- ghazalparvati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A FF extension at cooliris.com does this.
And Greybox, a JS library, does it also and is very easy to implement on your webpage. At http://orangoo.com/labs/GreyBox/
All found through digging.
I think a new way to surf is emerging. I just hope marketeers wont overuse it. - oyayubizoku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1added note, this product from Snap is a simple snippet of code...NO plugin installation like Cooliris, and unlike the Greybox JS which takes OVER your screen real estate and changes the link behavior making a click trigger an AJAX floating window with elaborate transitions, the Snap product is a zero footprint design and does nothing to modify or change the behavior of the hyperlink, so clicking on it still takes you to the site being linked to... simpler is sometimes better... def makes looking at blogrolls way easier!
- ajaydsouza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've implemented the same on my site http://techtites.com and am quite pleased with the results. You also can prevent internal links so that previews of only external links are displayed.
- dahowlett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But it can take quite a while to load. There is a way around that by sweeping over the link a couple of times but it's not ideal.
- jimsym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you've some permanent url's on a side bar simply get them loaded yourself - after that it's a snap for your visitors to see them without having to wait.
- ajaydsouza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been told that in the next version the snap spider will visit your page, crawl the links and generate the previews for new links.
That way it will prevent you needing to do it manually!
