Any baseball or football player could kick a soccer ball, but I would like to see a soccer player hit a 95mph fast ball, catch a fly ball, turn a double play or catch a football on the run, I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of them couldn't . Oh and can you bend the ball around the wall of players on a free kick and place it perfectly in the upper 90 so the goalie can only watch it go by? Didn't think so.

I can tell you that i would rather take a slapshot to the inside of my leg, really the worst possible except neck or groin than getting elbowed in the face or kicked bare shin by a guy with thighs as thick as any nfl runningback. and i would also like to see your football and baseball players get a set piece past any european goalie. and of course the ESPN would suck all of the big league american sports dicks. maybe you should ask a sports reporting agency besides the one in a country dominated by every other sport in the world than soccer. i mean do you really expect them to be objective in a country where ***** nascar gets better ratings than the stanley cup?

          If you ever watch the players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Ronaldiniho with their crazy ballhandling skills, then you'll know how skilled soccer players are and how challenging it is to put yourself in a position to compete with any soccer player.
          P.S. Soccer players act alot, get over it. Football players do it some times too (i.e. Willie Mcginest vs the Indy colts, when he pretended to get injured so the team could rest, then came out and stopped Edge James at the goal line to win the game. He then celebrated by running the length of the field).

          I'm good at soccer, quite good actually, but guess what? I suck at basketball. I have a friend who is awesome at basketball but he sucks at soccer? Interesting.. well, not really. I've seen him do some impressive things and he's seen me do impressive things but neither of us would be able to do what the other did without a decent amount of time playing that sport.

          As far rugby, well, I'm Australian and I've played it a fair bit in my years but I'd say I've received worse injuries in soccer. Rugby is crazy though, especially on the occasions we'd play it in high school -- we actually weren't allowed to without a teacher's supervision.

    • kanabiis, on 06/24/2008, -0/+6Not off the keeper on a throw in, actually not off any player on a thrown in....... some would argue its an obscure rule, but any coach worth his salt insures his strikers know it, any offensive player worth his salt should always be on the lookout to take advantage of the rule.

      If you receive the ball directly on a throw in, goal kick or corner kick then off sides rule does not apply. Technically the moment the keeper dropped the ball outside of his box it was a throw in negating any offsides rule as the striker just became the receiver of the throw in the moment the ball touched the ground and he was the first player to make contact with it.

      Why this 'professional' goal keeper let this slip his mind I have no idea, although it has happened this isn't the first video I have seen of the tactic.

      What the keeper should have done was either a) retreat back to the box and dropped the ball to kick into the field of play, had the striker followed him into the box he would have drawn a penalty, OR b) the goal keeper should have just drop kicked the ball into the field of play, the opponent would have never had an opportunity to make a play on the ball AND would have been in jeopardy of an immediate offsides trap.

A player is only penalised for being offside if he is passed to by someone on his own team while in an offside position. This guy just stole the ball from someone on the other team.

But you can pass BACKWARDS to an offside player and it's perfectly legit. It's hard to tell from the angle of the video, but the second pass looks like a backwards pass.

Judging by your comments on digg i just need to repeat my self and say to take a look at your life again. A visit to the psychologist at this age might ensure that your life does not turn out to be a complete failure. Sadly, however I have my doubts.
