- ilkeryoldas, on 10/10/2007, -39/+11a programmer with a big khram (opposite of sports car effect)
- raitchison, on 10/16/2007, -12/+456That's awesome, non-IT people will have no idea what it means though.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/10/2007, -16/+123If it's not a bug it's a feauture
- Cloud7654, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4My program has lots of features. They all just randomly develop over time though.
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1you laugh at the little butterfly now, but wait until your 300 feet up in the air looking at toto and dorothy.
- Cloud7654, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4My program has lots of features. They all just randomly develop over time though.
- JesusDeluxe, on 10/10/2007, -12/+1That would be fine with me
- Disease, on 11/10/2007, -11/+8How many people read?
- norm78, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Pro audio guys use it a lot too.
- fruitblender, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16Non IT people are less intelligent than IT people. You are so right, they would NEVER get such a joke! High five!
- ProfBagelwood, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I don't think he was attacking their general intelligence, chief.
- LordofShadows, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Maybe she is self conscious about her intelligence?
- Erixxxxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Most high school/college kids are
- neeva2u, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Heck, I'm a girl in an IT group with 2 guys and *I'm* the only one who got it!
- oolatin79, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Probably because it's mostly popular in software development groups, which is different than IT in my opinion. You probably won't run into a single professional (out of college) programmer/developer who wouldn't know what the phrase meant.
- brownspank, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You had me at 'girl'.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/10/2007, -16/+123If it's not a bug it's a feauture

Picture Section?- mklopez, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Sorry, again this proves that we DONT need a picture section. This is the kind of visual joke that is intented for developers, programmers and software creators, so the topic is the right one. But if there were an easy way to tag the entry as an image (instead of just the little [PIC] text) then you could search or filter it in/out with ease, w/o creating more sections.
- DarkDragon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes, we need a picture session so that funny pictures like this will never hit the front page >=[ /sarc
- perhapsimcrazy, on 10/10/2007, -10/+80Something tells me the picture quality had an ID ten T error
- birdadderley, on 10/10/2007, -7/+17we actually used that when we were on the phone with stupid customers (auto appraisers can write estimates real well, but computers are dangerous in their hands!). while the customers were on the line we'd tell them "oh yeah i think that's an id.10T error, let me get another set of eyes on this. David [coworker], can you come over here and have a look and see if this is an id.10T error?"
- melonhedd, on 10/10/2007, -12/+1Hilarious!!!!
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Sir, what you have here is what we in the business call a 'PEBKaC'. Unfortunately, there's absolutely nothing I can do to resolve it..."
- merreborn, on 10/16/2007, -3/+98The picture quality is so low, because this image was originally circulated as a joke on the net in 1994.
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bummer. I was going to ask if there was a bigger version. Oh well!
- Yurhiness, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3/smirk

- twrife, on 10/10/2007, -25/+9You know he is a programmer because his car is so horrible; he can't afford anything else.
- simpleid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15hint: some people don't squander their wealth. some people enjoy that lifestyle.
having a 90k+ salary doesn't mean you -have- to show it off.- GMorgan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Where did you get that insane idea.
- bstew22, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1hint: pretty sure it was a joke.
- cruocitae, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Oh yeah, neither can Bill Gates.. or Ballmer.. or Jobs.. POOOR programmers, oh my god.. Thank god there are still so chivalrous people who make our life easier when they can't even afford a good car.. :D
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Ballmer isn't a programmer and Jobs hasn't programmed in ages.
- knetworx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Just for the record, a computer science degree from a respectable university can pretty well guarantee at least $50k/year straight out of school. It's pretty easy to make a comfortable living off $50k/year if you know how to budget.
- magic6435, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"It's pretty easy to make a comfortable living off $50k/year if you know how to budget."
what the hell are you doing when it takes carefull budgeting to make it on 50 grand a year...............
- magic6435, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"It's pretty easy to make a comfortable living off $50k/year if you know how to budget."

- haentz, on 10/10/2007, -22/+9This jsut didn't already made the Frontpage becaus the [PIC] is not in the title
- scuzzman, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29Was this a caption on a LOLCAT or something?
- fpcyber, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9In english this would mean?
- minigamer1896, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think what haentz was trying to convey, is that there is a duplicate article that didn't end up making the front page due to the possibility that [pic] isn't in its title.
- ayeroxor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Oh great, now we have a Yoda-speaker in a lolcat thread.
- sdizier, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1That IS Awesome
- bjs3171, on 10/10/2007, -18/+4uh...what?

- MasterScorch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+33So... you are an idiot too?
- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -5/+73People were sending this to mailing lists 13 YEARS ago. Why do you losers waste your time on reddit?
- knetworx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8This was taped on people's office doors 50 YEARS ago. Why do you losers waste your time on the internet?
(....anybody who misses the sarcasm in my comment is retarded.) - eyefork, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This picture was what blew up during the big bang.

- mossblaser, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23WTF are you doing wasting your time here to know? Piss off and enjoy your reddit, i'll enjoy my digg.
- TomFrost, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26Well.. *you're* obviously here. Why don't you tell us why you waste YOUR time here?
- arjung, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12dugg for proper you're/your usage.

- robmoff2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15ummmm... let me see... yep, it's probably the exact same reason you waste your time here.
- Jeifurie, on 10/10/2007, -21/+3Haha yup, you're still all losers.
- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12enjoying the company of your fellow losers?

- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Please, explain why you are still here? I'm all ears
- Jeifurie, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3It's funny to see you guys get all annoyed and angry ^.^
- Smills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, you are therefore clearly coming here for the same reason as way too many others. A great proportion of digg is simply people that like starting arguments and flame wars. You are one of us!
- nontitle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Congratulations. You got nothing out of it.
People from reddit will do just the same thing. - Cloud7654, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Congratulations on becoming my first blocked person Jeifurie!
- Jeifurie, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3It's funny to see you guys get all annoyed and angry ^.^
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Please, explain why you are still here? I'm all ears
- ElectricDoodie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You come to Digg, you look at the article, then you look at the picture, then you comment about us being losers for doing the exact same thing you've been doing. Then you check back to comment... twice.
- firebhaal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3didn't know reddit was recruiting cranky 14 year olds to do their dirty work
- convergent, on 10/10/2007, -21/+10errrr.....am i one of the only ones who doesn't get it?
- daveisfera, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26Yes. Yes, you are.
- dpowre, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7i dont get it either
- simpleid, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17lol whoa, you're on the wrong website, why don't you go run along to youtube.
- shortcircuit13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16When programmers are confronted with a bug in a finalized piece of software, the default response is "It's a feature, not a bug."
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Thank you. NOW I understand.
And thank you jerk-offs who would rather insult the people who don't understand an, obviously, inside joke rather than explain it. Now it's funny.- ElRayQuieres, on 10/10/2007, -12/+3Everything you needed to understand the joke was in the picture.
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Except the key fact that he's not a programmer
- nontitle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8hmm... people will look at the picture and see "car" and "feature". That's not everything you need to understand the joke.
- ElRayQuieres, on 10/10/2007, -12/+3Everything you needed to understand the joke was in the picture.
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Thank you. NOW I understand.

- Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I consider myself a nerd, but I am quite happy thankyou
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Idiot (id-ee-uht):

- stillfocus, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I love it. It always brings a smile to my face whenever I come across some "features"

it's all about the @username replies!- bglav, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I see all comments. Adjust your 'Global Settings' or Expand...
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Most of us do that - but most of us also suppress retard messages (ie, below -4 diggs).

- rowlodge, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17so how much do programmers make anyway?
- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Around here, $50k year, minimum. With a decade of experience under your belt? Probably closer to $100k.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10$101,000 + 4% bonus, so, $105,040, plus benefits...
- simpleid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6i'm 22, at ~50k while still in school. here in [censored, don't want to get all the good jobs taken], the starting wage with a 4yr is around 90k for a java/sharepoint programmer at boa/wach. that's typical where i am.
- akatherder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25Don't bother censoring if you're going to mention BoA and Wachovia. It says Charlotte in your profile too :)
- Jeeum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Could be TIAA-CREF. BoA and Wachovia have the reputation of not paying as well. Or could be BB&T...or maybe he just mentioned the financials to throw us off track.
- nationalist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12he just got pwned

- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12No, it's nerds answering the question of what their income is. You, on the other hand, are an envious little twit who can't help but try and insult people for no reason to make yourself feel better about not making as much money as them.
- dolemite5005, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Nerds work for me.
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6How cute, a 14 year old wishing he had an income!
- TheBigBentley, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3kinda cute to to see someone older sink to a 14 year olds level.
- Jugalator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Huh? The poster asked... So what's your job?
- IllBeBack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No, it said "so how much do programmers make anyway?"

- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Try dealing with programmer mistakes - ie, tech support. I think fast food workers make more than most techs. :-P
- Jugalator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2$45k, 28 years, with around 5-6 years in the business. But that would be much better if I did it in a more populated area, but then the rents would be far higher too. The apartment is $450/month.

Currently $90k plus bonuses. (Front end dev in this case meaning everything on the web servers as opposed to back-end logic and processes)
- hokie47, on 10/10/2007, -14/+8If he is a programmer he is not a very good one. If he was any good he would buy an expensive car to try to compensate for all the years women neglected him and how he was picked last during flag football.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15sounds autobiographical to me...
- simpleid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5you're way out of touch of reality, times have changed
- SinisterBunni, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2No, all of the good programmers I know drive relatively modest cars. They don't need big penis compensators because their big brains are the only bulge they care to show off. They are usually pretty confident and secure about themselves. The ***** programmers, a.k.a.; MIS or CS grad looking to move up the management ladder, usually have the penis mobiles because they are insecure about their place in the world and need to show everyone how impotent they really are (and I meant to say impotent).
- Yurhiness, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Thanks, Doctor Phil.
- wassim2k, on 10/10/2007, -3/+48Damn, IT salaries have really gone down.

YAWN. - stace, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1SHE isn't a he, and isn't a Vista coder. She was a sysadmin at the time that pic was taken.
- sharigan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Firefox.... check about their memory "issues"
- pcpimpster, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0I've never heard a developer call a bug a feature and i ***** program for a living = I'm wound to tight.
- willynilly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You obviously don't talk to Apple developers.
- MrTeQ, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1That's how I roll..
- HowitZer25, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3I might have to get a bug car just to have that plate.
- TheDeRanger, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1pcpimpster, bugs have been touted as features since at least the time the Internet ran on IMPs. Those who don't know history are doomed...etc.
Do you rewrite sort routines instead of using library calls as well :_) - YourTechSupport, on 10/10/2007, -1/+38If you dont get it, it's a software development joke. "It's Not A Bug... It's a Feature!"
- jonshipman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10and if you're young, those cars were commonly referred to as 'bugs'
- littleodie914, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Thanks for clarifying. I get pretty tired of diggers seeing themselves as some sort of "elitists" who feel so "cool" that they get the joke, and then make fun of people who don't.
- shatters, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I think that applies even outside the realm of digg
- Smills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2There is an outside? Oh, you must mean other websites.
- shatters, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I think that applies even outside the realm of digg
- wibambau, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Meh, the analogy would be better if it was a ladybug convention.
I just randomly picked ladybug:
, this will ensure that your bug is really a feature.
This picture is a bug whose license plate is feature.- ElRayQuieres, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Huh?
- ponk, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1No it's not. Its a 'Beetle'
- robbob, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0plate looks shopped
- spankr, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Verrry old... there was a "new" beetle pic going around via email years ago w/ the same plate.
- xeno439, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9cleverest pic I have seen on here in a while. I'd digg it twice if I could.
- ipxodi, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2Buried for being older than most Diggers.
- flatpick, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3BTW, it's not terribly uncommon to see a coder who earns a 6-figure salary driving a POS. Especially the older ones.
- schizogony, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I see no POS in that pic.
- peterbarbosa, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2http://duggmirror.com
- futureisours, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Very witty.

http://www.motorpasion.com/images/2007/05/mazda_pi.jpg - GoldenGlovez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2The developers where I work in Westchester, NY make well over 80k a year, our lead makes over 6 figures. All of them drive 25k and under cars...
- dave6, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Even at 100k, a 25k car would be 3 months pay, and that's before taxes. Also consider they may be married to a spouse making much less, but they still need 2 cars. Two cars, each costing 30-35k, could easily take up a full year's take home pay.
- TheBigBentley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3How do you figure when someone with a descent credit score can get a 30,000 car at 7 years for 600 a month. At most your looking at 15,000 a year. still leaving you with 85,000 for other bills. And if the wife even only make 20,000 year your back up to 105,000 for household income. I think the right answer would be more along the lines of that generally Programmers are just more wise than others making the same income so they choose to spend there money on other things. Like gadgets :p
- Erixxxxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Is this a joke? Someone paying $600 for 7 years for a $30k car does not have what would be called a 'decent' credit score, either that or they got taken. Unless of course youre talking no money down, but since we're talking about programmers my assumption is they wouldnt be so stupid.

- cpostier, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1He must work for Cisco
- dopp5, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Yeah, no idea what it means....
- happyponcho42, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Almost as good as a beatle I saw with the license plate, BYTEMAN.
- blinkenlightz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Feature: A bug with seniority.
- jhnewt, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3I don't even need to look at the picture. I already know what it is.
- Vvolf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I did too and its not even the first i've seen!
