Obama to "refine" policy on Iraq withdrawal
news.yahoo.com — FARGO, N.D. - Democrat Barack Obama opened the door Thursday to altering his plan to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq in 16 months based on what he hears from military commanders during his upcoming trip there. "I am going to do a thorough assessment when I'm there...I'm sure I'll have more information and continue to refine my policy."

- mummbleswers, on 07/03/2008, -8/+1This isn't news - now the media is jumping on board to paint Obama as a flip-flopping centrist; and people are falling for it. Go back to the debates, he has said that the mission was to get out of Iraq (which he still says) but we will be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in. What did people think that meant? It meant that he would survey the situation, talk with his staff, and then decide the best solution. Not being willing to hear people out, and sticking to your guns too much is a major problem with Bush. The fact that this guy will hear people out and pick the best situation is a good thing. No one wants the Bush of the left, except the extreme left. We need someone to bring us all together. “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
- mummbleswers, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1Ha dug down with no real discussion on the topic, just name calling on the posts beneath me. Typical.
- czeman, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Obama has been taking positions with statements that can be interpreted two ways. Now he makes a clear statement of his stance, takes heat for it, and blames the McCain camp. I guess his latest campaign strategy is,"Just Blame McCain!"
- HotSaucePanCake, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1the media has been riding o'bama's sack the whole time. I'm not sure what you're smoking
- JKap, on 07/03/2008, -1/+10What a joke. Bunch of suckers and robo-voters supporting this CFR toady.
Get ready for more of the same--"Patriot" Act, Defense Authorization Act of 2007, undeclared, unconstitutional "war" with Iran, unconstitutional, ex post facto "retroactive telecom immunity," "refined" occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, $1-trillion per year empire/biggest single polluter on the planet, inflationary depression, surveillance state, the whole nine yards. If you liked Bush, you'll love Big Brother O-bomb-a.
Spin it how you will O-bomb-a koolaid snorters. Download your latest talking points--you'll need them. He's a Neo-NeoCon. We're not getting the country back until YOU WAKE UP!- mummbleswers, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1Hold up a second, what part of what I said is false? I am truly asking the question - what did you think he meant by "we will be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in?" Did that statement mean that you commit to a plan no matter what? That you don't consult your military staff and assess the situation? I'm really serious, what was you're interpretation of that statement? And now you compare Obama to Bush? Is this even worth trying to see your view or are we so far apart this is impossible? And you trash Obama telling people to WAKE UP... But wake up to what? What is the better choice right now? Like McCain wont continue all the things you listed above? Thoughts and solutions please.
- RedPhalanx, on 07/03/2008, -1/+9Primary Obama - Let's get out of Iraq
General Election Obama - Or not.... - czeman, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Basically, he said the same thing McCain said long ago. He believes that any decisions regarding withdrawal should be informed based on advice from military leaders.
- tennis43267, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2man obama's flip flopping is driving me crazy. he needs see that john kerry lost the 2004 election because he couldnt make up his mind on the issues and learn from that if he wants to win in 2008. Fortunately for him, he has a big lead and can slip a little and be ok still.
