Beware of XHTML
eioba.com — Advancing web developers have probably heard about XHTML. Most people use XHTML simply because they believe they are staying on top of technology. But there is a lot more to it than you may realize, and if you're using it on your website, even if it validates, you are probably using it incorrectly.

Yeah, Netscape 4 and IE3 both have really shoddy support for these... oh wait, I missed the whole "popular" "today" part. :( - BladeMelbourne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2XHTML 1.0 is nearly 7 years old. The more sites that use it, the more importance Microsoft will put into accepting the different content type. Inaccurate, no Digg.
I serve XHTML 1.1 to MSIE as text/html. It has worked for years and never caused any problems. Anyone who says otherwise is living in a fantasy world. Most people who I have spoken to resist XHTML because they are too lazy/inadequate to meet the mark. HTML is deprecated, I will not use it (as I will not use ME, 2K or XP).
