'Brain breathalysers' may scan astronauts for stress
space.newscientist.com — With jam-packed schedules and a video feed to Earth, astronauts enjoy precious little privacy as it is. Soon, doctors might peek into an astronaut's last bastion of solitude, thanks to a portable brain scanner that could one day go into orbit.Mission control could use the device to remotely monitor astronauts for signs of brain injury, [...]

- shutaro, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2There's where the explosive collar and remote kill-switch comes in... *POOF!*

- smitas, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Well, stress can be scanned. Then what?
- Fergy, on 07/03/2008, -1/+10Burried for using the term 'Brain breathalysers' when it has NOTHING to do with breathalysers
- shutaro, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Yeah, besides how would a brain breathe? It doesn't have a mouth! Silly idea, just silly.
- SirPopper, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Maybe they grab it from the nose?!
Check the picture exactly, they can grab it with very sensitive sensors from the conk [lol]
- 801NvizioN, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Oh ***** we sent a drunk to space!
- shithitinthefan, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Dave, I wouldn't do that if I were you.
Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over. - pookkake, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1They should use this for politicians. McStain would get disqualified with a quickness.
- ummagummas08, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I have a feeling the results of these brainalysers will just be common sense.
Imagine you are in the cockpit of an expensive ass space shuttle, with the full knowledge that you could just die at any second between the time you take-off and re-enter orbit.
I'd think that's pretty stressful, and I don't even need a brain breathalyser - bloggerjul, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1... MGS Nanomachines...
- Ryan0617, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1What a stupid idea. Clearly this is something thats not proven, its just a device looking for an application. Buried.
- justrich, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0if they are worried about stress they should just give the astronauts some pot. i can guarantee its cheaper than a brain scanner.
