Firebug Extension out of beta!
getfirebug.com — If you're using 1.0 beta you will not notice much change. However, there are still tens, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people who are still using 0.4.1 and are going to get a very nice present the next time they restart Firefox.

- shay1208, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Firebug and web developer extensions make web developer a lot easier. ajax development would a lot more difficult without firebug.
- WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Difficult? I would of killed myself without Firebug. I'm sick of using alert() everywhere and firebug has shown me how messed up my Javascript was. Now I have a *much* better understanding of what variables/functions are in/out of scope at certain times. Also, with Firebug, I learned that window.setTimeout() messed up the "this" reference. No matter the context of the function that calls it, "this" will be equal to the "window" object after the Timeout. That was killing me for weeks. And, a note to AJAX dev'ers out there, breakpoints with Firebug can have unexpected effects on AJAX. 'Cuz, while the code is stopped at the breakpoint, apparently the xmlstatechange still gets called as it goes through all its states. I had code that behaved differently when I had breakpoints and I was like, "Uhh....what the..".
Firebug is the best - I need something like this for IE.(And before anyone asks, if you're doing paid-webdev work - your site needs to work in IE; rather you like it or not).
Major credit to the folks that put this together. - mrblack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3indeed WorldGroove, I have to agree. And huzzah to the title of this, I was using 0.4.1 and am shocked. Without firebug understanding Http requests and what the hell is going on is very difficult. With firebug I can directly read the Ruby on Rails Error (after the scrolling). Think I will tell the boss to donate to them.
- RuskiBanger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Great tool and for debugging IE? I use Visual Studio's built in debugger... just enable java script debugging in IE, Works great.

Should come in horribly useful! - DeadWisdom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"... 0.4.1 and are going to get a very nice present the next time they restart Firefox."
Thank you Jesus, Buddha, Moses, and the rest of the Firebug development team! - Amything, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wow this is amazing. First time I try it, blown away!
- revisrev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0What a great present for my birthday, I didn't even know that this extension existed, now I get a full version? Excellent!
- jbum, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1CAREFUL: On my MacBook pro, I just updated to the new version. Now it quietly fails when I try to launch it. Grrr....
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Disable your other extensions, then try again. If it works, disable Firebug again, reenable an extension and try enabling Firebug. Keep doing this, turning it on and off until you work out which extension is causing the problem. Sothink SWF Capture did it for me, uninstalled and now Firebug works great.
- dcab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Really cool.
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5video tutorial on firebug here:
http://www.digg.com/software/Video_Tutorials_on_the_Firebug_Extension_for_AJAX_Debugging - branndon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I know this probably has nothing to do with this add on by it self, but it crashes my firefox every time I try and enable it. I'm going to disable my other add ons and themes and see if that helps. Anyone have any other suggestions?
- branndon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2NM, that worked. Bury away.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I had to do the same thing. I found for me it was Sothink SWF Capture causing the crashes, by process of elimination.
- ghebert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, this extension was coded by god. I used 0.4.1 and was already in love with it. There's so much new, useful stuff in 1.0, I'm so excited.
- archick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's awesome
- jfrabaute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hi,
Firebug is so far the most complete dev tool.
For IE, I am developping the Debugbar (http://www.debugbar.com) which is free for personal use and also Companion.JS (http://www.ieforge.com/CompanionJS/HomePage) which is very early version but will be improved.
Any feedback are welcome and stay tuned as we will release new versions soon.
Thanks.
JFR - MagickCrafter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like how their web page gives a horizontal scrollbar in FF but not in IE...
LMAO.
