Want Obama in a Punch Line? First, Find a Joke

nytimes.com — “We’re carrion birds, ” said Jon Stewart, host of “The Daily Show” on the Comedy Central channel. “We’re sitting up there saying ‘Does he seem weak? Is he dehydrated yet? Let’s attack.’ ” But so far, no true punch lines have landed.

  • Mikeachim, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1I'm staggered at the level of outrage over the New Yorker cover. Staggered that so much of this outrage is from the pro-Obama side - because it's so obviously a pro-Obama cartoon. It's *ridiculing his critics*.

    It seems it's impossible not only to make jokes at his expense, but make sophisticated jokes in his defence as well.
