These need to be placed in XBMC/system/players/mplayer/codecs.

lol I've never seen that either - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6Always smart to provide illegal links and FTP info on a public comment system, especially since this is digg...
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -20/+9Sorry to rain on the parade but it is ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD XBOX BINARIES. Now you can dig me down all you want but honestly I'm speaking on behalf of the XBMC team who if here would be telling you the exact same thing (as being discussed in the XBMC IRC channel right now).
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I don't understand why it's less illegal to post it here than it is to advertise it openly in a bot message. It's the exact same, but in the bot message it's a few more steps, but in the end is no better, and guess what? Microsoft doesn't care. I know, it's illegal to have stuff from the XDK that isn't signed, but Microsoft just doesn't care.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10drakethegreat: It's also illegal to compile them, unless you happen to own a legal copy of Microsoft's XBox SDK, which I dount 99.9% of Modded Xbox owners do
The XBMC Team knows that everyone who runs it is running an illegal copy. Do you really think they spent years making this program, just so 15 guys who have the SDK can play with it? - NotZero, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16EGO:

http://zero.nowherefast.com/Xbox/XDK/IM000591.jpg - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its not about who the team expects to be using it. Its about your safety on the net. They don't like public disclosure of locations where you can download the binaries because it makes it easier for Microsoft to shut them down. They expect you to be intelligent and find it yourself. Its not about elistism but rather the idea that if they do not publically disclose this information, the sources might operate longer. Ultimately if these sources get shut down then it would be hard for them to give it to people who don't have an XDK. Its common sense and its the same reason why people don't just setup websites anymore that disclose FTP information to topsites, etc.

"[19:18:23] 230- There are currently 62 out of 50 maximum connections." - posure, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I love XBMC, congrats to the team!
- SuneMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17This is great. Finally a 2.0 release. XBMC is still the best media-center solution out there. There's only 720 progressive reasons or 1080 interlaced reasons to run 360 instead of XBMC on a Xbox (1). But the infamous DivX and Xvid disappointment keeps me hanging. And XBMC is so beautiful as well.
Xbox 1 and XBMC truly rules the world.
Thanks all developers. This is a great day. You prove that fantastic software can be completely free!- Sl4sher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I hope you do realize that with a component cable pack XBMC will render at 720p or 1080i and will upscale whatever video you are watching to those resolutions. The only thing that XBMC can't do is play true high def videos that were all the rage earlier this year. But on the other hand I couldn't get them running smoothly on a 2ghz Athlon 64 either.
- fjc8, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0a 2 ghz althon 64 can't handle hd video?
my 2 ghz pentium m and 1.66 ghz core duo all handle 720p H264 with ffdshow and coreavc.... - Linh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2@fjc8..
you have a core DUO. I'm really curious as to the minimum requirement for HD playback encoded in x/h264. My 2000XP+ will play it.. BARELY. can't multitask worth a damn tho - Stalks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1The Core Duo and Pentium M cannot be compared to by clock speed as those intel chips do much more per clock cycle than the Athlon.
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"The Core Duo and Pentium M cannot be compared to by clock speed as those intel chips do much more per clock cycle than the Athlon."
Core Duo, yes. Pentium M, no. The Pentium M is about equivalent to the Athlon 64/Turion family but the Core (and Core 2) family is quite a bit more efficient. All of these do, however, whup the P4s. I have a 2GHz Turion laptop and it beats the pants off my 3GHz P4 desktop, even with its Mobility X700 compared to desktop X700. - obeseotron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I own and love my 360 and all, but even if it played real formats as a media center, there's no way I would give up XBMC on my original Xbox. Nothing legal or illegal, commercial or open source even comes close to what XBMC was years ago, much less today.
- uzusan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Dirty Sweat Pants not included.
- wicked9, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7This with Blackbolt's MC360 skin and you have a nice little cheap media center, with all the functionality too.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2That's a nice looking skin, thanks. I'm not sure whether I like it better than Project Mayhem, but I'll give it a shot.

use bittorrent. got mine under 2 minutes. - sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13XBMC is the only reason I bought an xbox and I have not been disappointed. Once I figured out there was not enough processor power in the XBox to handle h.264 well and moved to Xvid, I have not had a single problem streaming video. Throw the MC360 skin ( http://blackbolt.x-scene.com ) on this and some emus and you have the best media center there is.
Congrats to the team on reaching 2.0. I appreciate all the hard work!
If you are new to the modded xbox, go here: http://x-scene.com- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Actually, I don't like the MC360 skin. I don't know what it is about it, but I just like the clean layout of PM3 and how things are organized under it, but maybe that's just me.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That's my concern too. I'm about to try it out, but I'm a pretty big fan of Project Mayhem 3. I just don't see anything wrong with it.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. I do like this new skin. I might stick with it. The only problem I see is it's not obvious how to run scripts such as the YouTube one... I haven't figured out how yet. Maybe there isn't even an option.
- sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was all about PM3 too until I tried MC360 and fell in love with the carbon fiber skin. Its like the best of both worlds- PM3+MC360.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm... sounds awesome. I like the feel of PM3, but MC360 is just awesome. I'll check that one out, I suspect I'll love it. Thanks.

@Linh
* The standard 'SLIM' build is like you are used to see from T3CH - it's what's in the XBMC CVS with just a few small additions:

I just hope 2.0 supports more codecs, some files don't play (dl.tv seems to not play that well..atleast the WMV or divx) - fr0chu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...two surprise features; read-only support for FAT12/16/32 formatted USB Mass Storage Devices up to 4GB in size."
Sweet. I've been waiting for usb support for ages. It's worth an upgrade for this alone, in my opinion. Flv support would be awesome, but eh. Much love and thanks to the XBMC team.- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1IIRC, It supports FLV natively, but I could be confused.
- zouden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's supported FLV for a long time. You can even directly stream YouTube videos.
- fr0chu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well, it plays *some* flv, though most I've tried don't show video.
- Fritzed, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Why does this site contain hidden keywords at the bottom of the page? That is a ***** marketing tactic and is more suited for porn than for any kind of free software project.
I find this is very dissapointing because it is a truly good project and shouldn't try and stand on tricking people to it's site.- Araya213, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It's an old school method of getting your page linked on search engines. Back before the days of meta tags it was necessary.
- Stalks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Besides, so what if there are a few hidden words at the bottom of the page. You trash the site just because of something as insignifant as that?
- rimco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have been installing the frequent CVS builds posted on xbins for quite some time, and I am absolutely thrilled that XBMC has finally hit the big 2.0. XBMC is probably THE #1 reason I don't give a honk about X360 or PS3... for innovative games, I'll stick with Nintendo, and for an outstanding media center experience, Xbox Media Center is all I need.
Congratulations to Team XBMC, and my sincerest thanks for making the program that has destroyed my social life (who needs sunlight anyway). - jordantbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Better FAT torrent with seeds!

- MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Can anyone explain this problem I am having with my xbox?
I have a 400 GB drive in my xbox. When I get to around 300GBs used / 100 GBs free it won't let me copy over anything else. I figured it was some kind of "too many files in 1 folder problem" so I wiped the drive and re-copied my games to 3 seperate folders (Games1, Games2, Games3). I get to 300GBs and I still have the same problem. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Mike- vernsan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What bios are you running?
- MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Xecuter2.4981.06 on a xbit chip.
- deadlychicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would recommend posting your question over at forums.xbox-scene.com, in the newbie section. They know everything.
However, your problem seems to be your cluster size =! 32k,
"If a partition is larger than 256GB, the harddrive needs to be formatted with 32k clusters, use XBpartitioner" (http://xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xbox_General_Questions_and_Answers&xbmc_wiki_session=42e3469503f2f95f46af78dc621d30ac#Can_I_install_a_larger_harddisk_drive_into_my_Xbox.E2.84.A2_and_if_so_how.3F)
XBpartitioner can be found at the 'usual places.'
[EDIT] Gamester17 beat me to it if you scroll down - MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@deadlychicken
Thanks a ton for the info!
And you didn't give me any attitude like Gamester17. I've been having this problem for months outside of XBMC.
- lovedaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6XBMC changed the way I watch TV / Films. God bless the XBMC team.
- Gamester17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@MikeMacMan, it actually helps to read the official FAQ and manual:
http://xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xbox_General_Questions_and_Answers&xbmc_wiki_session=42e3469503f2f95f46af78dc621d30ac#Can_I_install_a_larger_harddisk_drive_into_my_Xbox.E2.84.A2_and_if_so_how.3F
See the "Limitations and rules to follow when replacing the harddrive"! - xamox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone have any screenshots?
- deadlychicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google for "xbmc." The improvements are not aesthetic, that is covered by the skin authors. There are 2 main skins: Project Mayhem III, and MC360, look those up to see what it _can_ look like.
- adam8281, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To upgrade from my current XBMC 1.x to this release, can I use the same configuration XML file, or do I need to open both XML files and transfer my settings from the 1.x one to the 2.0 one? I know with previous upgrades from 1.x to 1.x+1, I could just copy over my old configuration XML file and it would work fine.
- madholepunch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i had to move all my bookmark settings from XboxMediaCenter.xml to a file i didn't have previously, in the User Data folder - sources.xml. took me about 20 minutes to figure out why my bookmarks weren't showing up... otherwise, great new build!
- Bullsnot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 Newer versions do not use the XML file for settings. I found it faster to just recreate the bookmarks by hand. The system for adding or editing bookmarks is really easy to use once you find it.
- Gamester17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@xamox, for Project Mayhem skins screen-shot heaven, see http://www.chokemaniac.net

@adam8281, if your build is more than a couple of months old then no, you must use news XML files, ...but I would recommend that anyone installing XBMC 2.0.0 do a clean install anyway, (including deleting all database files and the XBMC memory-save), see the WIKI online-manual and FAQ on http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/ - MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The "FAT" version seems to have some filename problems with it. (Atleast my xbox does)
My xbox file system doesn't like a + in filenames. Ex:
XBMC-2.0.0-FINAL-FAT-T3CHXBMC 2.0XBMCscriptsmyTVsystemlogosCANAL+.gif
My xbox doesn't like file names over 42 characters. Ex:
XBMC-2.0.0-FINAL-FAT-T3CH_extras3D Game IconsGhost_Recon_Advanced_Warfighter_Limited_Special_Edition_Dvd_custom-front.png
It doesn't look like anything important is effected.
Anyone else having these problems too?- naing_oo_1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yep same here!
i've got the "FAT" Version too
- naing_oo_1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yep same here!
- Talus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yay! I can finally upgrade my XBMC build with confidence...I've been waiting a while for this.
Grats to the XBMC team!
I haven't watched 'regular television' in ages.
Somebody needs to write a good Rev3 python applet... - modafokaxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just be sure that your download is complete and not corrupt, as putting a corrupt version of XBMC on your box will kinda ***** it (ie: reboot when you load XBMC from your dash, and leave you stuck at your dash's boot picture.. well at least that's what happened to me with Avalaunch). Had to use a boot disk to get back in. Fun.
Appart from that, XBMC 2.0 is awesome news. - hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just modded my Xbox tonight for the first time. Lucky me this came out too! Awesome!
- chall5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whats a good format to rip my DVDs to for watching on my modded Xbox ?
