The FED Really does understand.
blog.mises.org — It understands that it's role is subsidize certain debtors, big corporations and banks, at the expense of the rest of us. By allowing and accepting Inflation we get to bear the burden of paying for the mistakes of big business, banks and government. The idea of Abolishing the Federal Reserve is looking better every day.

Bear Stearns Assets Accepted
By Fed Lose $1 Billion in Value
By SUDEEP REDDY

Assets the Federal Reserve agreed to accept in March from Bear Stearns Cos. to facilitate its sale to J.P. Morgan Chase are now worth about $1 billion less than estimated at the time of the transaction.etc. - Wundur, on 07/04/2008, -0/+11The first step in giving control back to people would be to elect Ron Paul as President who will get rid of the illegal Federal Reserve.
This will break the back of the power structure of the bankers, globalists, military corporates and neocons making them easier to either get rid of and or control by the people for a much needed change.
A McBama Presidency is a Presidency for the continual rape and pillaging of America by the above entities. - Navigator7, on 07/04/2008, -1/+6@ Wundur,
Government does not give back no matter how much you believe in Paul.
The People must master government by using our institutions as they were designed.
All the tools needed were provided by our founding fathers.
The problems of America are not because of big government, big oil, big business, or Bush...as the Left would have us believe.
The problem is uninformed American's buying into an ideology that is a lie and voting for it!
Specifically ... Liberalism.- Kent4jmj, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4If more Paul supporters understood Libertarianism better, which I believe is the heart of the Republican party, they would understand that our personal responsibilities as citizens to be informed and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for our country is fundamental. I like Paul but he is not our savior. Most if not all his ideas are what will turn this country around. One individual person at a time. And those ideas must be learned. Lewrockwell and Mises.org are good starting points as well as the many conservative websites and news agencies.

@ Kent4jmj,
You mean re-learned! ;-)
Our founding father set this country up so that liberalism could not get a foot in edgewise.
Even the founding fathers couldn't envision the day when a marriage may be of the same sex and maybe not of the same species.
Even they couldn't imagine a political party and the press working hard aiding and abetting the enemy during wartime.
What all liberals need is a V-8™ smack to the forehead.

- Risingashes, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1Main banks are an essential part of modern economics. They are borne from a distinct need and reverting to the previous system, where there is no mechanism for altering the money supply, would be disastrous.
The solution to corruption is not to abolish the institution- it is to abolish the corruption.
Baby- bathwater.- Kent4jmj, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Fractional banking seems to be the main culprit. And of course Rule of Law is absolutely fundamental for a free society. Corruption must be prosecuted!
- PeppermintPig, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Non-aggression principle > Rule of Law
- Kent4jmj, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1As a Libertarian in training I had to look non-aggression principle up. Thanks it was worth it.
- mcmurph9, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Banks, while not inflating the money supply through fractional reserve banking are indeed useful, but there is no need to regulate the supply of money. Once an amount of money is established in the marketplace for society, any increase in that supply only serves to dilute the purchasing power of the money already in existance.
When a money supply is held constant, gains in productivity result in falling prices, thus an increased purchasing power of the monetary unit and living standards increase. Just the opposite of what we have today.
The Fed has failed miserably in acheiving it's statutory goals, because it isn't possible to truly manage an economy. It will abolish itself through mismanagement and bafoonery.

- AntiZionist, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Abolish the Federal Reserve and we can begin to be free from slavery.
- hugolp, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4While I agree with the idea that the Federal Reserve is a way of keeping US people in some form of slavery, there have been only two politicians in US history that have tried to abolish the Federal Reserver. Both were murdered.
Is going to take a lot more than good intentions to get rid of the Federal Reserve.
