Who Dugg It?

DiggEnforcer, on 10/12/2007, -35/+3In an effort to stop HD-DVD posts from the Digg community from Digg bots and multiple accounts. Digg will become a paid subscription site where only those who pay will be allowed to visit. This will stop people from creating accounts, or the destroying of the site by one string of code. Those who do not comply with Digg’s rules and / or misuse their accounts will be banned with no refund. I hope you are happy Digg community, as many normal Diggers will be when this comes into action.

They say what they need to to stay out of jail (a bit cowardly, but understandable), but that doesn't mean they aren't happy to have their site temporarily overrun by people they may privately sympathize with.

Chakat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Slashdot had a similar DMCA takedown notice filed about 5 years ago. However, there was no user revolt, no mass defacements, just nice and orderly conversation. Other sites have had similar issues, with the same telling difference. Unlike Digg, they actually explained a) the issue, but b) where to find mirrors of the comment, and c) apologized for having to remove the post. I think the Digg staff need to realize that; the anger is more about their lack of responsiveness than their legally-mandated actions.
