Stars and a Stripe in Celestial Fireworks
nasa.gov — A delicate ribbon of gas floats eerily in our galaxy. A contrail from an alien spaceship? A jet from a black-hole? Actually this image, taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, is a very thin section of a supernova remnant caused by a stellar explosion that occurred more than 1,000 years ago.

- andruslinda, on 07/03/2008, -18/+5Apiece of God's work, the earth below and the heavens above. No matter where , who you are, God's work is everywhere in everyone's sight!
- ConfusedCartman, on 07/04/2008, -4/+15I believe in The Flying Spaghetti Monster, but it's all the same.
- groo68, on 07/04/2008, -1/+6That ribbon is the stain left over when the great chefs threw the first of the fsm to the heavens and said "It is done!".
- desertDenizen, on 07/04/2008, -1/+4Looks to me like elementary physics is everywhere, no matter where, nor who you are. Now, if this supernova remnant spelled out "God was here" in a celestial cursive ribbon, presumably in King James English (or Aramaic if you're really open-minded), then we could have a discussion. Funny how that never seems to happen though.
- jasonlfunk, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Those who have ears, let them hear.
- desertDenizen, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1@jasonlfunk: By that logic, if I see god in the static on my late-night television, then I'm not crazy... it's god. What then of crazy people? Maybe they are all correct and their delusions are not delusions; we're just unable to comprehend what they know. Are you suggesting there are no such things as delusions if they involve perceiving religious entities? Think first... be careful with your answer (it's a trap)...
- one7, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Wow. Simply stating belief in God gets one buried?
Nice tolerance, Digg nation. Be proud.- desertDenizen, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1If most theists who post here had more modern notions of theism, such as in the cosmological sense, then there would probably be a greater measure of tolerance and some quality exchange of ideas. But alas, most of them are not terribly informed people regurgitating parroting dogma with zero thought or insight. They rarely add value and set themselves up as cannon fodder for their noise.
Your post was good though, IMO. Dugg up. People should think about the meta.

- Birdie1111, on 07/04/2008, -6/+3God is in his Heaven, and yes, this is all of his beautiful work.
America is not evil, America is the Best country in the world. Why else is everyone trying to get here.?
Happy Fourth of July!!!!. God Bless America.!!!!!
Wake up Americans and protect what our forefathers fought for. Do not let
the evil people win out and take away your freedom.
I know my father and his four brothers all fought in WWII and helped to keep this country free.
Keep out the liberal facists.- desertDenizen, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Everyone is not trying to get here. You clearly have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Try spending some time overseas, then your opinions on the subject might count for something.

To readers other than Birdie1111, seriously, why has the average comment on Digg gotten so much less intelligent over the past year or two? Is it a function of attracting a larger, more mainstream audience? Does anybody know of a forum that's currently a few notches higher in its discourse? Thanks in advance.
