  • InRussetShadows, on 12/22/2007, -3/+3If the Democrats actually had a case, why couldn't they present the simple facts and dispense with the high-volume fist-shaking emotional pyrotechnics? Why couldn't they reach out to "moderate" (those are the guys that the press likes, you know) Republicans? Why has it been so difficult to obtain the evidence that proves the case? In the end, I think it's all been a bait-and-switch act with the leftist base. There never was any evidence. Everything that did exist (like the 12 words about yellowcake) was purposefully distorted, misconstrued, and shaded so that only the conspiracy-minded could believe. The rally for impeachment was very much like the emergence of a cult, with all the code-words, suspension of disbelief, enemies, secrets, and so forth. The old boys in Washington manipulated their groupies and fans as long as they could, and now the train has run out of steam.

His oath makes NO provision for his cowardly arguments that impeachment efforts might not help reelect Democrats. The same applies to the rest of the members of Congress who refuse to take up impeachment immediately.
    Most Democrats, have betrayed those of us who voted for them two years ago. We will vote these cowards out in 2008. The only exceptions as the Demos like Kucinich and the members of the Judiciary Committee who support impeachment.
    Yeah, I can't think of any reason for Conyers and Pelosi's protecting Cheney except cowardice or submission to blackmail.
