- BrianC, on 07/22/2008, -8/+20There is no such thing as the "dark side" of the moon; all parts off the moon receive sunlight. There is, however, a back side of the moon, which is the face not pointing at the earth.
- cdigioia, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Not sure why a few have buried you, it's a common misconception about the "dark side".
- MadOtaku, on 07/23/2008, -4/+2It's dark to the extent it never gets earthlight (or earthshine, as you astronomers call it).
- oneoverzero, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6It gets sunlight instead, which is much brighter.
- MadOtaku, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I never claimed otherwise, oneoverzero. I know it gets sunlight and that that is far brighter than earthlight. I'm simply trying to come up with a reasonable interpretation of the term 'dark side of the moon' when all sides get light. The only such interpretation I can think of it the one I forwarded.
- spyd3rweb, on 07/23/2008, -1/+22There is no dark side of the moon really... matter of fact its all dark.
- oneoverzero, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Yeah, but the massive amounts of sunlight it gets makes up for the fact that it's only about 10% reflective (so it's about as dark as slate)
- jeremec, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1If you can hear somebody whispering, you are dying....
- Abomonog, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3"There is no dark side of the moon really... matter of fact its all dark."

"The latest images show the moon and Earth in greater detail than previous ones taken by orbiting spacecraft..."

- DownIsTheNewUp, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6Bummer. I was hoping this would be a quality video recording of Roger Waters performing DSOTM at Coachella.
- cheezintern, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3I saw him performing it at darian lake and it was amazing.

"The spacecraft, Deep Impact, took shots at 15-minute intervals, which were combined to make the sequence shown below. "
Did I see the right video? I saw a grainy postage stamp-sized slideshow circa IE3. Thought maybe I had popped my 1995 Groilers Encyclopedia on CD into the 2x CD-ROM drive. - jshooter1377, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Is it just me or did the back side of the moon have a hint of red/orange to it?
- sockpuppets, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1Where do you think skittles come from?
- jshooter1377, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1zomg!

- buddypriefert, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Thanks for the dumb little globe icon at the lower left to remind me that I'm looking at the earth.
- guitarplayer673, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Wow, what an eerie video to watch. Sure it's blurry, but think about what you're seeing here.
- SuperNinja2008, on 07/23/2008, -3/+0It looks fake, because -- according the Sun's position or the very bright Half Earth -- we should see a Half Moon.
- Kflo, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Why get my hopes so high for juicy lost Floyd footage?
- webbsurfer808, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2waste. of. my. time.

- loopyloopy, on 07/23/2008, -5/+2if you came here thinking this was a trailer for the latest Pink Floyd DVD, you're a loser and you're old (even compared to me)
- asus2000, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Ah ok, I think Justin Timberlake is on with Britney, run away child..
- asus2000, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3One of man's greatest accomplishments... If you think of the cumulative science that needed to make that video happen, it's quite amazing.
- Halsfield, on 07/23/2008, -2/+0this really didnt establish any new findings, show us anything new, or teach me anything. buried for really terrible image of brown blob floating past earth-like blob.
