Screen Capture Sharing with AllPeers
allpeers.com — “One other cool thing about AllPeers is that sharing screen captures is now a no-brainer. Press the “Prt Sc” key on your keyboard, click on the “Share” button and “Paste from Clipboard”. That’s it“.

Allpeers screen-name: corevette- Veamon, on 10/12/2007, -28/+8This is the gayest ***** ever. I can just press the print screen key, load up IrFran, and press ctrl-v, and voila.
Hell, I can copy and load up photoshop and the new image will automatically be sized to match my screenshot.
And Kevin Rose dug it? I thought he knew something about computers...guess he's too busy trying to act cool with his "beers" like a retarded frat boy. - affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7http://www.duggmirror.com/software/Screen_Capture_Sharing_with_AllPeers/
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2RadiatedAnt here at allpeers im new to it just installed it so anyone willing to add me im sure it'd be fun p2peering ;)
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't seem to send a message through allpeers the send button is missing ;S??

- jpbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The "PrtSc" key will always take a screenshot and dump it onto the clipboard. You can then Paste the image into any Windows app that accepts bitmaps from the clipboard.
(I don't believe PrtSc works with DirectX windows, just your run-of-the-mill Windows windows)- jpbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Also FWIW, I prefer to use MWSnap for my screenshotting needs:
http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html
It can capture individual windows, menus, and custom rectangles. You can also add mouse cursors and borders, among other features. And it's free (as in beer). - localhostroot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2it's really pathetic that people don't know what "Print Screen" does in windows.
- magus424, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4PrintScreen works with DirectX and OpenGL windows just fine, what you're thinking of are videos being played using overlay. Those instances will end up with a blank square instead of video.
- foxmuldr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15A little known fact: Alt+PrtScr will capture only the active window image.
- jpbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Also FWIW, I prefer to use MWSnap for my screenshotting needs:
- RobRobRob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I just installed this program, and it changed my browser homepage to their registration page. Even after uninstalling, I cannot change it back. This is a very beta release, I would not recommend it to the public yet.
- PowerCow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2did you read the instructions?
that will happen until you reg, either disable or uninstall the app until you are ready to check it out.
It is beta though, so remember that before you install..
I personally didnt like the sidebar.. but havent spent enough time to say if you can make it go away perminately - oslointhesummer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Worked fine for me. I am surprised they didn't implement some sort of bug reporting system though.
- PowerCow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2did you read the instructions?
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Looks like their web site needs a screen shot. Less than 75 diggs and it crashes. Nice...
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1On a mac you hit command control shift 3 to take a screenshot, or command control shift 4 and drag across the screen to only capture part of the screen. Then you go to ichat and paste into the chat window. It's well implemented and it's been around since tiger.
- davebobak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@ jpbro
You can use this app to prevent that middle step. It takes a screenshot and copies it to a file in your clipboard, not image data in your clipboard.

- plasticmillion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Matt from AllPeers here. Digg Effect is in full force apparently.
The blog is straining right now (apparently the database backend is overloaded) but in the meantime you can check out our homepage: www.allpeers.com.- Veamon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6This is a joke. I've been able to do this for years. Goodbye.
- chrisek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Sorry Matt :)
BTW great plugin, hope to see more updates and features.

Not my blog - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It does eliminate a few steps if you show people screenshots often, but I'm not so sure it fills THAT much of a need.
- Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"By the way, in case you did not know either, you can also select any text from a Webpage and just drag it onto the Share form to share the text. This one I already knew about it. Did you?"
I really, really hope I'm not the only one laughing at this entire, uh, concept. - Doomhammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm probably in a bit late, but it appears that this blog's database crapped its pants... :P
- shuffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Hey! Ctrl-C copies text and Ctrl-V pastes it too! Do I win a prize?
- bigern75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use imageshacks quickshot ;)
- hass, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Come share with me!
screen-name: hass - dbug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, a feature in a firefox extension is now news. AMAZING! AWESOME!
I wouldn't bother to write this if Allpeers wasn't on the frontpage already yesterday...
Seriously, this is lame. - mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The app was dugg a LONG time ago, people signed up for the beta release notification - THATS why the homepage is down. Not just the 75 people that dugg it are using it. I personally started using it a couple hours before this story was submitted and it just now went down.
Its an EXCELLENT app tho, especially for anyone who works in different geographic locations with others on collaborative projects, etc.
Maybe the "digg effect" will be short-lived. - digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Amazing, you can also copy with Ctrl+C and Paste with Ctrl+V ! what will they think of next
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5FOUR MEGABYTES?!
A 4mb FireFox extension?!
What the *****?!- mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3think of it as a standalone app, integrated with firefox - in the form of an extension
- Fubie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Allpeers is a pretty kewl extension for Firefox and it has alot of potential. Those that are ripping on it may want to try it before making negative posts.
Last I checked this was not gripe before you try software.
Jeeze, even when you create FREE software people have to get nasty.- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Jeeze, even when you create FREE software people have to get nasty."
Free software does not always equal good software. There are a lot of concerns about AllPeers regarding the functionality of the software, the legal and privacy issues and also about the intentions of the creators.
Usually, some scepticism is very well indicated when there is an unusual amount of hype generated around a free piece of software.
Also check out this story (not submited by me):

- kgilkerson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Just throwing it out there: my allpeers screen name is kgilkerson. Add me if you want.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not going anywhere near AllPeers.
I've read this site for years, and come to trust their judgement as well as the judgement of those that comment on its stories.
http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=1276- fdd2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good article. I feel what discussed in the article is quite true. Compared with other p2p software such as Freenet and Mute, the techology used in AllPeers is very basic. Mostly just hype. The reason it is only an extension is because it cannot compete with other p2p clients at all, both in features and in technology. Making it a firefox extension does not make it a good p2p software. It slows your browser down and makes it more likely to crash.

- CodyZ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Can anyone tell me how or what program to use to capture video from my screen?
Thanks- CodyZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2By video I mean motion video, like of me moving my mouse around/opening closing windows etc. Don't negative digg an honest question, especially if you know the answer...just let me know.
- jpbro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2CamStudio has worked well for me in the past:
http://www.camstudio.org/
(free as in speech) - CodyZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool! Thanks, that looks like exactly what I need.
- scubanut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well, i really tried to use it between 3 systems I use, 2 of them behind corp firewalls and one behind a home router. It became so buggy that firefox didn't even want to start up anymore so I sadly had to unistall all of them although I really like the idea. the log files they provide are somewhat disconcerting knowing how much info actually goes back to allpeers. call me blind, but I rather don't want to know what the traffic is and knowing that there actual log files sitting on my box with all sorts of IP and access info troubles me further...just another layer of "breach-ability"....
- god4twenty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was excited when I was notified that the beta was available for allpeers. After 2 days I completely uninstalled it, and by no suprise most all of the people I sent an invite to also uninstalled. It's crap. I beta test a lot of software and this one is horrible. The idea has promise but the implementation here is very poor.
- kraven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1can anyone share with me. ive installed allpeers and i need someone to share. jus to try how it works :)
screename: likely - grimholtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Recipients of anything you share must be online; i.e., THEY HAVE NO INTERMEDIATE STORAGE. Lame. I'll stick with pando.com or even yousendit for the simple stuff.
- grimholtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or hamachi.cc, of course
