huffingtonpost.com — Sen. Barack Obama's campaign released a statement Friday afternoon saying that while Obama opposes amnesty for telecom firms that spied on Americans, he will support the House compromise legislation.

- IbbyIbby, on 06/20/2008, -9/+3Ouch. I still support , not on this particular issue though.
- SusieK, on 06/21/2008, -2/+15Awful. This is Obama caving in.
- ICSU, on 06/21/2008, -1/+7It's not even the election yet...
- AesopSBX, on 06/21/2008, -1/+9Oy to the Vey. :(
- lgm1213, on 06/21/2008, -3/+11I bet this won't get many diggs because of negative Obama press.
- Caffeinate, on 06/21/2008, -1/+7The truth is the truth. This is a very unpopular decision by Obama, and I'm not happy about it. We are seeing how he caves right now, long before he ever takes office. It doesn't bode well for the future.
Anyone think we will get an ounce of justice from the war criminals in the White House? I doubt it because neither McCain nor Obama have ever denounced them as such even before the election. Think they will bother rocking the boat once elected? Nope.
At the rate things are going, I'll be writing in a candidate in November. Feel free to admonish me that I will be wasting my vote, but I plan on voting with my conscience. If all of us did that, 90% of the thugs in Washington, both the ones in Congress and the ones in the White House, would never have been there in the first place.

- LumpyRevolution, on 06/21/2008, -3/+8Wake up people! He's CFR! You are hypnotized by shallow rhetoric! Thank you and good luck!
- consonance, on 06/21/2008, -3/+3Godfreakingdamnit. I can't even imagine why any Democrat would say we need to give the government the power to ignore the Fourth Amendment. I support Barack fully, but I will never settle for compromise over the Constitution.
- Waiting2awake, on 06/21/2008, -0/+3Ya it is almost like there aren't two parties...only the illusion of two to keep the senseless masses arguing amongst themselves...

- vault, on 06/21/2008, -0/+10Finally a Huffpo story I'm happy to digg.
- JDenigma, on 06/21/2008, -1/+6Oh, don't worry, all Obama has to do is subliminally slip in the word CHANGE in the middle of sentences when speaking and that will take care of everything for him! :-)
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - Stevanoski, on 06/21/2008, -7/+4As he should. The tele's only doing what they were asked to do in a time of crisis. Chalk another win for the good guys.
- isparadiselost, on 06/21/2008, -1/+5So it's OK to break the law when it's convenient for the government?
- Stevanoski, on 06/21/2008, -5/+2You may not be old enough to remember the times and situation. For the first time Americans had been killed by Islamic terrorist on our soil. The government is who you should take your beef to. The tele.s did one admirable thing in their lives, and this was it. I thank them as should you.

- Waiting2awake, on 06/21/2008, -0/+3Obama is merely showing what a President has to show before being allowed to be President....
The ability to take orders.
Americans - I hope you are ready, it would appear the first stage is set. - Erich100, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I don't think it's so much caving in as it is showing his true colors.
