You do not own your labor. The government simply allows you to keep a certain percentage of your labor for yourself. The amount can be changed at any time without your permission.
Now you will not even own your own body. The government will take it and apply it to whatever they think worthwhile without your permission.
Can someone explain to me why Americans continue to spout the ridiculous notion that we are a free people? - niccha, on 11/10/2008, -1/+4I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea of compulsory community service, but I don't believe anything that Obama or any of his staff have said qualifies as making community service "mandatory." Any statement, when taken out of context, can be used as "proof" to further an agenda. I believe that's what has happened here. Sorry losers are trying to find the chinks in Obama's armor... and I don't blame them. It's a natural human reaction.
But, in this case, I don't buy it. Most everything that has come out of the Obama camp so far has only said they will provide tax credits and tuition forgiveness in exchange for community service.- Ayrleig, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Not opposed to compulsory community service?
