- bluelightnin90, on 06/15/2008, -13/+5I think its because nobody understands how the heck to interpret the pictures. Personally I think you have to analyze the ***** somehow and then calculate the meaning. Just a guess.
- bluelightnin90, on 06/15/2008, -3/+2This was a response to somebody that has removed their comment, but they said "it's quiet in here, I can hear echos" because nobody was commenting. In case you were wondering what I was talking about.
- Diderotten, on 06/15/2008, -0/+10That's the default comment that erases when somebody makes the first comment. It's not even formatted to look like a regular comment.
- pault107, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6Oh man, that's too funny.

- D14BL0, on 06/15/2008, -11/+8Open source is trippy.
- jarofclay, on 06/15/2008, -7/+11Anything increasing the visibility of the developers who work so hard on free software for people is great.
- NexusV2, on 06/15/2008, -3/+0How big do you think it would be if you included ALL of the developers in Open Source, as in everyone who has contributed any amount of code.....now THAT would be amazing.
- iziizi, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1it would be a mess because they wouldnt correlate .

- rchowe, on 06/15/2008, -10/+2Personally, I want to see a graph like this done for Wine.
- TedTschopp, on 06/15/2008, -2/+16The Apache project started with a bunch of documentation before they started coding. I also like how they evolved into a group of coders and documenters with several doing both.
I would love to do this work on some of the rather large projects I have worked on that were screw ups to see if there is anything that can be learned from them. This tool has the beginnings of a very good enterprise project quality tool.- caltheos, on 06/15/2008, -2/+5Agreed, It is an unanswered question on how management can accurately rate the performance and time put in by programmers, especially when the manager is not as proficient in the language, or in programming in general. A little work could turn this into a great code review tool.
- TedTschopp, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2I don't understand why people are digging you down. Your observations are correct, and I agree. This makes for a very good code review tool.
- equinoxChild, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2I agree, you make a good point. However, if put to managers who are not proficient in the language, they may misinterpret the information. For example, a programmer who is making a lot of small changes all over the place may show up differently to one who spends a lot of time getting a particularly difficult segment running.
Basically what I'm saying is, it has potential, but the interpretation and analysis of the information provided by these needs to be done carefully.

- magawake, on 06/15/2008, -11/+0dugg for having postgresql
- magawake, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1ok, dugg for not having mysql
- ucdesemuscles, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1What's wrong with mysql?
- mossblaser, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Its mainstream.
[Though technically Postgre has a more standards complient SQL implimentation but otherwise lacks some features]
- mossblaser, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Its mainstream.
- ucdesemuscles, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1What's wrong with mysql?
- magawake, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1ok, dugg for not having mysql
- finaldarkone, on 06/15/2008, -6/+8I'd like to see the histogram for emacs. I'd like to see visually see when Stallman went off the deep end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sJUDx7iEJw
- finaldarkone, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5Obviously you people are vim fans.
- Fragarach87, on 06/15/2008, -4/+3That was pritty cool, very cool different way to display version history
- arjie, on 06/15/2008, -0/+6Wow, I actually found the Eclipse video beautiful. It was really cool.
- finaldarkone, on 06/15/2008, -1/+3There is nothing beautiful about Eclipse.
- TedTschopp, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1That close and save dialogue box is wonderful as well as beautiful.
- finaldarkone, on 06/15/2008, -1/+3There is nothing beautiful about Eclipse.
- torressr3, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3i want to see the same thing for GNU, it would be the *****.....
- pathogenal, on 06/15/2008, -3/+1Wow it would be nice if they could polish OSS projects like this, then maybe I'd give up may desktop.
- kalleanka, on 06/15/2008, -3/+1Coolness: +1
Usefulness of these videos: -1- razzaz, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4I disagree with the usefulness part. Visuals are very helpful in understanding things like this that are incomprehensible. The term open source does not even come close to the true meaning of it and this gives you some idea of what is involved. All those dots are people who spend hours of time for free to make something for all of us to use for free.
- mathcreative, on 06/16/2008, -0/+0It shows how a OS community grows.
- laofmoonster, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4IT'S ALIVE!
- ladyattis, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2It just goes to show that emergence is a property of all systems whether they are made of atoms or people.
- mathcreative, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Agree, It was funny that those atoms that move around so randomly, yet we move the same way but we carry meaning with our actions. Is their meaning in the action of atoms that we do not know about?
- zcreem, on 06/15/2008, -3/+1Any one else having problems full screening this in FF3 Vimeo is not playing for me with the latest RC.
IE works fine, well fine for IE.- zcreem, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1I'll take that as a no then.
- Soulbow2, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1I'm not sure why someone would make that, but it looked cool.
- climatewarrior, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2"I've received some requests to make the application open source so that people can use it on their own software projects. I think that's a great idea. Unfortunately the ad hoc code needs lots of cleaning and I will be busy with other things in the next few months. If I have time I will look into it."
Make it open source! If you really want to help these projects and have a better program make it open source now.- AF-Geek, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1It sounds like he's up for the idea, but lacks the time to clean the code up so others can understand and contribute to it. Hopefully he'll be able to get it to a reasonable level some time soon; I have some projects I'd like to visualize with this application!
- PRlME, on 06/15/2008, -5/+1Oh come on, the guys that write the visual plugins for winAmp was doing this back in 2003. Yes with dynamic text.
- minorgods, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1I'd like to see this run on the IE development cycle (it'd be funny to cue in when another browser takes market share too) Probably would not make for a very exciting video tho. it would look more like the air traffic control panel for an underwater airport.
- equinoxChild, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1IE has a development cycle?
I thought they just got 100 monkeys, gave them vodka and attempted to get to the ballmer point?
- equinoxChild, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1IE has a development cycle?
- tapo, on 06/15/2008, -0/+14I love how the Apache project has an active contributor named 'Rodent of Unusual Size'. Only in the open source world...
- 2Bnor2B, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1In the Eclipse video, it was interesting to watch all the files in the swarm momentarily flash light blue as the developers suddenly updated their documentation during each RC.
- fudged71, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1this should be categorized under "Software" not "tech industry news"
this is not news - tian2992, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Ben Fry Rules
Processing FTW! - minorgods, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1which is about a .138 BAC i believe.. more like .16 in my experience tho
- buywowgoldz, on 07/30/2008, -0/+0Open source, hell yeah!
http://northcarolinarealestateblogger.com/ - mydave, on 08/12/2008, -0/+0nice, thank you.
