- FeargusMcDuff, on 06/29/2008, -22/+2Hackers was an awful movie.
- jedisushi, on 06/29/2008, -0/+17No it wasn't.
- Phoenixfury, on 06/29/2008, -0/+14FeargusMcDuff is an even more awful commenter.

- FeargusMcDuff, on 06/29/2008, -22/+2Hackers was an awful movie.
- snatchmstr, on 06/29/2008, -2/+93It's ironic that not only was this country founded on ignoring copyright law but that was how Hollywood was founded in the first place.
- sega01, on 06/29/2008, -1/+62I know which show I will be pirating, er, sharing, in a few months :-).
- Sil369, on 06/29/2008, -1/+6What station will it air on??
(please not FOX please not FOX)- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -4/+2OMG fox isn't even worth me moving my finger to the shift button (btw my fave shows always get cancelled prematurely like FireFly did)
- boobyman, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4I like Family Guy, Simpsons, American Dad and House. They have good shows but horrible reporters and broadcasters.
- rpgmaker, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2Fox and Fox News are waaaay too different channels. The Fox entertainment channel is good.
- Muncher, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2They canceled Futurama. Enough said.
- Burn, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Except that they cancel all their good shows.
- Sil369, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1My q wasn't answered!!!
- Zylog, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2May I be able to "borrow" a copy? :)

- Sil369, on 06/29/2008, -1/+6What station will it air on??
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 06/29/2008, -2/+32Not that I ever felt bad pirating, but now I even feel good about it.

- MalusMalo, on 06/29/2008, -21/+21Pirates > Ninjas
- Goblin, on 06/29/2008, -1/+31Rubbish - it was originally going to be a show about ninjas, but ninjas can never be captured on camera.
- Atomic1fire, on 06/29/2008, -0/+6and the real pirates had too much rum to be accepted on television
- Dr3w, on 06/29/2008, -0/+5Ninjas don't need a show, they already have a parade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49fVYmO3yv0

- Goblin, on 06/29/2008, -1/+31Rubbish - it was originally going to be a show about ninjas, but ninjas can never be captured on camera.
- Goose31, on 06/29/2008, -1/+53I hope they'll release it through BitTorrent.
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 06/29/2008, -1/+20I hope they don't. That would just be preaching to the choir. I hope they release it somewhere that people ignorant of what piracy is really about will be able to see it.
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+10I personally agree with both of you, i think they should do both
- teddyrux, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4Absolutely agree with that...But assuming they have limited resources and only release it on BitTorrent, it then becomes OUR duty, as the pirates, to help the show become better known through our own personal means. In the same way that you redeem yourself for downloading music by telling your friends about it and going to the concert, you must then teach the non-pirates of the pirate ways and how they should be perceived.
- synergye, on 06/29/2008, -0/+11I hope that they'll also release it on bittorrent.
- JQP123, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1It may be preaching to the choir but they *have* to release it through BitTorrent in order for the show to have any credibility. Otherwise, it's all just hypocrisy --- do as we say but not as we do.
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 06/29/2008, -1/+20I hope they don't. That would just be preaching to the choir. I hope they release it somewhere that people ignorant of what piracy is really about will be able to see it.
- Moriko20x6, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7wow, im totally inspired....cant wait

- doshindude, on 06/30/2008, -2/+1and by DVR you mean download it on The Pirate Bay. Yarr.
- MetalGear7, on 06/29/2008, -9/+3That show will probably get Pirated online
- KingGorilla, on 06/29/2008, -1/+2At least put some effort into!
- boobyman, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5Hello Mr. Obvious.

- LifesSweetDrug, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Point the obvious out. You can already steel his book.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 06/29/2008, -4/+17i thought it was going to be a tv show about actual pirates. it would be cool to have a show about an undercover pirate that just starts out on a real pirate crew. then he makes his way up through trickery, and eventually leading a mutany and becoming captain.
- Culyt, on 06/29/2008, -0/+3I would totally watch that.
I'm surprised there isn't a pirates of the Caribbean spin off in the works.
☢
- Culyt, on 06/29/2008, -0/+3I would totally watch that.
- johndavidjack, on 06/29/2008, -8/+1I can't wait until they make another retarded show about how vikings were important too, complete with the drinking/pillage/rape scenes...
The entertainment industry is running out of ideas... - benologist, on 06/29/2008, -6/+2A movie about how desperate our society is to congratulate itself for every little thing they do - not failing a class, clicking the digg button, signing an online poll, and now even just downloading a movie - would be an interesting documentary.
- BonersMilloy, on 06/29/2008, -5/+31***** the RIAA?
- EmitStop, on 06/29/2008, -0/+23Yes, of course.

- plup, on 06/29/2008, -0/+19Yeah, why not.
- Zylog, on 06/29/2008, -1/+4***** successfully.
Would you like to try again? (Y)es/(N)o/F(ail)/(E)xit to DOS - baylat, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1no, its supposed to be on full caps
- peaceninja, on 06/29/2008, -4/+6I looked up the etymology of "Yankee" and this video (see what it says starting at 2:30) greatly exaggerates or outlandishly lies about its origins. Makes me wonder what other kinds of things it could be exaggerating. This is disappointing since I really did like the video.
- rayfiend, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4Actually, peaceninja, the Oxford English Dictionary supports the etymology. Here is the excerpt from it:
".....that the word has been evolved from North American Indian corruptions of the word English through Yengees to Yankees (Heckewelder, Indian Nations iii. ed. 1876, p. 77); cf. YENGEES...............Perhaps the most plausible conjecture is that it comes from Du. Janke, dim. of Jan John, applied as a derisive nickname by either Dutch or English in the New England states (J. N. A. Thierry, 1838, in Life of Ticknor, 1876, II. vii. 124). The existence of Yank(e)y,.......
......1683 Cal. St. Papers, Colon. Ser. (1898) 457 They [sc. pirates] sailed from Bonaco..; chief commanders, Vanhorn, Laurens, and Yankey Duch. 1684 Ibid. 733 A sloop..unlawfully seized by Captain Yankey"
It's pretty long, but that's the part that confirms it. It's a pay site; that's why I didn't link it. I'd give the whole etymology, but it's huge. Anyway, I hope that's helpful. Thought I'd share (in the spirit of whole pirate thing -- the OED does actually permit quoting; I just wish everyone had access to it.)
- rayfiend, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4Actually, peaceninja, the Oxford English Dictionary supports the etymology. Here is the excerpt from it:
- trumpcard, on 06/29/2008, -1/+20Ask our beloved friends in RIAA to watch the show.
202-775-0101. - socoolisme, on 06/29/2008, -1/+15Sharing is caring.
- kevro, on 06/29/2008, -3/+3a few months back when I was in LA talking to Disney, Matt told TorrentFreak, adding “We are trying to get this made into a 13-part TV show.”
That really doesn't seem like something Disney would be interested in.- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Actually Disney is interested in any big topic that will earn them money. Not that I don't like Disney, but they are a Corporation.
- dudefather, on 06/29/2008, -4/+21looks mostly like a circlejerk for people who want to download ***** for free. I pirate stuff, but I'm not going to pretend I'm some kind of internet crusader who is pushing the boundaries of human society or whatever, I would rather not pay money for things because I am cheap
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2LOL exactly, although he is kinda right, but in the wrong direction. It is not good for the businesses at all, it just usually makes new ones. For example the printing press, was illegal in France, until they kept sneaking the books in, and all the old writers went out of business, and started printing presses.
- Greengoo, on 06/29/2008, -3/+27***** the ARRRR IAA.
- Omek, on 06/29/2008, -6/+2brilliant.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7The fact that the Internet isn't a library because of copyright holders shows there is a need for pirates.
- joemofo214, on 06/29/2008, -8/+1Yes, because a pirates life these days are all about pirating, no having a life or a job or a girlfriend
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Actually I have a DAMN HAWT girlfriend, and i pirate stuff all the time.
- N0153T4NK, on 06/29/2008, -0/+0Buried for lies, as well the use of caps and HAWT.
- joemofo214, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1people need sarcasm radars....
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Actually I have a DAMN HAWT girlfriend, and i pirate stuff all the time.
- Atomic1fire, on 06/29/2008, -2/+8Anyone else misread Jesse Alexander as Jason Alexander (George from Seinfeld)
- sevenalive, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2LOL I'm Bootlegger!
- redrum781, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Jerry was the bootlegger IIRC.
- Redge, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Yeah I did! Heheheh! Glad to see I'm not the only one!
- D14BL0, on 06/29/2008, -2/+29And just to further ***** with the minds at the RIAA, I'm going to actually PAY for DVDs of this show.
- TruthLies, on 06/29/2008, -9/+2Please. Steal what you can get, but don't pat yourself on the back thinking you're doing anyone a favor but yourself.
The video claims piracy is a good thing, but uses examples of people putting up their own, original content on the web. It uses the example of providing other people with valuable medicine as a positive, and somehow expects that same logic to extend to the common use of piracy to take music/movies for one's own gain.
Are you really pushing boundaries when you download the latest film off the Bay, or are you serving your own selfish needs? I know which one I'm doing, and I don't need to kid myself otherwise.- MozzieTS, on 06/29/2008, -1/+2if you could fill your need to have the latest movie right onto your computer instead of being DRM locked out of your own content, legally... how much would you be willing to pay for that?
the MPAA isn't offering, What other options do you have?
Napster was the demand for itunes..- TruthLies, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1You're confusing need with desire. People need medicine; they don't need movies, and they certainly don't need it on their computers. They want it, and instead of waiting for a market to arise, they took.
Piracy isn't filling a void for suffering children; it's filling stretches of suburban boredom for tech-savvy tweens. And at its core, it's a method by which companies are losing control of how they sell their products.
Let's keep that in mind - these films are products. If the product doesn't fill your needs, you shouldn't buy it, but you shouldn't steal it. It's the film companies' job to keep you interested and put out a product that you're willing to buy. It's not their job to make sure you don't steal that product instead.
The correct response to an incorrectly running business is boycott. However, Joe Consumer is too impatient to take that approach, so he dons a black bandana. Things shouldn't have to be taken at gunpoint, and in a free market they don't need to be. People just don't want to take the time to push for change in the right way. - benitojuarez, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Hows the weather back there in 1903 TruthLies?
- conostrov, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I think you missed the point: piracy encourages that original content and innovation.Of course most acts of piracy are selfish. Of course most acts of piracy are not positive (in and of themselves). No one is saying otherwise. That doesn't mean however it doesn't have consequences that are very positive and could out weight those costs on the whole. I understand your not against piracy, but your message implied you think it is generally destructive to creators/the market, and that I disagree with. No matter how selfish, piracy should always be an opinion(IMO). Assuming it always is the best is foolish to me and i think in general that is true of most people.
As for music/movies is not medicine argument:
If you think your aren't affected as a potential content creator by having open access to full-version software, music, movies, ect. Then some new self-analyzing maybe necessary. New ideas don't happen in isolation of their environment, and not everyone has the resources/needs/intent to pay market value for each of those raw ideas.
It might be easier of it to think this way:
You stick a child in a life full of toys, and you stick another child with minimal, both may end up being inspired to create new innovations, but which is more likely?
- TruthLies, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1You're confusing need with desire. People need medicine; they don't need movies, and they certainly don't need it on their computers. They want it, and instead of waiting for a market to arise, they took.
- DiggJunkie, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2Not always for myself sometimes for my friends to.
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I totally agree I use TPB every day of my life, and I know its just cuz im a cheap guy who spends to much money on everything else, to pay for movies, games, music, and software.
- unitedatheism, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1How about this:
"We will continue to use bit torrent 'til the day music industry will accept the new tech lifestyle and let us download songs by the day of release, with no limitations like DRM and in an affordable, fair charge"?
That day I'll gladly pay like one dolar a movie (that's likely to be a tenfold worth or more of what it cost for them, including the money spent on making the movie/song) and they'll certainly kill piracy.
But they will have to be "just" a rich business, not an ultra-billionaire business, and they don't want to give up their ferraris and so I think that day will not come without fighting..
- MozzieTS, on 06/29/2008, -1/+2if you could fill your need to have the latest movie right onto your computer instead of being DRM locked out of your own content, legally... how much would you be willing to pay for that?
- Sihing, on 06/29/2008, -2/+4Downloaded the book, with every intention of being an advocate.
- picpak, on 06/29/2008, -2/+2I just got my dad hooked on The Pirate Bay. Now he'll have something to download.
- Spyke17, on 06/29/2008, -2/+0I think I might have heard the parade once, a slight whooshing sound.....Best day of my life!
- fxu1989, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1You can bet your ass I will download this!
- completerobot, on 06/29/2008, -1/+6I gotta say, I was kinda let down when I found out that this was about internet pirates.
- Lemm, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4so was i :'(
A good (sea) Pirate TV show influenced by Heroes and Lost would be amazing!- tiekue, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0it really would. I am addicted to both of those shows.
- Lemm, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4so was i :'(
- turkeyjerkey, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1So interested in seeing something like this. The subject of pirates being able to excite change in a society that may be too stubborn to see the benefits of certain courses of action would be a very interesting case study.
- phazmDOTcom, on 06/29/2008, -3/+2Razor and Blade, man.
- xxsiriusxburnxx, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1haha, even though Hackers was unrealistic as hell, I still love that movie, I commend this comment, lol Hack The Planet!
- Kristijan12, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1No dilemma for me, I am for a long time part of it!

- sfacets, on 06/30/2008, -1/+5Some may call us Pirates, others may call us awesome sharing and caring people.
...Ok stick with Pirate. - my10cent, on 06/30/2008, -3/+0Pirates signals marked problems huh? so burglars signal that there is a problem in the marked of home security? *lol* this is the most hilarious thing I have heard all week.
- Redge, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1It's not the same thing at all.
The studios and majors should wake up and see that piracy exist because it's the best option for people right now. Why should I pay for cable and a DVR when I can download TV Shows and watch it without ads?
- Redge, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1It's not the same thing at all.
- Chris4, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I'll be sure to download it.
- Aurabolt, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6I always smile when I watch this

http://cristgaming.com/pirate.swf - ForestRangerBen, on 06/30/2008, -2/+1This is going to be lame, just like cavemen
- unitedatheism, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2If they release the movie in a 4.7 ISO file download for something like 5 dollars, I'm gonna buy it.
- kerrek, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1really interesting information. I think pirates is useful
- M724, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Every "good" thing needs a dark side to stay ahead of, or it will end up being dull.
