http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Hillary_Clinton_ ...- B1663r, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2She is being drafted by the voters. As soon as she quits winning big states with lots of voters, whe will drop out.
- indigit4l, on 05/14/2008, -6/+20ROFL @ the skew concerning everything Obama. What if Obama had won this state? Hmm?
- skankyBacon, on 05/14/2008, -1/+13I just voted for Obama, but you are definitely on to something. The fun of being surrounded by like-minded people quickly loses its luster when it turns to zealotry.
- indigit4l, on 05/15/2008, -2/+4Yeah, I don't mind Obama, and I'll vote for him, but if his administration doesn't go so great, these diggers will have a lot of words to eat
- bjornski, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1Just like the Bush voters, right?
- aadyss, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I think a better term would be 'giddy.'
- indigit4l, on 05/15/2008, -2/+4Yeah, I don't mind Obama, and I'll vote for him, but if his administration doesn't go so great, these diggers will have a lot of words to eat
- locamama, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5Well if Obama won West Virginia it would count.
- LocDawg, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1also *****.

- JasonMaloney101, on 05/15/2008, -4/+1Why digg this down? Her "base" (voters) are slowly coming to "us" (the populus of Obama-supporting diggers).

What do you have to to hide Hilary digg community? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO HIDE!! - boonesfarm, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1The einsteins in Alabama and Mississippi went for Obama. If she weren't from Arkansas, those idiots would join you in supporting him.
- LocDawg, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3While her supporters still count on their fingers.
- publiclurker, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Except for Clem. You know, after the accident with the vacuum cleaner.
- stretch611, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1"While her supporters still count on their fingers." ... and any exposed toes.
- DemsFTW, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2Yes, the only people that can make Obama lose are stupid White people. Sad, but true. There are still White people out there calling him a secret Muslim. On top of that, there are those who dismiss him for being Black. That's even more moronic because he is half White.
- Beaver1279, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Yes, they are called democrats
- krait, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3But she's telling her base to vote for Obama
- pitlord, on 05/14/2008, -95/+43This is so disgusting. I've never seen so many narcissistic, arrogant assholes in one place in my life! Half of you can't even spell properly and you have the chutzpah to disparage the residents of West Virginia just because they didn't vote for YOUR candidate?
-_-
It is going to be very hard to feel compassion for you when your screams of pain and misery and gurgling through the blood flooding out of your severed neck and you are lying in your own excrement pleading for mercy as MoHammed slowly saws through your wind pipe with a dull machete.

RAAAAAAAGE - SheilaNoya, on 05/14/2008, -8/+29pitlord - Your comment sounds like you love violence. I guess that's why you're a McCain supporter. If he wins, you'll get plenty of violence, only probably not the kind you have envisioned. Instead of being invaded by terrorist armies like you think, it will be Americans rioting in the streets after our nation collapses in finacial ruin like the former Soviet Union.
- B1663r, on 05/14/2008, -2/+5Yeah, I have counted at least 20 male diggers today who wanted to do physical violence to Hillary because she is uppity and disagrees with their assessment of the situation.
You must have a husband or father that beats you to want to keep the company of the likes of them. The hits are not love!!! - ruddy, on 05/14/2008, -2/+2i like violence...

- Monkeywithacold, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6Hey, here at digg we are very open to other peoples opinions...
just so long as they are no different from mine. - kreneskyp, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3when a large percentage of the people are voting against a candidate because of 1) race 2) lies about his religion 3) other lies about his policies then yes i'd call education a factor. critical thinking skills would prevent this from happening. i really wish they had them

- b0wl0fud0n, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1Also, the Yahoo News team didn't write the article, but rather, Associated Press.
- jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2but it is entirely true
- sinurgy, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5Man digg is absolutely no better than the MSM it likes to bitch about. It has it's own bunch of cheesy ***** shills with their little agenda that go around being slimy and a huge group of dumb asses that blindly follow.
I like Obama but digg is really starting to make it difficult. - omnisis, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4I agree whole-heartedly. The sad truth is that most of the "educated" ppl on digg think that they are above being mindless bigots but that is exactly how the OP sounded. I don't think the education level for the entire state is that far behind the national average it's just that w.v. doesn't have a bunch of huge metro areas filled with over-educated young ppl to skew the demographic any that way. It's also important to note that most major cities account for the large proportion of homeless and indignant persons in their respective states.
WV is a beautiful state and a large part of its charm is the fact that it is one of the few states in the lower 48 that isn't bubbling over with strip malls and big box stores (actually some areas like Charleston and Morgantown do have a lot of these but not nearly as many as your typical metro 'burb).
Posts like this really make me lose faith in our society. All the messages are so cynical and so negative, even (perhaps especially) from the younger generation. There is more to life than elections and criticizing others based on exaggerated stereotypes. I used to think that the "Democratic Party" was all about idealism and believing in the power of every unique voice....sadly, I'm old enough to realize that politics is just politics and people are rude, inherently selfish and more arrogant than ever. If this is the canonical voice of a supporter for the 'Candidate for Change' then let me just say: " I don't like the way things are a changin around here come lately."- RickyBennett, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2from some one that lives in WV i find this entire article offensive i will digg you up in WV no one is in a hurry and every thing is a lot more piece full then any where else
and Obama is nothing but a arab so i hope he dose not win - publiclurker, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0You act as though the national average is something to be proud of.
- omnisis, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2No, I don't actually...All I'm saying is that is more to life than going around and finding reasons to be morally superior. If everyone acted like the OP, there would be no empathy left in this world, which is supposedly a "core value" of the democratic party. I'm not saying that education isn't an issue that ought to be addressed in states with average to below average educational levels, but acting like a jerk and denigrating an entire state because of silly demographic stereotypes is not the way to bring about "real change".
I went to college in west virginia and enjoyed my time there. I've since moved to a different state, received a graduate degree at a highly respected school and landed an awesome engineering job. All my friends in my undergraduate engineering were smart and talented people, they weren't walking stereotypes like the OP seems to suggest the entire population of w.v. is. It would be wrong of me to suggest that all the minority voters in an inner city area known for high crime were uneducated thugs living off of welfare and it is likewise wrong for the OP to assert that all citizens of w.v. are brainless country bumpkins. I'm sorry you don't see that.

- V3n0M, on 05/14/2008, -21/+110I guess their votes shouldn't count, because they're not like you, right?
- Jambi, on 05/14/2008, -17/+41Exactly. People like this drag our country down. They're not too bright, never work and to be honest, they kinda remind me of monkeys. Maybe if we passed some sort of law to keep them from voting...nothing too obvious, maybe a property ownership requirement, or a literacy test? Yeah, a literacy test! I mean, how many of them can even read anyway? And if they come out in the streets to protest, sic the dogs on em...or maybe a fire hose. That way it's not technically assault, and they'll end up smelling less afterwards.
- ventralnet, on 05/14/2008, -8/+3well retarded political views can even come from educated people. Pretty much every left winger and right winger
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2jambi's "ideas" were 100% right wing, and every one of them really happened at some point in american history.
- ventralnet, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1huh?
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2jambi's "ideas" were 100% right wing, and every one of them really happened at some point in american history.
- njndirish, on 05/14/2008, -6/+5You are looking for a way to prevent their vote from meaning too much, its called the electoral college.
- aadyss, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3I thought it was the Democratic "super delegates".
- DivisibleByZero, on 05/14/2008, -8/+14I've always actually been in favor of a weighted voting system. I mean, let's be honest. Everybody's vote counts, but giving clueless morons an equal say is just turning the country into that Idiocracy movie. We wouldn't want a clueless moron as the president.....
The only problem is coming up with a fair system to determine whether or not somebody knows what the hell they're talking about. It would be easier to start everybody off with an equal vote, then lower it when they do pre-determined stupid things like having more kids than they can feed or saying "their" instead of "there".- Monkeywithacold, on 05/14/2008, -4/+4at the same time taking gigantic steps backwards in human rights and equality!
- DivisibleByZero, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2It's worth noting that "equality" and "fairness" are not the same thing.
Also that we already revoke the right to vote of convicted felons. - jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1except that all humans are obviously not equal, if they were, we would n't have clinton making statements like obama can't win white voters
- DivisibleByZero, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2It's worth noting that "equality" and "fairness" are not the same thing.
- aadyss, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1i sure are glad im a smart sucker.
- rdoger6424, on 05/15/2008, -2/+3those people have like 60 IQs, so I figure they should get 3/5ths of a vote
- Monkeywithacold, on 05/14/2008, -4/+4at the same time taking gigantic steps backwards in human rights and equality!
- identitymatrix, on 05/15/2008, -4/+8Yeah some sort of basic test is really needed.
We don't let total idiots drive cars, so why let them drive the nation?
Even something like "name 5 other countries" would filter out so many idiots. I mean, if someone can't name 5 foreign countries, they really shouldn't be voting.- jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4you have to pass a test to become a citizen,
so why not pass a test to be able to vote?
we'll give people the same test we give immigrants, basic maerican history, economics and geography
- jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4you have to pass a test to become a citizen,
- locamama, on 05/15/2008, -1/+11I dugg this because I assume you were being sarcastic. I hope that's the case.
- metaliq, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2Sorry. I meant to dig you.
- Mesmorize, on 05/15/2008, -4/+6It's funny that all the brilliant liberals commenting didn't realize it was a reference to segregation in the South.
- Kyan, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I don't why people are digging you down. It is true and I'm surprised I had to read so far down for someone to point it out.
- ventralnet, on 05/14/2008, -8/+3well retarded political views can even come from educated people. Pretty much every left winger and right winger
- SpinningHead, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7I think the issue is more that we have been lacking good candidates and policies because of our lack of focus on poverty and education. Theres also a difference between those who are ignorant because they lack access to information and those who wear ignorance as a badge of honor. Im speaking as one who grew up in the deep south.
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1even the proudly ignorant are really just trying to cover up that they're sad inside that they aren't as smart as they want to be. better education really is the answer here.
/genuine sentiment of a cliche liberal
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1even the proudly ignorant are really just trying to cover up that they're sad inside that they aren't as smart as they want to be. better education really is the answer here.
- Spoomeister, on 05/14/2008, -13/+11No, their votes shouldn't count because they're ***** morons.
Sorry, forgot - I'm not allowed to say that, because every person is equal, every person is special, every person is important, blah blah blah.- fluoro, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14So if I ask a professor at MIT or Harvard whether YOUR vote should count, would it be acceptable for them to say "no, Spoomeister's vote shouldn't count because he's a ***** moron. He doesn't even have a PhD in mathematics, why the ***** should his vote count?"
- MacEnvy, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1That's pretty much what the founding fathers did. They did it by class instead of IQ, but it was just as wrong then as it would be now.
- SpinningHead, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4You're right. This is a democracy (democratic republic for those hair-splitters). Its The Great Experiment and its not often pretty. However, in this country, when people are languishing in ignorance, we don't put ruling families in charge. We work to make education better and work on poverty so this experiment can work.
- Spoomeister, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I'd absolutely be behind that. Don't you want leaders and decision makers to be smarter than you are?
- Monkeywithacold, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2I think you are a ***** moron, therefor your vote shouldn't count.
SEE WHAT I DID!
- fluoro, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14So if I ask a professor at MIT or Harvard whether YOUR vote should count, would it be acceptable for them to say "no, Spoomeister's vote shouldn't count because he's a ***** moron. He doesn't even have a PhD in mathematics, why the ***** should his vote count?"
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3well said. this sort of article makes people who don't go to college think democrats don't respect them. you would NEVER find john mccain supporters taking a giant ***** all over mike huckabee supporters, because huckabee supporters in january are mccain supporters in november. similarly, obama will need hillary supporters in november. if authors like these think they're doing obama any favors by ***** on hillary supporters, the authors, not hillary supporters, are the idiots.
- metric7, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2So what kind of voters is obama getting? The educated skreet hood?
- Jambi, on 05/14/2008, -17/+41Exactly. People like this drag our country down. They're not too bright, never work and to be honest, they kinda remind me of monkeys. Maybe if we passed some sort of law to keep them from voting...nothing too obvious, maybe a property ownership requirement, or a literacy test? Yeah, a literacy test! - LordMalok, on 05/14/2008, -2/+54Interesting story about the race..........that............just.............won't...............ever...................end.
- sockpuppets, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4race-ist.
- Barackalypse, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3Let the race continue forever, because let me tell you who loses when its all over: America. It doesn't matter who wins, we all lose. At the end of all of it, they're still politicians and they're going to kiss and make up and continue to vote the same way on the same bills, same as they always have, and the results will continue to be the same, more spending, more abuse of power, and more debt.
- whitey9, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2I guess the only solution to such a complex problem is Ron Paul. Obviously.
- Monkeywithacold, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Unfortunately, the only people in this world that think racism no longer exists are white males.
- DubBucket, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1irrelevant irony asplosion!
- Azselendor, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1The 2008 Democratic Presidential Primaries were spondered this year by the nascar 5000.
- OmniShinzui, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1This is the race that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friend.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever just because.
- mdcarey, on 05/14/2008, -14/+11Woah, Pitlord has some serious issues - It is interesting, I was watching the updates last night, and Hillary said since like 1912 no candidate has won the office without taking West Virginia. Stats don't win elections do they :)
- SheilaNoya, on 05/14/2008, -2/+8Hillary also failed to mention that a lot of Democratic candidates have won West Virginia but lost the general election.
- RebeL5K, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11Maybe she should mention that a black man has never won the Presidency, nor a woman, nor a 72 year old man. And that's going back to the 1700s, way before 1916.
- ericbramlett, on 05/14/2008, -7/+107The Leno quote is my favorite, "Hillary won a landslide victory in West Virginia. Which means she could be the next president...of West Virginia."
- eljewster, on 05/15/2008, -3/+2well her husband was a gov. of a hick state before being the pres., maybe she should follow his example
- Kyan, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Actually, I bet she could do a lot of good there as governor.
- eljewster, on 05/15/2008, -3/+2well her husband was a gov. of a hick state before being the pres., maybe she should follow his example
- Bagos1, on 05/14/2008, -12/+5I didn't know she won California?
- paradexes, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14She did. By a fair amount too. Guess Californians also are less educated also :P I live in CA, and from some of the close mindedness I have seen in the supposedly open minded Bay Area, I am not terribly shocked. I am sure this will get dugg down by those with an immense sense of pride of the Bay Area, but I am calling it as I see it.
Ignorance is not limited only to the Southern, "redneck" population. Plenty of ignorance anywhere you go in the US these days.
Common sense is not so common anymore.- whaleyboy69, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Dugg for speaking the truth. I lived in the Bay Area (SF) for about 10 years and abandoned it because of the closed mindedness of the residents of that fine city.
- troymccluresf, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Yeah... SF Native here, and yeah. There's a lot of people here who think "open mindedness" means "close mindedness that's a little different from other people's close mindedness." I still love it here but ***** like that makes it easy to realize why so many others think we're loons.
- MacEnvy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Common sense was never common. But only the extraordinarily intelligent and wealthy used to be able to write or get publicity, so it's much more apparent now than it was then.
- B1663r, on 05/14/2008, -3/+2She has won most of the states where people VOTED. And if you disregard the proportional math trickery that they are using to make their math case, she has an overwhelming majority of the popular vote as well. (the obama supporters are doing weird things with the caucus states and the states population that isn't mathematically sound...)
Also, if the supers give their votes to the candidate of the voters in the state, rather than the smoky back room deals that are going on, you know, assign them democratically, Hillary is far ahead in Supers.
- Heysal, on 05/14/2008, -17/+12She won Virginia huh? I didn't realize they were still using Diebolts down there.
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/14/2008, -9/+8No no no, they use incest.
- Enkairi, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Your sir are an idiot. Virginia, most certainly is not know for incest.
- BillySilvers, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0they're talking about WEST Virginia, moron. It's been a state since 1863. Seriously, some people....
- DivisibleByZero, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8Wow, so many things wrong with your post... wrong Vriginia? Diebolt?
I love it when people say, "Oh you grew up in West Virginia? I have a friend who lives in Richmond."
It's even better when I reply, "Wow that's a real coincidence. You're from New Mexico, right? Because I've got a friend who lives in Dallas..." and they look at me like I'M the stupid one.- haylel, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4should've gone with cancun.
- twst1up, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2or how about: "oh, do you live near the beach?"
I don't live in western virginia...i live in WEST VIRGINIA. 2 different states- DivisibleByZero, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Heh, not like western virginia could be near the beach anyhow... they call it the EAST coast for a reason.
- RedViper1999, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Well a long time ago West Virgina and Virginia were one state. Maybe the people are behind on the times. Or just plain retarded.
- mdwstmusik, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0You see there was this conflict, maybe you've heard of it, called "the Civil War." (a.k.a. "the War Between the States") At that time, the state of Virginia split into 2 states, Virginia and West Virginia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia
...and they say people from West Virginia are ignorant. - Enkairi, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Um..Clinton did not win in VA, I live in VA.

- Barackalypse, on 05/15/2008, -3/+6You call 24 a youth? Byrd was born in 1917. At age 28 he wrote "Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds". Sorry, but you can't spin his KKK thing as a youthful indiscretion, his words give those actions all the context you need to judge the man. Even years later his advice to kids wanting to enter politics was not to join the KKK, but he didn't say that because they were vile holdovers from times of real hatred, but rather because he said it limits your political movement later. He is flawed to the core, as a Senator, and as a man.
- roosterjm2k2, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2Yeah, you can.
Groups like the KKK, Black Panthers, etc all use the same tactics. The same tactics that cults use. You get young people, who are easily swayed. You build up their hate slowly. (If you've lived in an area like the south, you will see it) You tell them over time that EVERYTHING that is wrong in their lives is the fault of [insert target group here]. You tell them how great the would would be if [target] weren't around. Hell, it's happening now on a national level (immigrants).
You basically brainwash them into hate. He pulled out of that, and that's commendable. Most of the time people caught in that cycle of hate DO realize that they are wrong, but are so caught in the lie they keep up with it...
I've seen people like this. One of my buddy's parents were very anti-asian. He grew up hearing about how bad asians were, constantly from his family. He was told if he dated an asian girl they would kick him out onto the street. It took us a few years to break him out of that, he just didnt want to believe that something that was enforced so strongly his whole life was a lie... Our brains are far more susceptible to this kind of thing than we like to think... look at religion...

- MrMetal, on 05/14/2008, -24/+21If you notice, Hillary gets more votes in poorly educated states. This isn't really news, just a fact. People who think clearly vote for the only chance of hope the U.S. currently has. Obama '08.
- Barackalypse, on 05/14/2008, -4/+1You're my last hope Obama-Won Kenobi.
- The_Red_Monkey, on 05/14/2008, -6/+7Yeah our last hope wants to raise taxes during an economic crisis, makes perfect sense.
- fluoro, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3Well, what are our remaining alternatives that are any better? You think maybe McCain is a better choice because he probably won't raise taxes? He'll continue to spend at -least- as much as Bush but without raising taxes, and you think that's a good thing? Transferring debt to our children is the sensible thing to do?
Maybe Clinton won't raise taxes quite as much, but there's not really any evidence to support this. Either way, she won't spend any less than Obama. If she is spending as much or more than him, taxes should not be lower with her.
Ideally we should be cutting spending, and dramatically. But we have three candidates, and none of them is going to do that. Obama and Clinton promise to scale back the Iraq war, which may cut spending somewhat, while John McCain will certainly continue it (and maybe start a new war with Iran, who knows). If fiscal responsibility and the future of your children and grandchildren is something you care about, you need to be concerned with the future and with debt.- atmenterprises, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3While neither Obama, Clinton or McCain are the answer, why don't vote Libertarian? Obviously you feel that there should be spending cuts. Libertarians are for smaller government. Seems like a logical choice to me.

So the blacks voting 90% for obama was about "thinking clearly" and not race... yea right- vision777, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0That number did not go that high until Billy Bob Clinton played the race card. Many were still supporting the Clintons until that happened.
- seandaly, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Of course it's about race you tool! Guess what? They're allowed given historical circumstances!
*****, black people have only had constitutional voting rights since 1870, and even then techniques such as literary tests (not required for white voters at the time) kept them out of the polls. It wasn't until the Voter's Rights Act passed in 1965 that they truly had the same voting rights as whites.

- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2yeah, the smugness of some obama supporters is really self-defeating.
not all, though. my ballot's marked for obama (oregon), but i respect the hillary supporters i know. i respect hillary supporters with good reasons more than obama voters who are doing it for stupid reasons.
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2yeah, the smugness of some obama supporters is really self-defeating.
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1that's not true. i know several very intelligent hillary supporters. women, especially mothers, are giant hillary supporters. if you heard her victory speech last night, you'd have heard that nearly all the whoops were from women's voices. (it was music to this feminist's ears.) west virginia may have a lot of stupid people (like everywhere in the world), but they didn't vote for hillary. those folks are mccain's people.
- weside, on 05/14/2008, -15/+91Aren't the voices of the poorest people something to consider? Nah, not unless that voice is shouting for Obama. I think this election is helping me start to understand the typical Democratic mantra (at least on Digg). "We want everyone to be treated equally and respectfully - but if you disagree with my opinion, then ***** you, you're stupid and don't count."
- Laughsatyou, on 05/14/2008, -5/+32dugg for bitter truth.
- BadseedJR, on 05/14/2008, -10/+2No no, that is all of politics mantra.
- SaladCactusKing, on 05/14/2008, -4/+25I would've buried you in the past. But really, the mentality of this is so vicious and dirty, it just feels so wrong. I don't understand, I voted for Obama because he stands for good things and doesn't play dirty, why do his other supporters do everything that they hate Clinton for doing? I don't hate anyone. I just think Obama's the best candidate for the job.
- DanMcGuinness, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3I wish more Obama supporters were like you. But you're right, it's quite hypocritical of them bashing Hillary for mudslinging when they're doing the EXACT same thing.
- B1663r, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1Actually that sentiment is coming directly from his campaign. He has not moderated that sentiment on his official campaign blog at all, and hasn't told Daily Kos, and Huffington Post to STFU. Soooooo
Yeah that whoe uniter thing is a lie isn't it.
- Kikinou, on 05/14/2008, -3/+20That's right, and when white voters vote for Clinton that means they're racist whereas when black voters vote for Obama it's fine (90% of black voters vote Obama.) But it's probably racist to even mention that around here. Heck it's probably racist to just point out that Obama is black.
- B1663r, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2You are supposed to be color blind, you are not supposed to notice he is black... That was "The Dream" anyhow. Now I guess it is something different...
- vision777, on 05/15/2008, -1/+0Obama is only half black. In a matter of fact he grew up with white people who molded him. Do a search and look at his family tree and you will see he is related to a number of former presidents. It's funny how people want to forget half of his heritage because of the way he looks. Ridiculous.
- jocknerd, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1By calling him black, I think you are a bit racist. Why is Obama black? Why is Tiger Woods black? Why is Alicia Keys and Halle Berry black? It seems in this country you are black if you aren't pure white.
- publiclurker, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0When 20% of them are so stupid that they admit they aren't voting for Obama because he's black, then yes you can say they are racist without much worry. The only real question are how many of the rest were just able to think up a reason.
- mariemoonpie, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0hillary actually started the race getting a majority of the Black vote. i guess mississippi and wv are just outliers of the country but they still count nonetheless
- whaleyboy69, on 05/14/2008, -3/+7dugg for bitter truth as well.
I want to like Obama but don't, so far, because all I hear are meaningless platitudes from the candidate and *****-you-if-you-don't-like-him from supporters here on Digg. Well, thats not my team. This is how the Dems lose elections. - Calcularius, on 05/14/2008, -8/+12as opposed to the Republican mantra: "***** you."
- SaladCactusKing, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6At least the republicans say it to our faces, as opposed to our party of choice, which beats around the bush for a year before muttering "***** you" under it's breath
- queenstarsha, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2nah. the democratic congress hasn't told us to ***** off. they've just stood aside and let republicans imply it in filibusters where none of them are forced to actually speak. i'm frequently disappointed by the democrats, but they are not malevolent like the republicans. they're just a little weak in the knees. well, a lot.
- SaladCactusKing, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6At least the republicans say it to our faces, as opposed to our party of choice, which beats around the bush for a year before muttering "***** you" under it's breath
- Spoomeister, on 05/14/2008, -4/+12No, the morons who are voting for Obama "because I want to see a black president in my lifetime" or "because his speeches are so inspiring" or "because he's new" are just as bad as the morons who vote for Clinton "because I want to see a female president in my lifetime".
As for voices of the poor - sure. Voices of the stupid, no thanks. Obama draws huge support from people with college degrees. Clinton draws huge support from people with high school degrees or less. Yet it's a mortal sin to suggest that the candidate with the most support from intelligent people should be the nominee. A horrible thing, somehow, to suggest that perhaps the votes and uninformed opinions of the uneducated should not be considered equivalent to those of the educated.- badqat, on 05/15/2008, -1/+5Wow...another supporting the Jim Crowe angle...you know, there was a time when intelligence tests were used as a qualification to vote...as well as many other "qualifiers" that were really nothing more than disqualifiers. And democrats are the party of "the people"? Or just the people you want to let in?
- jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -2/+5we use test to grant people citizenship,
why not do the same for voting ?
there's nothing wrong with making people understand basic history, economics and geography before allowing them to vote- Kyan, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2In fact, America was founded that way.
- Siraf, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I'd agree with you, but having been shoved through the *****-festival that is the US education system, I don't think that many publiclly educated high-school graduates would be able to vote, which would lead into a downword spiral of mis-funding as the people who need the money can't vote for public money.
- jamesLankford, on 05/15/2008, -2/+5we use test to grant people citizenship,
- Mesmorize, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2You could also presume that we should let the Poor People decide how they want to be helped and not have people with college degrees delegate it to them.
- publiclurker, on 05/15/2008, -1/+0How about mandatory quotas for morons as engineers and doctors. We wouldn't want all those "elite" educated people making all those decisions now would we.
- stanleyford, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2"A horrible thing, somehow, to suggest that perhaps the votes and uninformed opinions of the uneducated should not be considered equivalent to those of the educated." -- Is it any surprise that the poorest, least educated states tend to vote Republican rather than Democrat (despite the populist rhetoric of Democratic politicians), when anyone can perceive the snide contempt the left holds for those whom it presumes to champion?
Knowledge is not equivalent to wisdom; education does not increase judgment; and the lack of a college degree does not make one stupid. I'm sure that many Republican voters would have been Democratic voters if not for arrogant, elitist views such as these. - chavarin, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Well, all I can say is that "uneducated voters" are not necessarily uninformed. Every American, degree or no, has access to the same information. I don't believe in polls, they are ALL BS, but if there was a way to truly look into the hearts of men- I'd guess about 5 percent of Americans know what they hell they're talking about. The rest go on Digg or listen to talk radio and are fed propaganda. I would give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're in the informed 5 percent, but just listen to you.
- badqat, on 05/15/2008, -1/+5Wow...another supporting the Jim Crowe angle...you know, there was a time when intelligence tests were used as a qualification to vote...as well as many other "qualifiers" that were really nothing more than disqualifiers. - BananaGrabber, on 05/15/2008, -3/+11Seriously, some Obama bots are just plain sore losers. Clinton also won the most educated state, Massachusetts. They're stooping as as Clinton making up excuses for everything. They talk about elitism, and look what they're doing now.

I though an education was "knowing something", not "went to school" because I know plenty of people who went to school, that I would still describe as "uneducated"
In the context of the Obama campaign I think it means... took a lot of racial sensitivity classes and have internalized their message.... I is quite obvious it does not mean "knowing something". - thanakar, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Some of the smartest people I know don't have Bachelor Degree. - jmpeagle, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1my comment merely states that the uneducated outnumber the educated. A very good way to show someone is educated is with formal degrees. My statement was correct and your comment added nothing and didn't contradict mine.
It was as if I made the TRUE generalization that BLACK people make less money than WHITE people in the United States..but then someone were to come around and say that wan't true because they were black and they made more money than all their white friends. While his statement that his did make more money might be true, it has no bearing on the original statement.

- Barackalypse, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Thank you, it's Curious George radiating hope and floating off to Obamaland with a handful of diverse colored balloons. I like it party because I enjoyed Curious George as a child, but also because based on another Digg article I learned that it REALLY cheeses off Obama's liberal Kool-Aid cult. And, lest anyone get the wrong idea, if anyone is a monkey in politics right now its President Bush based on some of the goofy facial expression I have seen him make.
- Spoomeister, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2Through measurable, objective standards, a majority of the Democratic voters in that state are among the poorest. They're among the least educated. And they chose Clinton in their primary. Therefore, Clinton drew support from the poor and uneducated.

Hillary would be a better choice because HER SUPPORTERS are much more reliable than Obama's. When push comes to shove, Obama will fail in the fall.
- johnsonjoeb, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3more reliable huh? explain then why hillary's broke as a joke and obama keeps making that paper...without PAC or lobbyist contributions. her campaign was run haphazardly and disorganized. she's used every tactic in the book from race baiting, to lying, to trying to change the ***** rules. get over it, she's washed up. plus we just got edwards. start talking about that woman in the past tense please.
- Marvelboy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1The guy has a really good point, for the first sentence. We should cool it, people know who we are and what we stand for by now. What I don't agree with is that her supporters are more reliable. I also disagree with his attempt at alliteration by saying Obama will fail in the fall, as it reminds me of what Green Goblin says in Spider-Man 1.
- DanMcGuinness, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0It's true, you can't rely on younger people to vote in large numbers, and young people make up a good portion of Obama supporters. It's been shown time and time again, hence why Clinton is the better choice with her enormous support amongst old people who actually vote.

- MattInChicago, on 05/14/2008, -5/+36Nice class warfare article you Obama Fanboy! Let's talk about the 90% black vote Obama got in NC shall we? Naaaaa...that would be racist right?
- johnsonjoeb, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3as an obamabot i am offended by anyone who votes for obama strictly because he's black, just like i'm offended by anyone who votes for mccain because he's white and old, or hillary because she's white and female. unfortunately there are those who gravitate to these individuals because this is a racist sexist country. the educated ones of us put our respective delagates over the top. race is a factor in this election. the playing field isn't level. it has never been. closet (and open) bigots and racists like the ones posting here on digg have made our "democracy" so. so if you want to "blame" anyone for obama's (and hillary's for that matter) blind support. blame them. if we'd shown some true diversity in our government a while ago instead of paying politically-correct lipspeak to it we wouldn't be flaming digg right now. every reaction prompts and equal and opposite reaction matt. 200+ years of white male rule is inevitably going to backfire once white males become a minority (and they quickly are.) give it up. it's over. your best bet in defeating him is calling him on well founded and researched issues not racist remarks and rumors. you don't fight racism with racism. it's never worked. that's why we're here now. thank bush and the true elitist cronies for that.
- basefx, on 05/15/2008, -3/+3If you're going to quote that stupid statistic like every other idiot, you could at least look at the rest of the corresponding exit poll questions. On average It's only about 10% of the black constituency who said the race is important and voted for Obama, and blacks make up less than 15% of the national electorate. So it's bad enough every time you bring up this ridiculous argument you're basically saying all blacks who voted for Obama are only doing it for racial reasons rather than their genuine approval of his campaign platform, but in essence what you're whining about amounts to less than 2% of the total vote in the country.
- publiclurker, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Give him some pity, he just can't wrap that little mind around the fact that his sorry state is not normal, and that therefore everyone in every group that doesn't do exactly what he does is a racist.
- theapplegod, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0OH PLEASE! I knew when I voted for Clinton in NC she was going to lose since most Dems are black AND for Obama in the state. Sad but the truth. Every reporting agency such as CNN, etc, knew he was going to win as well as his expected loss in WV on Tuesday.
I watched my vote get cancelled out as I walked out from voting by two black women who said walking out "yes, Lord, I'd only vote for Obama since he's black." Truth in the 90% of support he got here by African Americans. She had no chance here and voting for your particular race here. I'm not saying all blacks did... but 90% probably did. - mariemoonpie, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0hillary got the majority of the black vote in the beginning of the campaign--just look it up

It's a hodge podge of emotional, irrational human individuals chock full of biases acquired by age 18. They both think they're right and will turn on anyone who disagrees in a second. i.e. they are completely normal and embracing human nature.
- atmenterprises, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8The dems evoke whatever is necessary to win a race. Gore race-baited in 2000. I'm still waiting on Al Sharpton to apologize to the men found innocent in the Duke Lacrosse incident. They talk a big game about tolerance and equality, but they are the least tolerant of the two parties, IMO. The "helping the lower class" is all about government social programs to make people MORE dependent on government, which is an anti-capitalist view. I have to give former President Clinton credit, though: he did cut welfare spending. Must've been like sawing off an arm with a butter knife.
- Azselendor, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Al Sharpton apologizing to someone is like asking for a straight answer from habitual liar. that man can't site down for an egg and sausage breakfast without going into a rant about racists.

We don`t like it anymore than everyone else, but at least he goes to the hill and at least tries to stand up for the state. Rockefeller is sure as hell not going to do much for the state. Good old Rockefeller lies his ass off the the people of WV to get elected.
- freedomwv, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I grew up in West Virginia and people all across the nation just love to take a big crap on the state. It has been that way for decades. The people of WV have been exploited so much that I find it shocking that they have trust in any politician these days.
- sponeil, on 05/14/2008, -8/+3And we should all tremble in fear and anger at the thought that this is a "swing" state, which means that the dumbest people in America often end up deciding who the next president is. - IphtashuFitz, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5No matter the outcome of this race I'm really looking forward to the elections in November. Given everything that's happened so far it looks like it'll be unlike any election we've had in a very long time. There have been plenty of reports of Obama supporters who would refuse to vote for Clinton and vice versa. There are record numbers of young voters who have registered and will be voting for the first time ever. Some groups of Republicans don't want to vote for McCain because they don't think he's conservative enough. Ron Paul still has a small but very vocal group of supporters that are very likely to vote for him instead of McCain. And the list continues... No matter what the outcome in November I think it will be extremely interesting to see how many people end up not voting for the Democratic or Republican nominee but for people like Ron Paul or the Democratic equivalent. I wonder if it will be enough for the winner of the election to recognize as a significant level of dissatisfaction among the American people.
- neosinn, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1No it will mean, 4 years of a lame duck pres, Ron Paul is the only guy who would shake things up, both of these others are in it to hurt Israel or raise taxes and hurt Israel.

- DuffyDirect, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2obama isn't from their community, he's half white and his black is new-wave immigration, not slave diaspora
- pickles46, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2what about women voting for hillary because they want the first woman president?
- DerangedPenguin, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Jackspade, I am digging you up, because I want to people to see the hatred, bigotry and anger in the typical Obama supporter.
- Tenhundfeld, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1While I think jackspade articulated the idea a little strangely, I actually agree.
There IS a difference between these two thoughts:
Barack Obama has a drop of 'black' blood in him. I'll never vote for him.
Barack Obama doesn't have as much experience as I'd like. I'm voting for Hillary.
And there is a difference between these two thoughts:
I'm black and have never had a politician address many of the issues I care about. Barack seems to be doing this; I'm voting for him.
I'm black and will vote for any candidate who is black, regardless of qualifications.
I still think it's funny that if you have the smallest amount of black genes in your ancestry, then you're "black". Barack is 50% white and 50% black, but of course he's considered black. To be white you have to be 100% pure. That's pretty messed up, right?
I guess it comes down to this fact. If any of the following three things is true, it's who you are - a label that represents your entire identity.
1. Not Christian (especially atheist)
2. Not Heterosexual
3. Not White - TinternAbbot, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Obama is a half-black, half-white Ivy Leaguer. He's not a part of "the black community" if there is such a thing.
- Slvrgun, on 05/14/2008, -7/+1You haven't experienced racism a day in your life.
- NelsonR, on 05/14/2008, -2/+1My post below describes the state of affairs and there are currently many illiterate blacks in America that have had to endure more hardships then the average white. So myself, I don't blame them for voting as a block for Obama since it still boils down to Obama giving the average free mindied American hope for the future. No other candidate has that quality but only more of the same type of old political crap.
- ouzome, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3This is old rationalizing crap. We say race shouldn't be an issue when you are voting for President, but then we say it is perfectly fine for blacks to vote for a President because he is black. You can't have that big of a double standard and have your argument make any sense.
- FrenchAnarchy, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1What do you mean not discuss it? You 'Publicans bring it up every 6 posts or so, whining how everyone else is racist.
- DerangedPenguin, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Jackspade, I am digging you up, because I want to people to see the hatred, bigotry and anger in the typical Obama supporter.
- Mattwdj, on 05/15/2008, -3/+4Its west virgina, the whole state is just one giant family. Everyone there marries their cousins.
- funk49, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3Welll...if you can't keep it in the pants, keep it in the family.
- ReeseKaine, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Some poor girl in Braxton County gets raped by her father, suddenly we're all inbred hillbillies.
That's what we get for not taking sides in the Civil War, I guess.

- jackspade, on 05/14/2008, -11/+11you're a ***** retard if you can't tell the difference between white people Not voting for Obama because he's black and black people voting for him to have someone from their community become the first black president. There's a difference between positive and negative voting, but I guess that's too sophisticated an idea for you to handle
- siktath, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Yes! Keep attacking whites and white women in particular! I like that you're building up lots of mud for the world to throw at Obama.
