God Bless Ron Paul...Let Freedom Ring!
"Give me liberty or give me death!" -Patrick Henry- digglet08, on 09/02/2008, -6/+10The Henry quote sounded a little funny coming from a digg commenter. But I sort of agree about Paul.
- postrye, on 09/02/2008, -13/+6I believe you meant "Spaghetti bless Ron Paul"
- 55Test55, on 09/02/2008, -9/+15Hey ***** you, two of my friends died trying to bless Ron Paul.
- hamobu, on 09/02/2008, -18/+6"Ron Paul, the only Presidential candidate who truly understands what it means to be free..."
This statement makes no logical sense what so ever.- BotchaMcCoola, on 09/02/2008, -3/+1That is why your vote should not count. Sorry, but you walked into it.
- hamobu, on 09/02/2008, -3/+3Boy! You showed me!
- Uiaccsk, on 09/03/2008, -1/+3well, it DOES make sense. big government intruding in my everyday life = no freedom. small government acting within its guidelines set by the people = freedom. pretty simple stuff.
- hamobu, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2You got all that from :
"Ron Paul, the only Presidential candidate who truly understands what it means to be free..."
- heliox, on 09/02/2008, -7/+3I don't think he is a candidate.
- postermmxvicom, on 09/03/2008, -3/+2Methinks Sarah Palin understands freedom also.
- Parisjune, on 09/02/2008, -8/+78Watching it now live! Wish I was there.
Not taking the Obama & McCain pills! It's the Constitution or NOTHING!- NoCt1, on 09/02/2008, -2/+12True. Mccain and obama are bothing going to eff the constitution up. Hell one president has why should we start enforcing now? The next pres will abuse it also. Its all down to the lesser of two evils. oflips or mcwhiney.
- roxgod666, on 09/02/2008, -16/+2I took the Obama pills, and i gotta say it feels ***** good
- angryfirelord, on 09/02/2008, -1/+7Those pills are placebos. What Obama wants you to think and what he'll really do are two totally different things. Analyze his speeches more carefully; there isn't one government program that Obama doesn't want to expand or throw money at. You think the debt is bad now? Wait till Obama takes office, the debt is going to balloon like crazy.
- justz00t, on 09/02/2008, -0/+6Yeah well, watch out for the after effects that include symptoms like headaches, dollar weakness and moderate to severe loss of liberty.
- dafragsta, on 09/02/2008, -0/+5Like all drugs, they wear off. I want to see how he does in a debate. Something tells me his sharp deliveries will be not quite as sharp when it's not quite scripted.
- gandhii, on 09/02/2008, -0/+6I guess you haven't noticed when he changed from an anti-war president to a pro war on afghanistan, pakistan and Russia president.
- Cuchanu, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1@dafragsta: He had tons of debates already, just not with McCain. And something tells me that he wont have a big problem winning a debate with somebody who says he'll have to ask his staff what his position is on condom use in Africa.
@angryfirelord: I think you are exaggerating a lot. The list of things he wants to expand is a lot smaller than the list of things he has no plans on changing. And most people would agree that they are for worthy causes (which, like everything, is debatable).
@gandhii: Yep I lost some respect for him there. I understand trying to win the election by appealing to the moderates (people that don't pay attention), but there is certainly something to be said for refusing to bend the truth or change yourself to win. You have to respect Ron Paul for being a 'Maverick' in the truest sense of the word.
- Shiftgood, on 09/02/2008, -9/+2dude, ive been watching it all day.
what a ***** train-wreck.

- Ghoztt, on 09/02/2008, -5/+27I'm glad to see there are still people not giving up on Ron Paul being heard. I'm still voting for him.
Protest vote. - ironhide, on 09/02/2008, -6/+31I have too many differences of opinion with Paul's platform to support him, but I think this is still a good thing for the country. The two-party system has outlived it's usefulness.
- akhomestead, on 09/03/2008, -1/+2Have you read his book? It my explain why he feels certain ways.
- ironhide, on 09/03/2008, -1/+3I might take a look. I can tell you right now, my main problem is that he would let the states pass laws harmful against certain groups of people. I cannot in good conscience condone that. Laws like the ridiculous sodomy laws are a perfect example.
- akhomestead, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1ironhide
See I probably agree with you there but this also makes it so the federal government can't tell all the states that sodomy is illegal. I'm pro choice and ron paul is anything but, however, I respect his views that it's not mine, or his, or the federal gov. job to decide that. It's each state and communities job to decide. And if we had a small federal government the state would also know that votes like these have consequences like higher taxes to help families, and their health care. Because if a state makes it mandatory they should pay for it. - cswake, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1Plus the more decentralized a "bad" decision is, the better your odds of talking to, and convincing, the individuals who can change it.
- akhomestead, on 09/03/2008, -1/+2Have you read his book? It my explain why he feels certain ways.

- nonsequitor, on 09/02/2008, -1/+3Wow, what a truly inane reason to bury an article. Not that it is uninformative, inaccurate, lame, or poorly disguised SPAM; but because you don't agree with the person the article is about. It's not even something mentioned in the article, nor does that effect his status as a public figure.

- TheLastLyricist, on 09/02/2008, -2/+3Because there was a media blackout and he was cheated out of the opportunity to spread his message, unlike the other candidates.
- senatorpjt, on 09/02/2008, -2/+2Yeah, but the media shows what people want to watch. I've realized the free market will never work because it relies on the public and the public are idiots.
- mcsenget, on 09/02/2008, -1/+4If you had been listening to Governor Jesse Ventura's speech about the presidential debates excluding Ross Perot, you would begin to understand.

- ironhide, on 09/02/2008, -2/+24I used to digg Paul stories down and mock his supporters but then realized that I don't have to support him but instead I support what they are trying to do. All it takes is for one third-party candidate to break through and then maybe we will get the government we deserve. There is no purpose in blind party loyalty.
- Enisity, on 09/02/2008, -7/+2So was DNC....
- mikelist, on 09/02/2008, -9/+2the big problem with conservativism is that the guiding principles make ethical behavior optional. the left at least has a pragmatic sympathy for people's problems, misguided or not. the conservative market view is sink or swim, but including the working class in that risk is presumptuous at best.
- odigity, on 09/02/2008, -1/+1Inaccurate.
- SouthsideIrish, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1And we don't? You believe government and all of our money can fix every problem. Well it can't. Were the people Louisana helped more by government, or groups like the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and even Walmart? We want to help people that have problems, just in a different way, with groups that are really going to help people.
- mikelist, on 09/04/2008, -0/+0you have no business deciding what i believe. for the record, i believe in accountability but i don't believe in punishing people for the kinds of indiscretions that even republicans are apt to make. i believe the 'noblisse oblige' that conservative theorists take for granted doesn't exist, except for those who actually believe in their own nobility. i don't believe that borrowing money is better than taxing for the same funds, especially since the taxpayers pay that amount plus interest when conservatives follow their instincts. face it, if you want infrastructure and services, taxes are better way to pay than borrowing from foreign interests. i do believe that there is a large range of problems that can ONLY be solved by the incessant pressure from governments, since publicly held corporations rarely do anything that minimizes their interest. although i do applaud wal-mart on thie gulf coast-katrina issue, they actually continue to have anti-community effects (forgot you believe in free market competition) such as advising employees that a democratic win will ruin their employer, and pressuring vendors to market products that are substandard to the vendors standards (buy some levis signature jeans or read about snapper/simplicity's experiences with wal-mart to see what i'm talking about). habitat for humanity is hard to speak against, but in my town (kalamazoo, mi) h4h has gone to court and taken lots from people who paid taxes on and improved or maintained vacant lots adjacent to their own.
i stand by my statements about conservatism, i have been consistently employed full time for the last 30+ years, so i'm not a welfare queen and i don't mind sharing the fruits of my labor with others who are less fortunate, i hunt and fish, so i'm no gun opponent, and i pay attention to whose policies are most beneficial to me, so i don't rely on sound-bite politics. i buy gas, am a veteran, have four productive offspring, only married once, not a christian ( i once was, and may again be, ya never know), but i don't need fear of hell to make me act charitably to my neighbor and be relatively resistant to dishonesty (a christian friend postulated that if you ever lied, you are a liar, and if you ever stole anything you are a thief, i have done both in times past, so i don't sit in judgement except for ongoing dishonesty or pretense) and i don't criticize people who are motivated by their religious beliefs except when their actions contradict jc's commentary or countenance cruelty. in short, i believe i have the experience to make observations about conservativism, at least as practiced in my lifetime.
