John McCain, Internet dunce
salon.com — John McCain spends a lot of time talking about Iraq. He also likes talking about terrorism. But one issue he rarely touches upon is technology. In fact, under the "Issues" section of his campaign Web site, technology isn't even an option.

- JenniferInMO, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2This is significant and frightening. The US will not be able to compete if only a percentage of our country is adequately wired. I am also afraid that the current lack of a meaningful policy has been a boon for big telecoms and harms our ability now and in the future to compete. We face many important issues. We are living in a diverse society during complex times, but communications must be a priority. McCain may be able to lead on some issues, but the lack of ability to multitask important issues is a grave concern.

- barblibrarian, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3For anyone who is at all technologically savvy (anyone who can read this comment!) this issue should be enough to determine McCain is not an appropriate individual to lead our country in the 21st Century. We all know that our internet freedom is critical. We all know that technological equity is vital for the disadvantaged in the US. We know having access to technology and the web are vital for our kids in schools. We know we need a government that can stand between us and the telecom companies and defend our rights and ensure our needs are met. John McCain is not the person to do this. He doesn't have a clue!! And, he is totally on the side of big business/big telecom, even if they are not US corporations. Witness what happened with his support of DHL being sold to a foreign corporation and the loss of jobs in the US. He will not stand in the way of big telecom "managing" the internet without oversight. We will be the BIG LOSERS in this deal!!!
