Being the bottom one percent at a military school is a bigger accomplishment than graduating from about 90% of all U.S. Universities. Sure you may have legacy family connections, but at Harvard/Yale you have legacies and your money -- and future money.
Can you imagine waking up to a drill sergeant, doing physical training to that drill sergeant, taking classes, doing more physically training, and then having to do more if you can't bounce a coin off of your bed?
This article also doesn't mention that the class starts with 1100 people, but you're constantly pressured to not being officer material until you quit.
