- PeteRossetti, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4The YouTube video looks like the sort of thing that could work for me.
see it here http://www.downloadsquad.com/2006/10/20/scrybe-the-online-productivity-suite-im-dying-to-try/- hchaudh1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am at work, so I can't really check it out. But the idea looks awesome.
I am thinking though how long before the big players latch on to this. I mean just the other day I saw a demo where some guy hooked up to Google Calendar through Apache Derby (a reaaalllyyy small DB engine, less than 2 MB runtime) and he could use Google Calendar offline too. Its definitely doable. - merr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Direct YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u3ekzwnYxw
- Micrll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8For a product demonstration video it actually is very well prepaired and informative. Im definantly giving it a try when it comes out.
- eNthem, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2The part where he writes "dentist appointment" he misspells the word appointment... LOL.
- hchaudh1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am at work, so I can't really check it out. But the idea looks awesome.
- Varrus, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1A teaser:
"In this era of worshipping at the temple of "The David" (Getting Things Done), there is no shortage of offline and online productivity suites. With that in mind, I rarely get all that excited about the new Web 2.0 offerings that get a bit of buzz here and there. But Scrybe appears to be different.
Way different.
Like wow different."- willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Like, not yet released different
- rkettner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11This actually looks pretty good. I expected another wannabe app, but it actually seems pretty usable. That said, I wonder if they will have the finances and server capabilities to support enough people to get this anywhere before Google or MS launches their next generation versions.
- midgetpets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12all they really need is enough resources to get them in a position to be bought out by someone else for an exorbitant amount of money.
- student69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If it does get bought I really hope google is the one that buys it. I would love to see these features added to Gcal. This is very cool and I will give it a try, but it will have to blow me away for it to replace Gcal.
- Unbathed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Is there a mobile mode? I want an organizer that will work with a palm-size portable device.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What is "etc away" and why is this app blowing it?
- russryba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's the new Linux mobile configuration application for syncing all your Linux server settings when you travel and have to use your friends Linux server. This way you just run "etc away" and the spare print server becomes your new lamp box. Awesome.
- Varrus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1LOL - there's only so much room in the title, y'know?!
- Micrll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I used to use Gcal - but when the dorm connection goes down im screwed as my calender is only online, offline mode would be great for when im also out of wireless range
I just hope for some type of palm sync capabilites, but at the very least it says on the website that you can import and export, considering gcal does not export this could be very useful. - k4st, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that looks awesome!!
- kayakto, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3i logged in only to say
from the video - this app is AWESOME.
if u have spare 5 mins - check the teaser vid out. this application looks really impressive
i wonder how its done really - that it works offline.. especially that firefox doesnt really have "temporary internet files" (it does - but default like 50 megs) - phronko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9If this synced with cell phones, other mobile devices, and other calendar applications (e.g. iCal), it would be perfect. I was impressed with the video.
- hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Totally agree.
- bostux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sweet...
Palm sync would make this a must have product from the looks of things. I have been waiting for a tool like this - crosswick, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Was this app actually made by Apu?
In all seriousness, this looks very promising. I especially like the way it syncs up with paper :-) And that it works offline too. That's perhaps the biggest thing about it, and a feature that Google Mail/Calendar/Docs really should adopt too. - NavinRJohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I want this yesterday.
- adam.skinner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://iscrybe.com/
Register for a beta account at the bottom of the page.- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"Thank you for submitting your email.
You will be emailed when the first public beta is available."
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"Thank you for submitting your email.
- sikkdog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1if i were that busy i would probably have to buy a missile launcher and go Michael Douglas [www.imdb.com/title/tt0106856/] on a couple of structures.
- thespace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5was this developed in dhtml, flash, flex?
I swear it looks like flex
Freaking awesome btw - 83457, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is this Flex/Flash based? Would make sense as there are many more offline storage options and capacity than browser based applications.
- thespace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think it is, look at the scrollbars, totally flex. I'm really really really digging flex, I'm creating a website project with it now and I'm totally impressed with the speed of dev, especially with a ror backend
- 83457, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Macromedia was promoting this ability for "Occasionally Connected" in flash based web applications a few years ago.
"Ajax" apps could do this by using a small flash file with an api for local storage and related functionality. - jon3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you like Flex, then I seriously recommend you check out OpenLaszlo
http://www.openlaszlo.org/
- christkv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would say flex or flash. Way to smooth for DHTML but hey who knows. Are they doing crazy cookie storage ?
- BobbyOnions, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6"Sneak peak"? For *****'s sake.

- superheroboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Try calgoo. It's what I use for Google Calendar offline. http://www.calgoo.com/
- protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6When I see that there are so many competing products in this field, it makes me wonder while I'm not organized... Meh, I'll do it later...
- Quash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is quite an innovative product. They have conceptualized very interesting and dynamic solutions for common problems. As someone noted above, once you can synch with Palms, they'll be gold, but their Printable Pocket versions of calendars are a cool idea, implemented well, as are most of their other ideas.
If I was Google, I'd be embarrassed that my huge company and development teams trail Scrybe by a distance. These guys are prime buyout targets, which is how they seem to be positioning themselves. If I were Google, I'd be cherry picking these ideas very quickly before a competitor buys them out and launches a product that is better than theirs.
Be sure to watch the video. - etank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Google step it up or you will lose some users to this app.
- burgertime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Scrybe should give some credit to U of MD's Prof. Ben Bederson, who invented the focus + context or "DateLens" calendar interface about 4 years ago.
I used his DateLens application on my old iPaq for years... very useful for putting lots of data on a small screen.
there's a great demo of Bederson showing off the app to Bill Gates back in 2002 on the site.
http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/datelens/ - noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's not blowing jack ***** away until it's actually released.
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if only it would sync palm and outlook! Please please, why are all online calendar tools isolated from the mobile devices?
- jzamoras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, there is no serious app to sync gcal and outlook yet. Companionlink trashed my gcal twice!!
- dextroz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Dugg for zidane!
- jzamoras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1this the future!! I hope it will work with fatlook.
- dextroz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apparentl, Google had some similar ideas behind Notebook and GCal but looking at this demo, they failed miserably at the execution level. Notebook and Calendar are a total disaster riddled with bugs and abandonment from their developer team who are instead focusing on ***** features like 'weather' and google doodles.
- jzamoras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unless google buy them!!
- xixor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The 'thought pad' where you can save notes and images from websites into the calendar looks very cool. Be interesting to have that tie into a different website/blog instead of iscrybe.
- clesters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Schedule Friday Oct 20, 2006:
Go home eat a hot pocket and take a nap.
Damn this thing is incompatible with my 17 other calendars... how am I supposed to share this data? - mGee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the first web app that makes me begin to believe in web apps as a replacement to desktop apps.
Though, I still don't like the idea of my personal data being stored on a remote server.- shitthisfook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a strong feeling that this will allow you to save those HTML snippets (or anything else) directly onto your HD. It's one of their selling oints.
- Xinex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's neat, for sure, but I would most like Backpack to add some of these features. Offline mode and calendar syncing would be extremely helpful.
- neopara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This website is built using OpenLaszlo.
Check out the website demo for calander or world clock.
http://www.openlaszlo.org
60% of the web app is from these examples.
For the offline mode, check out dojo's storage api:
http://codinginparadise.org/weblog/2006/04/now-in-browser-near-you-offline-access.html
I hope that helps those with question about the web app.- jon3k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If it really is flash based this is some great timing, with Adobe just releasing a Beta of Flash Player 9 for linux. Now even us whiney linux hippies will be happy :)
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Google needs to snatch this company right up. Thumbs up on its potential.
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg because of the Freakonomics plug in the video.
- hash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great looking app. It'll be worth trying, just from watching that video.
- kevinarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What an awesome app. I'll try it out when they release it. (Also downloaded CalGoo. Pretty slick)
BTW, First time I've ever seen a Digg article with so many positive comments and so few negative ones. Sounds like the community is really behind this one. - djgargamel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Offline access is a REALLY good idea. Is scrybe the first to do this?
- SgtBeavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1After watching that video, registering for the beta is simply a no-brainer. If this webapp delivers what it promises it will be HUGE.
