"The Lab" is being recorded in HD, in hopes that will make it more attractive for other TV networks outside of Canada to pick it up (the idea being that people will be looking for quality HD content as we transition from analog to digital broadcasting).
Patrick Norton stated that he would be happy to show up on the set of the new show, as long as Leo was willing to accept his standing invitation to appear on an episode of dl.tv, so it might be nice to see some crossover there as well.- Fox318, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That would be awesome. I just don't watch the channel because I get ticked off easily. G4 does a lot of things that are pretty annoying. Anyway, as stated, this "The Lab" thing probably will not air here in the US.

That's why Leo cut his hours on The Screen Savers down to a few side segments, and went back to hosting Call for Help full time (iirc, CFH was originally Leo's project, and he retained some of the rights to the show as part of his contract with TechTV).

My only beef with X-Play is that TechTV Canada airs the show literally 10 or 14 times per day so the same old reruns get old really really fast.

When Comcast handed the assets of the network over to G4, everyone (that G4 wanted for the continuing shows) was offered a new salary deal as long as they were willing to move to L.A. when the TechTV studios were closed down. Many people took the offers because it still seemed like a good job for many of the up and coming staff, but for people like Leo and a few others, the offers were lower than the pay cuts they had already agreed to in order to keep TechTV afloat for the year prior to the selloff. Leo declined the offer, and with no Leo, there was no CFH.
It has also been obvious that CFH was too far outside the male teen demographic of "Games, Gear, Gadgets & Gigabytes" that the G4 executives seemed to think was their primary audience.
Ziff-Davis had been out of the picture for a couple of years at that point, having sold off their stake in the network to Paul Allen.

Or Kevin Rose on Screen Savers showing his How-to Mod an XBox series. Man I fell asleep so many times when Leo would explain something but my TV was still on so they got my rating. Oh yeah Anime Unleashed was great. Hmm come to think of it FutureWeapons on Discovery and Future Fighting Machines on TechTV are very similar, other than the British accent. The only good show I look forward to these days on G4 is Attack of the Show. I miss the old TechTV crew.
