DIGG: Digg launches Digg the Candidates
blog.digg.com — An interesting way to follow the US elections!
- 3235 diggs
- digg it
- Universal, on 11/21/2007, -97/+8What? I just submitted this. Why does this always happen :-(
http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_the_Candidates- dburka, on 11/21/2007, -8/+65They get submitted within microseconds of each other and only one can be the match. Seriously, why complain? What's the big deal? The story is getting attention.
- gamebittk, on 11/21/2007, -1/+39Microseconds? That's pretty fast.
- HonoredMule, on 11/21/2007, -1/+17I hate to break it to you, but 1812 and 2026 are only microseconds apart...just lots of them.
- laaabaseball, on 11/21/2007, -58/+7well its lucky it was my submission I guess. All I want to say is RON PAUL for PRESIDENT!
- whatsupimphil, on 11/21/2007, -2/+11You should have submitted this in the Ron Paul section.
- greatkingrat85, on 11/21/2007, -3/+6Does that mean I can bury Ron Paul now for spamming?
- PeppermintPig, on 11/21/2007, -2/+1Does Ron Paul even have an account on digg?
- btgoss, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3I DEMAND NANOSECONDS!!!!! man... this is proof Digg has lost it...
- gamebittk, on 11/21/2007, -1/+39Microseconds? That's pretty fast.
- Audacitor, on 11/21/2007, -8/+24Because you put it in the tech news section and not the 2008 elections section?
- Universal, on 11/21/2007, -2/+23This one is in the Tech News section too.
- Audacitor, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2Ya, what the hell is up with you people anyway?
- Universal, on 11/21/2007, -2/+23This one is in the Tech News section too.
- edicius, on 11/21/2007, -21/+9Because you touch yourself at night.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -6/+2face it, you got scooped.
- groo68, on 11/21/2007, -2/+7Also this one has Digg three times in the title, whereas you have it once.
- skunkman62, on 11/21/2007, -0/+5What? I just about to say that. Why does this always happen :-(
- edicius, on 11/21/2007, -11/+3I guess no one liked my Family Guy reference.
- MalDON, on 11/21/2007, -4/+5No one likes you.
- andburn1, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4And apparently, not the reply button either.
- dburka, on 11/21/2007, -8/+65They get submitted within microseconds of each other and only one can be the match. Seriously, why complain? What's the big deal? The story is getting attention.
- gamebittk, on 11/21/2007, -6/+64Nice. But will we *really* get to interact with the actual candidates, or will it be just reps. At least it'll help me keep track of these elections, especially since I'm running a political news site.
- lukas88, on 11/21/2007, -3/+89A few digg favorites (Ron Paul, Obama) could really cash in on this if they spent a few minutes a week digging and commenting. It really doesn't take much to make a digger loyal.
More than likely it will be a rep though.- notque, on 11/21/2007, -3/+10If Dennis and Elizabeth were both on here commenting, they could really increase their support.
- Humptydank, on 11/21/2007, -10/+2Who and Elizabeth?
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -3/+10If Dennis and Elizabeth were both on here commenting, they could really increase their support.
- damnitdaniel, on 11/21/2007, -0/+22I would like to see what the candidates *really* digg. All of the diggs are articles about themselves.
...that might give us a little more insight as to who we're really voting for.- lukas88, on 11/21/2007, -1/+13You are absolutely right. Hopefully they have advisors on staff that are familiar enough with digg to let them know how counterproductive that will be.
- kingkilr, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3One of the problems is we might get a skewed view, for example I have dugg a number of stories even though I completely disagreed with them because I thought they were important, so much of digg is about how you use it.
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -10/+4Are you really sure you want me asking them questions?!
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -2/+10Noam Chomsky on Elections run by the public relations industry -
The elections are run by the same guys who sell toothpaste. They show you an image of a sports hero, or a sexy model, or a car going up a sheer cliff or something, which has nothing to do with the commodity, but it's intended to delude you into picking this one rather than another one. Same when they run elections. But they're assigned that task in order to marginalize the public, and furthermore, people are pretty well aware of it.
For many years, election campaigns here have been run by the public relations industry and each time it's with increasing sophistication. Quite naturally, the industry uses the same technique to sell candidates that it uses to sell toothpaste or lifestyle drugs. The point is to undermine markets by projecting imagery to delude and suppressing informationand similarly, to undermine democracy by the same method.
- lukas88, on 11/21/2007, -3/+89A few digg favorites (Ron Paul, Obama) could really cash in on this if they spent a few minutes a week digging and commenting. It really doesn't take much to make a digger loyal.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -31/+25i think we all know which candidate is going to have the most friends...
go figure... rudy's has the word "terrorist" in his headline. didn't see that one coming.
RP '08 & '12 too- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -35/+13Yup..the candidate who has no chance of winning so his small group of followers feel the next to spam Sigg.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -9/+4x isn't very close to e on the keyboard. wait a minute... is this stephanopolous?
- dracostimpy, on 11/21/2007, -2/+6If you imply that Ron Paul will have the most, then that is just NOT true, metapop. Herkimer, dshpls and Hortnon are furiously dissecting the Ron Paul friends list, and I'm sure they'll have proof within hours that the list is 95% ghost accounts. I anxiously await their analysis (but I won't hold my breath).
- Akronos, on 11/21/2007, -4/+2You're joking right?
- Bagos1, on 11/21/2007, -3/+2I hope so. RP will own cyberspace.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3ha... i think they do everything furiously. i'm sure they'll offer up the best unbiased results, whoever picked them for the job certainly knew what they were doing. as i'm typing this, your comment is 9 hours ago... results?
at this point:
RP- 6518
BO- 3547- teichenauer, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1While I have my favorite candidate, I do wish that the Digg folks could acknowledge all those people who have no intention of voting for a Republican or Democrat and include an option for None of the Above. That would be leading edge of them. As it is they aren't going to win many points over http://elections.newsvine.com/ for overall coolness.
- Akronos, on 11/21/2007, -4/+2You're joking right?
- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -35/+13Yup..the candidate who has no chance of winning so his small group of followers feel the next to spam Sigg.
- lane.montgomery, on 11/21/2007, -8/+101While it's nice to see candidates embracing the types of media I actually use to get news, it seems to me that these will mostly be just platforms for them to point to their various youtube videos and fund raising announcements. I smell the birth of another digg Ron Paul story, about him having the most friends on digg.
- stopbrorape, on 11/21/2007, -7/+17the drop off of friends from ron paul to mike huckabee is enormous.
- Remmy, on 11/21/2007, -2/+20It's amazing what Chuck Norris can do for your campaign, isn't it?
- lane.montgomery, on 11/21/2007, -2/+19*sigh*
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Ron_Paul_breaks_ ... - acu8509, on 11/21/2007, -2/+24"...Looking for Hillary Clinton(?)..."
nope- obliviousfool, on 11/21/2007, -0/+12She has been alerted to this thing called digg and is now having her people look into ways to make it bend to her will. Stay tuned, your oppression will begin shortly.
- Humptydank, on 11/21/2007, -0/+7It will be as after a pack of wild dogs have brought down a gazelle -- Obama, Huckabee, Giuliani, and Thopmson will all have their heads down feeding on their new-found Digg fame. Hillary will approach slowly like a lioness, seeming without a care, and swat them away like so many ping pong balls with her giant paw.
She will then drag Digg into the bush just to prove it is hers, survey her territory, and then gorge herself on our innocence.
- stopbrorape, on 11/21/2007, -7/+17the drop off of friends from ron paul to mike huckabee is enormous.
- Okari, on 11/21/2007, -34/+436Give me a ***** break. Quit adding crap and fix the damn comments and add the one month late pic section.
- grendelboogie, on 11/21/2007, -22/+28stay tuned
- Okari, on 11/21/2007, -5/+95I've been hearing that for the past year. Need to quit working on pointless crap like shouts and actually work on real problems.
- dracostimpy, on 11/21/2007, -2/+2You would SOOO get tased if you tried to say that to him in person.
- Okari, on 11/21/2007, -5/+95I've been hearing that for the past year. Need to quit working on pointless crap like shouts and actually work on real problems.
- lane.montgomery, on 11/21/2007, -29/+9This message brought to you by the haters' ball. Hate! Hate! Hate! Hate!
- acu8509, on 11/21/2007, -4/+1i actually got that. looks like others didn't.
(Chappelle's show if you missed the reference)- lengau, on 11/21/2007, -0/+6I got the reference. I just thought it was stupid.
- acu8509, on 11/21/2007, -4/+1i actually got that. looks like others didn't.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -16/+4why would anyone want to see pics that are one month late?
/sarcasm - prezzy, on 11/21/2007, -15/+7jesus ***** christ atleast just fix the comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- PURPLEDRINK, on 11/21/2007, -9/+3incase u were wondering what this comment said, u had to click on it.
- pault107, on 11/21/2007, -4/+5No I didn't.

- Daemion43, on 11/21/2007, -3/+66Fix the ***** URL truncation BS. It breaks links all the time.
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&d ... - damnitdaniel, on 11/21/2007, -3/+7Personally, I would like to be able to check my Gmail contacts for friends.
Haven't gotten that to work yet... - surfing, on 11/21/2007, -4/+5Maybe the realized that a pic section wasn't a good idea. Won't pics fall under one of the existing categories?
- iofthestorm, on 11/21/2007, -2/+2I think that's what they meant they were working on when they said stuff about taxonomy.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -2/+7dunno- they must be doing something right considering how much discussion this has sparked and how many diggs it has.
- h4ppydotcom, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5What's wrong with the comments?
It's different to how it used to be, but it works perfectly well. Perhaps what digg needs is for people to be able to set an option in their profile to (a) default view (click to view sub-comments) and (b) auto-expand all comments.
Oh, would you look at that? You already can.- Okari, on 11/21/2007, -1/+7It's broken for me. Almost all of the time, I can't get beyond the initial 50 comments, I click to go to the next 50 and the link disappears and leaves me with the first 50. I'm also having the problem of the replies not showing up and getting the pop up saying "Oh noes I broke your commentz."
- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Those cute lol diggers.
- stevedclarke, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2Your session has expired, please refresh the page before commenting.

- JordanM85, on 11/21/2007, -3/+8I agree, the comments are completely broken. Digg needs to put them back to the way they used to be.
- Gambit89, on 11/21/2007, -0/+5Also, recently, I noticed that the comments on most of the past articles are no longer showing up, or if they do, not all of them. For example, these are from the top 365 days in tech news:
http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Unveils_New_Fea ...
http://www.digg.com/apple/Safari_on_Windows_4
I filed a bug report, but I haven't had any response/feedback.- semtowill, on 11/21/2007, -1/+1Digg have growing pains? Maybe! Could be cutting space/ram requirements for the indexes i guess.
- Humptydank, on 11/21/2007, -1/+1I'd like a through-the-door ice dispenser and safe, yet effective, non-prescription male enhancement.
- grendelboogie, on 11/21/2007, -22/+28stay tuned
- MikeonTV, on 11/21/2007, -40/+209Why humiliate every candidate not named Ron Paul?
- onetimer, on 11/21/2007, -14/+51Good thing this translates to proportionally equivalent real life support, right?
- CondoleezzaRice, on 11/21/2007, -10/+36Yeah, we all know that there aren't humans behind those diggs.
- damnitdaniel, on 11/21/2007, -2/+26I'm pretty sure Condeleezza Rice isn't human.
- dmlTucson, on 11/21/2007, -10/+2Yeah! Only 4.3 million non humans. Mwahahahahaha
- dracostimpy, on 11/21/2007, -5/+6Apparently, Digg must have communicated this plan in advance to the RP campaign but not the rest, since it must have taken quite some time for the RP operatives to set up 4000+ ghost accts to add all those friends. When will the gaming end? Oh yeah, that's right... when Ron Paul is President!
- CaptA, on 11/21/2007, -1/+2Bad dog! BAD dog!!! Just sic the bad dog on the "gamers." Bite the gamers on the ass till they scream for mercy! They deserve every bite ... and then some. Get work'n dracostimpy...
- CondoleezzaRice, on 11/21/2007, -10/+36Yeah, we all know that there aren't humans behind those diggs.
- dacjames, on 11/21/2007, -14/+7Why, why, why, the obsession with ron paul! The man actually wants to build a wall across Mexico! He voted for it! He wants to ship every single illegal citizen out of the country... 20+million of them. The real world needs a bit of moderation, not ***** hillary, or obahma or Guilianni but certainly not ron paul.
- lasenorita, on 11/21/2007, -3/+7What's so extreme about enforcing existing laws? Foreign citizens who enter/stay in the United States illegally are breaking our laws. Our tax dollars are even being used to reward them for breaking the law (free healthcare, free education). 300+ million American citizens and the legal immigrants who worked hard to meet the necessary requirements to get visas are held legally responsible for their actions. Why should we give illegal aliens a free pass simply because of their large numbers?
Ron Paul recognizes that the current system is incoherent and unfair and that our immigration policies needs real reform. He welcomes foreign nationals (we are a nation of immigrants, after all!), but it's not fair or even realistic to provide and finance incentives for people who stay/cross the border illegally. - dracostimpy, on 11/21/2007, -1/+4Moderation is a good way to maintain the status quo. America needs BIG changes FAST, so long as those are the correct changes. I think Ron Paul, more than any other candidate, knows the changes that we require to restore our national pride and progress.

- MutatedNantuko, on 11/21/2007, -28/+191Are we going to have to hear more about Ron Paul now?
- truegodofwar, on 11/21/2007, -39/+46Yes please!
- VeganBob, on 11/21/2007, -9/+31I'm still hoping Kucinich gets more strength (nationally and on Digg).
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2it appears he is... at least on digg. at the moment, he's in 2nd for the dems (of course, hillary isn't in the running yet either)
- Dementual, on 01/27/2008, -16/+7If we're lucky, we'll be able to hear about Ron Paul for the next nine years!
- Daveecee, on 11/21/2007, -5/+1Too bad his overall (i.e. not on digg) support is abysmal at best!
- JJCDAD, on 11/21/2007, -13/+4Paul - Kucinich Unity08
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -5/+6Kucinich / Paul - Strength through peace!
- metapop, on 11/22/2007, -1/+2Paul / Kucinich - Instability through disagreement on everything but the war!

- metapop, on 11/22/2007, -0/+3Optimus Prime/Megatron 08
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -5/+6Kucinich / Paul - Strength through peace!
- DigDugDigger, on 11/21/2007, -3/+5You can hide the political section.
- hammerpants, on 11/21/2007, -1/+4That would be nice if Ron Paul submitters kept their submissions in "politics." Some do, but others don't, and it's annoying. (I'm pro-RP, btw)
- mrlayance2, on 11/21/2007, -38/+7I am not american, but what about Hilary Clinton?
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -3/+39they said she's a work in progress.
- Coven, on 11/21/2007, -3/+35that's an understatement
- damnitdaniel, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1lol...
Digg me down, I don't care. That ***** was funny.
- gamebittk, on 11/21/2007, -4/+2She's obviously too cool for Digg.
- whatsupimphil, on 11/21/2007, -6/+24There are no women on Digg.
- active1x0, on 11/21/2007, -2/+1I think it's more that no one on Digg likes Hillary Clinton, and as such she does not want to be embarrassed when her friend count is in the negatives.
- conceptkid, on 11/21/2007, -4/+2I'm American and I have no idea who Hillary Clinton is. I do know a fella named Ron Paul though :)
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -3/+39they said she's a work in progress.
- Revovisionary, on 11/21/2007, -13/+331hahahahaha.... No Hillary Clinton hahahahah
- FirstDigg, on 11/21/2007, -13/+2I wouldn't have added her myself, but I think digg should have waited to put the page up until everyone was ready. Oh well.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/21/2007, -1/+2That is to say if she actually wanted to partake in Digg the Candidates.
- dracostimpy, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1I doubt she'll get involved since she's already been selected as the Democratic candidate pretty much across the board by the media. She's banking on that being enough, and quite frankly she's probably right because there's a lot of old voters who get all their news from the TV. That crap won't fly for long tho, cuz those geezers aren't getting any younger.
The real race is in the Republican party, and that's only because they couldn't come up with one single pro-war candidate who doesn't have a closet full of skeletons and an uncanny knack for walking headfirst into a verbal beat-down by Ron Paul during the debates.
- bryceman111, on 11/21/2007, -6/+10Nelson Muntz is on digg?
- libertao, on 11/21/2007, -2/+18Not surprising considering how many anti-Hilary stories pop up here.
- brad3378, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3Yeah, but I was hoping to read more
- arcooke, on 11/21/2007, -5/+19Good.
- jerbaker, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1So you mean when the media excluded Ron Paul it's ok to scream bloody murder and submit eighteen billion articles to Digg about how ***** up the media is, but if it's Hillary being excluded it's a good thing? I thought Ron Paul supporters were supposed to be different than neocons.
- Juice7, on 11/21/2007, -5/+1Yes but there's still Giuliani with 63 friends and I'm thinking if I checked what stories his friends have Dugg most would be from the pictures section and I'm also thinking they've been rely on Fox to provide them with their news stories if you know what I mean.
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8It would make much more sense if he had 911 friends.
- KingGorilla, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5maybe if she was a girl
- pasta2000, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3Regardless of people's dislike for Hillary, this DIGG the Candidates is useless unless all the candidates are present.
- FirstDigg, on 11/21/2007, -13/+2I wouldn't have added her myself, but I think digg should have waited to put the page up until everyone was ready. Oh well.
- ma11man, on 11/21/2007, -11/+1Politics. Word.
- Me1000, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5Politics are important!
Dont you want to know who the next leader of the American Empire is? - dacjames, on 11/21/2007, -1/+0High?
- Me1000, on 11/21/2007, -2/+5Politics are important!
- MikeonTV, on 11/21/2007, -14/+50"Looking for Senator Hillary Clinton or your favorite candidate? This page is a work in progress."
Like she has a chance anyways!- enjoiskaterguy, on 11/21/2007, -14/+7She's dumb enough to win the nomination, but against Ron Paul, she will get CREAMED!!!
- onetimer, on 11/21/2007, -59/+196Ron paul will have more digg friends than votes at the first primary...
- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/21/2007, -32/+7Owned
- conceptkid, on 11/21/2007, -8/+5I repeat: this ARticle is not About Ron Paul. It does not even mention Ron Paul in the blog.
Seriously GTFO you spamming kooko virgin who has no friends. Do not blame Ron Paul that you cannot get laid.- onetimer, on 11/21/2007, -1/+3Are you done throwing a tantrum yet?
- conceptkid, on 11/21/2007, -9/+2Wow buddy, who mentioned Ron Paul? This article is about Digg the candidates, not Ron Paul. You are a kook. YOu probably arent even old enough to vote but yet you have this hatred for Ron Paul. Its sad, you need psychiatric help.
Seriously, if Ron Paul has no support, why the ***** are you so god damn emo about people supporting him? Are you mad that nobody is excited about your pile of ***** candidate?- ChromaVita, on 11/21/2007, -0/+6Hate to break it to you but conceptkid beat you to that post.... OH WAIT!
- masterofsw, on 11/21/2007, -2/+1First Primary isn't a real primary anyway. Iowa has a Caucus, and after living through it, it deserves NO credit as to the outcome in Iowa. Results are meaningless, only the big candidates get any recongnition.
- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -6/+104Oh boy! I can't IMAGINE how this could go wrong...
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -2/+9LET ME AT THEM. They must comment in threads as well. No just digging, I want them commenting.
- thirdoffive, on 11/21/2007, -0/+6So far Alan Keyes seems to be the only one actually commenting.
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -2/+9LET ME AT THEM. They must comment in threads as well. No just digging, I want them commenting.
- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/21/2007, -40/+72In before Ron Paul spam.
- badjoke, on 11/21/2007, -14/+5Your icon is Ron Paul. You're saying you haven't contributed any spam?
- xerigen, on 11/21/2007, -3/+19If you read his comments, you will realize that he is very anti ron paul.
- enjoiskaterguy, on 11/21/2007, -6/+1Peo peace! Pro Paul! Pro constitution!
- xerigen, on 11/21/2007, -3/+19If you read his comments, you will realize that he is very anti ron paul.
- Urusai, on 11/21/2007, -27/+13YOU CAN'T STOP THE PAUL EXPRESS! WOO WOO! RON PAUL 2008!
- bryceman111, on 11/21/2007, -27/+11RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT: 2008. WOO! WOO! WOO! BAW Chicka wah wah!

Speaking of "spam", the Ron Paul user has already dugg close to 5 pages worth of articles.- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -1/+5"not saying that's a bad thing" won you a bury.
- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/21/2007, -24/+9BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Ron Paul 2008. Because the U.S.A is already screwed. - damnitdaniel, on 11/21/2007, -8/+2This is the only comment that I feel comfortable replying with the following:
Holy *****! Ron Paul is OLD! The guy is 72 years old! That's like buying a car that has 227,000 miles on it, and then justifying it by saying "But its a Honda. You can get 300k miles out of this puppy"
Just saying, his running mate better be pretty damn competent...
/ducks- wedgemartin, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2We got a lot of mileage out of Strom Thurmond.
- misterpony, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2Good comparison. Ron Paul = Strom Thurmond

- gamer31, on 11/21/2007, -5/+46So they manage to roll this new section out, but still no hint at a picture section.
We need a picture section!!!!!- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -4/+22no we don't. We need for people to stop submitting things that their grandmothers forward to them.
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -1/+6No offense, but if you want to look at pictures of people's cats there are sites for that.
- mattrmcg, on 11/21/2007, -10/+105Where is my favorite candidate, Christopher Walken?

- notque, on 11/21/2007, -3/+14Ralph Nader?
- gamer31, on 11/21/2007, -14/+6Because nobody cares about the independents?
- arcooke, on 11/21/2007, -1/+12Only because the big media doesn't let you hear about them. They don't have money, therefore they don't get heard. Sad but true.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -6/+3you must really want to see someone with a "0" next to their name
- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/21/2007, -5/+2Go ahead, throw your vote away! -Kang

- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -7/+6I LOVED Hilary on Lizzie McGuire. It is weird that she only has one L in her name though. Since most people with her name have wo. like the current presidential candidate and former first lady.
- jerbaker, on 11/21/2007, -1/+3"It is weird that she only has one L in her name though."
You know what's even weirder than that? She doesn't have one "L" in her name. Retard.

- castlecraver, on 11/21/2007, -21/+11Who is this Ron Paul fellow? I've been so busy following legitimate media, considering viable candidates, and listening to people whose opinions matter, I haven't encountered much discussion of him.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -11/+8what do you equate to legitimacy? popular opinion, what megacorps tell you, or truth?
- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -10/+7yeah, look out for those corporate media shills...or the black helicopters will getcha and ship you off with a chip in your butt to a FEMA concentration camp! That is, if the chem-trails don't get ya first...

- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -5/+4And I never said I believe everything the MSM tells me. YOu never said it, but dare I ask...do you believe it?
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -4/+3i questioned the legitimacy of the MSM, and you seemed to suggest that by defying the MSM "black helicopters will get me..." and made it sound as if crazies question the MSM. i'm the reasonable one here.

- BabyWookie, on 11/21/2007, -15/+11He's an ultra right-wing paleocon Republican with some really backwards and scary views. He appeals mostly to racists, misogynists, survivalists, 9/11 truthers (and other conspiracy kooks), social Darwinists, Ayn Rand fanboys, free market utopians, Internet tough guys and other such assholes.
- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -6/+1Who is this Ron Paul....and why is he so un-uuuuuu-sual. (a la Cindi Lauper)
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -11/+8what do you equate to legitimacy? popular opinion, what megacorps tell you, or truth?
- BabyWookie, on 11/21/2007, -16/+9They should let you bury the ones you hate too. BTW, they very well-organized, amoral and cunning Ron Paul spam invaders will make sure that he dominates this. My fellow progressives, let's do our best to counteract this.

- truegodofwar, on 11/21/2007, -9/+92I found the digg button for Paul...now where can I find the bury button for Giuliani?

- iblaine, on 11/21/2007, -7/+25Click refresh on the page and watch Ron Paul's number of friends increase. Meanwhile everyone else goes nowhere. The Ron Paul effect is going to destroy this 'popularity poll'
- nakani, on 11/21/2007, -6/+13It's not a poll.
- iblaine, on 11/21/2007, -5/+6hence the quotes on 'popularity poll'
- Revovisionary, on 11/21/2007, -2/+15I'm actually interested in seeing how many people support someone other then Ron Paul on Digg.
- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -16/+5Come primary time, hit refresh on the CURRENT RESULTS page and watch his votes go nowhere.
- TheSpook, on 11/21/2007, -8/+1This thing is stupid. How can you launch w/o Hillary? I do like the phrase "Ron Paul effect" though!
/Giuliani FTW

- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -23/+16Yeah, I see the Ron Paul spammers have been busy already. I can't wait for the first primaries...and finally we'll see Paul's 2% reality.
- BabyWookie, on 11/21/2007, -16/+7Hopefully, they'll give up and leave Digg alone after this.
- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -12/+6"give up" and "leave digg"? The Paul Patrol? That would be nice, but those people are nuts.

http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Ron_Paul_Wins_Na ...
(The runner up had 20%)- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -4/+8Now THAT is funny. Honestly...do you know the EXACT time that you lost all sense of reality?
And don't say you haven't. You linked to prisonplanet. That is proof.- Toshibi, on 11/21/2007, -4/+3It's an actual Zogby poll, and 33% of Americans polled agreed with Ron Paul's platform.
- bingobongony, on 11/21/2007, -4/+8Now THAT is funny. Honestly...do you know the EXACT time that you lost all sense of reality?
- kazamx, on 11/21/2007, -7/+2while I doubt Ron Paul will win the primary, I very much doubt he will not pick up at least 10% of the vote.
- jetboyterp, on 11/21/2007, -5/+5Oh, there's no way on Earth Paul will win the primaries. But I haven't seen any indication that he'll get as high as 10%. But alas, we'll see what happens soon. Iowa, New Hampshire, and the all-important Super Duper Tuesday.
- ctrlv, on 11/21/2007, -7/+2Why is it spam? You can't vote more than once, and that's who I support for president so I went in and added him. And in turn, others did the same. Where in this equation was spam?
- BabyWookie, on 11/21/2007, -5/+7It's spam, because as soon as this ***** went up, there was a call to war on dozens of Ron Paul message boards, asking people who still don't have Digg accounts to sign up, just to hijack this glorified popularity poll.
- ctrlv, on 11/21/2007, -6/+5Come on, take off the tinfoil. He has supporters, as hard as it is for you to believe. What you're doing is deluding yourself to the point where you think most of his votes are from people that created new digg accounts to vote for him this one time, and everyone else's "friend additions" are not and worth more because there are less of them.
- Toshibi, on 11/21/2007, -3/+4I just found out about this through the Digg RSS feed and took a look. I haven't contacted anyone. I went in and friended RP. It's that simple. Also, believe me, if the network of people had found out about this, his numbers would be much higher than 1800 right now.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -1/+1wookie and terp have their heads buried in the sand. i can't wait for the NH primary.
- BabyWookie, on 11/21/2007, -1/+1Me too. I'm hoping that the Ron Paul invasion of Digg will come to an end after he loses.

- notque, on 11/21/2007, -1/+8Seriously, that would tell us a whole lot more.
- camkerr, on 11/21/2007, -5/+2As of right now the only candidates who have over 100 diggs are the ones who have accepted social networking to help their campaign
- Ianki, on 11/21/2007, -3/+1It's nice to be able to get pipelined stories of interesting second tier candidates who might not otherwise make it to the front page. Of course, since the candidate's offices are presumably picking which articles to digg, it might just lead to more cherry picked headlines or sensationalists attacks rather then good candidate comparisons. Still, i applaud the feature's direction.

http://digg.com/users/RudyGiuliani/friends/befrien ... - tschau, on 11/21/2007, -0/+10fun fact: Rudy Giuliani is actually considered a serious candidate, and is seen by many as a front-runner.
Honestly, I guarantee that if I was given a group of 10 random individuals, there is at least one I would prefer running the nation over Rudy. That is in no way a democrat/republican issue, either.- insllvn, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1I bet if given a group of 10 random individuals, I could find 10 I would rather run the *****.
But doesn't country have an o in it?
No, no it does not.

- SpeakerCity, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/users/RyaninZion is. What a surprise.
- cbegin, on 11/21/2007, -7/+1Is that page a joke? You can't release something like that missing candidates? Work in progress? LOL...how hard is it to find a picture and put a name beside it...or if the picture is a problem, the name will due assuming you're not retarded. FWIW I'm not American so I can't vote anyway...I just found it annoying that the set of candidates was incomplete and yet it was released. I was interested in who the frontrunner was among diggers...but wtf.. complete waste of time digg...bad. Buried.
- herm1t, on 11/21/2007, -7/+1I'm thinking this is some ***** up conspiracy. She is the only candidate I can think of (besides colbert...) who isn't being represented.
If this is a joke, digg isn't very funny.
PS I don't support hillary.- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -1/+7see my other response to cbegin- she isn't included because she DOESN'T HAVE A DIGG PROFILE.
- metapop, on 11/21/2007, -1/+5if she wanted to be a part of digg, she would have months ago. by clicking on them, you add them as a friend, which indicates that everyone has a digg account aside from hillary. any candidate who doesn't recognize the power of digg or other social networking/news aggregating sites don't deserve to be president.
- herm1t, on 11/21/2007, -7/+1I'm thinking this is some ***** up conspiracy. She is the only candidate I can think of (besides colbert...) who isn't being represented.
- ChileanGoD, on 11/21/2007, -0/+13One question.... are these real?? I mean... Who confirmed they are the real candidates behind those user profiles. Or they were just made up to fill up that new section. It would be nice to know.
- notque, on 11/21/2007, -2/+2It should be pretty easy to tell. I can't... *****... wait.
- brad3378, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1No, they are not real.
- ctrlv, on 11/21/2007, -17/+25Argh those Ron Paul spammers are dominating the vote by spamming their stupid Ron Paul, this is ridiculo... what was that? Can't vote more than once? Well that's impossible. how do you explain the fact that he has more votes than Guiliani? No... it must be some kind of Ron Paul hax they've managed to make. Those sneaky bastards I tell you, those spammers will stop at nothing to make it look like he has supporters.
- ctrlv, on 11/21/2007, -13/+3sarcasm doesnt work too well here does it
