10 New Ways to Make Money Online
webworkerdaily.com — So you want to ditch your corporate cubicle and join the ranks of web workers? But you have a mortgage, maybe a dependent or two, and a taste for Venti Mochas from Starbucks? You can make money in the new economy, though it might not be as easy or cushy as keeping your old economy job.

- gwendal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Between the free collaborative movement like wikipedia, blogging or p2p and the traditional company remunerative jobs, there is a not-so-well-understood world, which is partially described here. Skills seem to be actually the best way to make money : skills for blogging, skills for photography, skills for organizing... If education is still the best way to acquire skills, and if we consider that people from the "old world" (including Europa and North America) are far more educated than others, then it is possible to be optimistic about the "old world" !
- daxsymbiont, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"write for pay" is whoring when it gets to politics and affecting people's lives under a boss that dictates the propaganda of the day.
- animalmuther76, on 07/30/2008, -2/+25You mean an education like understanding the difference between Europa a small moon orbiting Jupiter or Europe an unimportant long forgotten continent

- stanleypane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow... It's hard to believe this site got so many Digg's and is barely readable. Perhaps it's because I'm at work and have an older CRT, but... The text is a shade or two lighter than the background?
I wouldn't head advice from anyone ignorant enough to display it in such a manner. - KirbyKhan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stanley: I had the same problem as well. Try and refresh, it cleared everything up for me.

- xtoph, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24Digg him down, and block him if you like, but why is it always somebody's first instinct to post a phone number and ask the community to attack a person in their real life?
- shark615, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Because they are losers and if they want to put themselves out there by posting crap then they open themselves up for this sort of attack and they only have themselves to blame.
- sv650touring, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7James,
Your cheesedick marketing technique is not really worth your time here. You snatched up a pretty good domain name for a song, and you put it in EVERY digg comment you make. As far as I can tell, you get totally buried every time - save for the one digg article about snatching up domain names. You got +1.
You, sir, are becomming a common spammer. It's not too late to turn back. - flink405, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Friend once put his link in a digg comment as a reference relevant to a dugg article.
Number of diggers that went to it? Under 50.
Waste of time to put link in a digg comment - no one goes to it. - kanopener, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Just trying to promote my site. I didn't think it was spam if it was relevant to the article. I got more visits than ever posting my comment on this article. Hey my website is not everyones cup of tea, but I have got a huge positive response from it, and the word is getting around. Those people who tried to spam my personal email address, and posted my phone number up, you must have to much time on your hands get a life. Good, bad any publicity is publicity... Which improves my search engine rankings.
- danswayuk, on 10/12/2007, -13/+110. Become a virtual gold farmer
Virtual Life sell property and more for Money...technology has changed the world more than people know when you can make more money in a Virtual Life than the real one...I bet this happens.- diggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Tried it. Now, I'm virtually broke.
- FoxifiedNutjob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16What a crock! Everyone of these "ways of making money online" is a crock of *****. I can make more money working at McDonald's than these online economical "solutions".
Heres a better way of making money "while online". Get a mall kiosk or late night security job and surf the internet to educate yourself about the REAL world economy while getting paid by the hour to do so.
I don't advise anyone quiting their day job for any one of these suggested "ways of making money online".
How the hell did this crap make it on Digg?! - skytimelapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11: Think of a niche that hasn't been totally saturated with competitors! It requires luck firstly, but dedication not-so-distantly second.
- tidejwe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Most of those have risks, and while they may "Pay the bills" you have a pretty slim chance of making as much money as you would getting a "Normal job". Some people are successful with this, most aren't. At least you get to work at home a lot though.
If you REALLY like risks, you could always do those "H.Y.I.P."s (High yeild investment plans) like when 12 daily pro was popular. LOL I knew a guy who was making about three thousand dollars a month doing that. It still baffles me how they aren't completely illegal. They're essentially a ponzi scheme where someone loses out....- TechCF, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, FBI investigates and has frozen all funds and the people running it has been arrested
- DriverDan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11They ARE Ponzi schemes and are illegal. Most of them are so small and low key that they close down long before any law enforcement gets wind of them. All of the big ones are run by one Russian organized crime syndicate. They DDoS attack sites run by competitors. Almost all of them shut down before paying out a positive balance so you end up losing your money. Don't waste your time, they're all scams.
- Lewie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I actually made a decent profit from one due to a decimal error. It was pretty sweet! I was surprised how many people threw thousands (sometimes $20K!!) into this HYIP that already had signs of trouble. A fool and his money are soon parted.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go find a few thousand fools... - etjazz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go find a few thousand fools..

- h00paj00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12#1. The problem with things like "RentACoder" is that you're competing against people who will code for less than you would make working at Starbucks.
#6. "Life Coaching" is the biggest scam to come about in recent years. It's like paying a friend to give you bad or incomplete advice... Basically it's un-licensed psychiatry.
#10. See #1. If it takes you 8 hours of gaming to make $50 in real currency, you might as well have a real job and get out of the house. - katkac, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Trade forex news releases http://www.digg.com/business_finance/Need_Money_Fast_Try_these_cash_making_Ideas/blog

RentACoder as a way to make money online? what a lame article.
My suggestion? Write a program, signup with TrialPay, and make some money. There is also Nextmark, where you can sell datacards for mailing lists at $40 per thousand. - overbored454, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Nobody listed online prostitution.

- rgtripp, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1what most people don't know is that more than $30M worth of "information products," or what we call UGC, is selling every MONTH on eBay right now. there's even a category for this kind of stuff. at first glance it looks like lots of cheap junk, and a lot of it is. but go to eBay, search on "how to" and then create a filter (left column, page down a couple of times) for "completed items. you'll find 700+ pages (50 listings per page) of listings that have completed in the last TWO WEEKS. any price that's green and bold has sold. prices range from $3 to $300 (and higher), and some users in this community have already made more than $1M selling their own products on eBay (here's one: www.skipmcgrath.com). per some eBay insiders, this new category of information products (most of which are delivered digitally) is now one of the fastest growing eBay categories.
here are several examples of things that have sold in the last few MINUTES, to give you an example:

right now the model is clunky and hard to operate. up until recently you could only sell PDFs and eBooks and you pretty much had to email them to people who bought. yepic (www.yepic.com) is a new platform that has been designed specifically for overcoming the shop/buy/use problems both buyers and sellers currently experience with information products on eBay. the question is, when will the web 2.0 world wake up to the fact that there are millions of hungry info-consumers that are tired of the dead-ends, distractions, and low-quality content they find via search and are willing to pay--right now!--for what other people know? - NomadSoul, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0link is http://buildafreebiesite.com

check out their "cash 4 referral" trades in the forum...when I need a little extra money it's what I do. - lewhich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Developers STAY AWAY FROM elance.com (It's BS)
- thanksgiving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1worthless article
- sbull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am getting frustrated with all these constant "Make money online" lists which regurgitate the same old trash
- esourcemag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think its worthless... it is spam, but its not worthless. Then again, wordpress just introduced a way to have people digg your stories... so I think Digg is about to have a big debate on what is spam and what is a good story that you wrote that is submitted by you.
- Shneebly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I've been experimenting around with some of these "take surveys for money" websites, and some of them are actually ok. I know cashlagoon.com pays in paypal, and i've gotten about 30 bucks from them so far, just doing free stupid surveys with an email address I dont use (you get hundreds of spam emails a day). But if you really just want a few extra bucks, and have some free time, it doesn't hurt to sign up with them. One of the best ones in my opinion is Treasuretrooper, they pay by month when your account goes over 20 bucks, and you get checks in the mail. It's legit, and hey, it gives me some extra cash to buy my coffees with, so I'm trying to spread the word! http://www.treasuretrooper.com/224519
- dancrew32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hate treasure trooper spammers above all other spammers.
- Shneebly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wasn't spamming. It's an article about how to make money online, and I saw nobody had mentioned it, so i did. It's not like I was trying to shove anything down your throat. It's not a scam anyway. It's a completely legit WAY TO EARN MONEY ONLINE. *points to title of article*
Learn the difference between what's spam and what isn't before you go and digg me down
- coviecarbine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1about 80% of the dugg down commenters deserve to be banned
- skytimelapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"2. Sell photos on stock photography sites."
Ahem... unless you are a really (really) awesome still photographer, good luck making any real money at the only sites that will pay royalties to anyone for their digicam images. istockphoto charges the client like a dollar per image and your take is a portion of that. So... good luck with that. - Asmundur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I look forward to reading this article when the background has been changed to white.
- Optic7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No kidding! The darn thing is illegible in Firefox 1.5. Dark grey background with very slightly lighter grey text. :-(
- aamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WTF is up with the font color. This site is barely readable.
- zai-asal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Blah, what a ***** designed site, light text-dark background(or the alternate). Not two similar colors for both, what an ass clown.
- esourcemag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I see allot of complaints about this story... so why does it have 1700+ diggs? maybe because some of it is true. Blog network, life coach, selling stock photos, and providing service for open source software are great ways to get going if you know what your doing and your willing to put allot of work into it.
If this came from TechCrunch, would it have so many bad remarks? Would you believe that the original author of TechCrunch is doing the blog network and providing service for software thing? Would you believe that a few sites that get dugg here on Digg do 2 or more on that list most people here or putting down?
Haterzzz... - moneythatworks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its definitely hard to find ways online to make real money. If you're on myspace or have a profile on another site like that, you might want to try http://www.yournextfortune.com . You can get paid $1 each time you forward the site and someone signs up. Its an easy way to make a few extra bucks... and if you work at it, you could make more than that. Also, when you sign up, they give you tons of hints and tips of how to make actual money using other simple methods online. Worth a shot.
- jordanmclement, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0As usual, It boils down to this - "Know what you are doing, and work extremely hard at it and you will make a good living"... What an amazing insight!
I know from experience that your photos need to be extremely good to get accepted at stock photo sites - and when they are you make very little money off each one, so you need to have about 1000 amazingly good photos to make a decent living from that side of things (and have them submitted to at least 4 stock photo sites - total time involved - thousands of hours...)...
Having said that - I am starting to make *some* money online from my photos mainly through Google Adsense. See irishviews.com - jordanmclement, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0As usual, It boils down to this - "Know what you are doing, and work extremely hard at it and you will make a good living"... http://www.anarsist.org/ - raymondsmith, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0IT IS MPOSSBILE TO MAKE MONEY FROM ADS ON BLOG TRAFFIC.. So, write up a document in word, and post it to a contents marketplace like www.gazhoo.com. Gazhoo is a user-generated content marketplace…so, what you can do is upload the document for $1 and sell potentially thousands of copies…much better than advertising fees. The price is cheap and, thus, attractive to users.
