Ebay Hacked: 'Vladuz', The Ebay Inc Thought Police, & How To Bury Bad News
pheebay.com — Its been quite a week for Ebay & Vladuz. The Romanian hacker first surfaced on Ebay Germany but has since appeared on Ebay.com. Ebay are desperate to keep this quiet. And can you blame them?! It would seem that threads are being promptly censored on Ebay & another site has even been 'intimidated' by Ebay. Now if only Ebay could channel that energy.

Run for the hills people, it's a tsunami ... follow the ants who left for the high ground months ago - giovanni666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What comes next, room 101?
Most defineately time to alert the national media. This is simply unacceptable. UnAmerican. UnReal.
If you go read comment #16 on Gary Sattlers Blog, 2-23-07, you will see ebay is apparently suspending members for the mere mention of Vladuz.

- MyNextAuction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2eBay can't keep this under wraps forever, funny how they spent their energy on banning people from their forums or suspending unsuspecting members but they can't use it to improve their security. Must be because it's the easiest thing for them to do. As an eBay user, I'm thinking of listing my items for my next auctions at other online auctions site.

http://www.feedbacksecrets.com/ - vdovault, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll go you one better...tell all your friends about this and then tell them they should close their PayPal accounts and switch to Google Checkout (or some other altenative form of payment for online purchases besides of course wire transfers which are just as bad as PayPal). No money = no ebaY. Real simple.
- BillCobbsEar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I quit EBay ages ago. I mostly sell on EBid and ECrater now.
- artyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ebay had better clean up it's act pretty darn fast else it is finished, folks are already leaving the place to list on the likes of Tazbar.com and the other alternatives that take security a bit more seriously. eBay cares not a jot for either it's buyers or sellers only the bottom line. A corrupt corporate at it's worst, what a shameful example of corporate America!

In the past three weeks, eBay has seen some major problems. Not ONE have they come clean with before it was picked up by the bloggers, not one. They have done nothing to warn their users at all. The issues that are occurring at eBay currently and over the past few weeks include:
1) Prosperpoint.com security breach - Google cached two decrypted lists of user information. eBay said it was taken care of, AFTER they denied it. Some of the ID's on that list are still active.
2) Vladuz hacks into eBay servers - we all know how that is going.
3) trojan.bayrob discovered - A nice man-in-the-middle bug that sends your user info through a proxy server on its way to eBay. Everyone can thank Symantec for warning us, because eBay surely hasn't.
