- reland1, on 08/27/2008, -1/+28I just called and made the lady go through the whole list of requirements..when she got to the 15% across 5 polls requirement, I asked her how they knew the polls were accurate..she said they were usually accurate by 3 to 4 %...so I said "so if he gets at least 11% across five polls, would that be enough?" She went "ahem..uh..I'm not sure that would be adequate." I told her it was "unfair for so many Americans to be ignored by the 1 party". She said "we have a 2 party system". I said "No we don't, we have a Republican-Democratic Combine for the masses, WE NEED a 2nd Party!". She was not happy...but managed to be very sweet and listened to my spiel as it went "in one ear..out the other"!
- Minarchian, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15**She said "we have a 2 party system"**
I would have also asked her what part of the Constitution set up a "two party" system. - caferrell, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8The OneParty will give you security.
The Islamo-fascists and the Russians and the communists all want to steal our liberty, so please hand over your rights quietly to the OneParty so that we can "pertect yur freedomsh"
- Minarchian, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15**She said "we have a 2 party system"**
- shortbusgeek, on 08/27/2008, -1/+25Yep, I called. And will continue calling. Bob must be heard.
- DerangedPenguin, on 08/27/2008, -1/+21Done!
- Hetman, on 08/27/2008, -0/+21This is america. We should not even have to try to get Barr in the debates. It is ridicilous. Teh democrats and the repbulicans have complete control over america and their is nothing we can do about it. If they beleive Barrs policies are so absurd they should easily be able to out debate him on any topic. So they have no reason to let him in on the debate.
- BurningSand, on 08/27/2008, -1/+20Will do!
Here's a great site with lots of information: http://www.opendebates.org/
(Far better than the "Commission" @ http://www.debates.org/) - JordanTW90, on 08/27/2008, -0/+16Everyone deserves the right to be in the debates. This 15% in the polls rule is ridiculous, give America the chance to hear him and he'll pull 15% in the polls.
- muckemuck, on 08/27/2008, -0/+17In many states there are more "Independents" than Republicans... . why aren't the Independents represented in the debates?
On many polls the the pollster doesn't name the candidates (so name recognition is key), or if they do name candidates often they only name Obama and McCain. In many polls they call only registered Republicans and registered Democrats.. so how is it that they're supposed to get an accurate poll of the independent voters?
Also, it should be pointed out to the debate folks that they're requiring an arbirarty 15% polling level when there is NO requirement on the media to give third party candidates any coverage whatsoever. IF Barr were getting 20% of the political coverage then odds are very good he'd be polling at 15%.
My take on it all... . calling them is going to do ZERO good other than cause them to spend some extra time answering the phone. The public won't know if they receive 1,000 calls or 100,000 calls. But..... . if 5,000 people show up at 1200 New Hampshire Ave NW Washington, DC to protest (loudly but peacefully)..and 100 people are tasked with uploading video to YouTube and CNN iReport.... and 50 people are e-mail pics to local newspapers across the country.. and a few people get arrested for blocking the street or something like that.. . then the media might take notice.- kekemortson, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Good point. When I was called, they only gave me a Obama or McCain choice. How do you get 15% if you are not even ON the polls???
- jhodapp, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15I'll call when I get off of work! Go Bob!
- shortbusgeek, on 08/27/2008, -0/+14muckemuck - I agree with your protest idea. However, I for one can't just take off to DC on short notice, nor can I take off to any of the debate locations unless I happen to already be scheduled to be in that area around that time, which I don't believe I am as of yet. However, even though the public may not know how many calls the CPD receives, the CPD will take notice that we want Bob in the debates. We're going to continue to hammer on the CPD and those involved with organizing the debates until either Bob is admitted to the debate or until the debates are over. Stay tuned for my next trick tomorrow. Hopefully this one will blow the socks off the Call the CPD campaign. :-)
- muckemuck, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9... there were reportedly over 4,000 in Philadelphia at a Ron Paul rally.. if people get organized it can happen.
Calling the CPD won't do any good. They'll simply ignore the calls. The folks who run that organization are former heads of the Republican and Democratic parties. There's no way in hell they'll allow a third party candidate into the debates unless it's under extreme pressure from the media. Extreme pressure from the media won't come unless the requests are made publicly.

- pajeff2, on 08/27/2008, -10/+1No, let the fringe candidates go have their own debate elsewhere..We want to hear the serious candidates
- boydwsmith, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8Apparently their mailbox is full. Boy won't they have a surprise in the morning.
BWS - GovernmentSp00k, on 08/28/2008, -1/+9Done. Had to wait on hold for awhile tho! The "lesser of 2 evils" don't want any competition. Especially from a real candidate like Bob Barr.
- HxChris91, on 08/28/2008, -1/+8Excellent, keep up the pressure, hopefully the media (might) pick up on it and Barr can make some serious noise!
- 4771cu5, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7I can't leave a message, their voice mail box is full.
roflmaololomgwtf!??!?!??! - DLB777, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7Called this morning - the receptionist was very pleasant.
- Diggobamanation, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6HEY, it's LibbyDiggy, they deleted me! Because of this! Please shout everyone to add me again! I can't be bothered to built a network up twice! Try to click my profile from this digg. It's gone!
- AnarchoGoth, on 08/30/2008, -1/+4I would also like to see Cynthia McKinney in the debates.
Anyone who is on the ballots in enough states that it is technically possible for them to win should be in the debates.
The American people deserve to hear what both of these people have to say. - hardwarehank, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Called. Was polite. This better work.
- PuterPrsn, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3I agree - the other parties do not get much air time, press time, or any voice at all. It's time to at least get a chance to be heard!
