to control the nation's wealth? Could it be that A. Rothchild was right when he said, let me control a nation's wealth, and I care not who makes her laws. So we let this idiot take away our means (guns) to defend ourselves from tyrannical government, then we let him control all our wealth (money) through a national bank. He must think we're stupid. I hope he runs for president, the midwesterners wiill chew him to little pieces for his assinine solutions to crime (gun control) and his solution on how to improve the economy. He's dumber than he looks, if that's possible.
- IVillageIdiot, on 02/15/2008, -3/+2I wasn't aware the Mayor and beloved “monied-class” potentate traveled the third world that often, maybe he was thinking of Brooklyn?
- Stickbead, on 02/15/2008, -2/+2"Bloombers Analogy: A drink for us alcoholics." I liken these rebate checks more as a single glass of water given to us in the middle of the Sahara desert. It was our water to begin with, but a strong man came and stole it. He had nothing better to do but pour it all over the ground and waste it. ...Sort of like the politicians who spend like drunken sailors. They exercise no constraint with OUR freaking money. I
n the end the leach will bleed the host dry - mauiboy86, on 02/15/2008, -2/+9This assclown is just like all the rest.. The rebate checks will only curtail then inevitable collapse of our economy for a few weeks if that. Where do you think they are getting the money for the checks anyways? Out of thin air from the federal reserve of course which only causes more inflation and devaluation of our currency. Dont forget the interest payments on 130+billion dollars at 6% a year, who is going to cover the $780,000,000 per year or $65,000,000 per month interest payment not including compound interest or principle huh?
Face it, there is no saving this country unless we elect somebody who is fiscally conservative and has real answers to our questions and monetary issues. I believe the only candidate still in the race who could do this is Ron Paul, but for some reason the media does not want you to know this.
Did you know that America borrows $3,000,000,000 per day from China to pay for everything from welfare, interest on loans to other countries, WARS around the world and the billions to illegal immigrants welfare in this country each year.
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!!- brad3378, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Not to mention - where will a major portion of this money be spent? More than likely on imported goods. If we're lucky, maybe the money will circulate a few times here before it leaves the country. We could really use a "buy American" message stamped on these rebate checks, but I'm not counting on it from this incompetent government.
- bmcelrath, on 02/15/2008, -2/+3This idiot has obviously never been to a third world country.
