On the other hand, if the RIAA subpoenaed the site you downloaded them from, you could be in a bit of trouble (although not as much as with P2P, since you're not actually distributing anything).

- Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's a usefull trick, but I it's no more leagle than using P2P, generally harder to find full albums and often has longer download times/lower quality. On the other hand, it may be usefull for those behind a work firewall or whose IP throttles bandwidth, so I'll digg.

If google disabled it, it would be cencorship and I'm sure there'd be plenty of contraversy, and it will always be a niche service compared to P2P, and with thousands of sites providing the surface (rather than a few tracker sites in the case of bittorrent) the RIAA will have a tough time stopping it - just look how successful they've been with bittorrent.
