Exclusive photos of Digg's offices being built!
flickr.com — Taken from Flickr, these photos are the first to emerge of the brand-spankin'-new Digg office. Cubicles? Shame on you, Digg!
- 1215 diggs
- digg it
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21I think it's smart that they are not blowing insane amounts of money. Very long term thinking.
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -5/+88Aren't these photos old? I thought the new offices were already completed, and Diggnation filmed at them a couple of episodes back.
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18What exactly does a person do in the digg office?
and yes, these are old... May 3rd-May 5th is what the image says... - pwill, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@seanthebond
Yep. From the Flickr page: Photos are from between 25 Apr 06 & 03 May 06.
Only 8 months late, digrob.
@XxUNDEROATHxX
Do you think this website maintains itself?
There are 3/4 MILLION users, with 4,000 stories being submitted per day. - raynar, on 10/12/2007, -23/+9And why does Digg need offices? Seems to me it could be a work from home type thing, since there arent enough updates to really warrant having an office...but hey, need something for the diggers to spank off to.
- HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24@XxUNDEROATHxX: They drink beer of course......and pass funny digger comments back and forth :D
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1@HoosbinPharteen
No more like roll in money and lots of it. - Sun.Surfin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Seeing as these pics were uploaded to Flickr in April of this year, I'm going to say "yes".
EDIT: Sorry, had this page up in tabs, commented, and didn't realise it'd already been mentioned. Digg down. - stevesearer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Here are the completed offices:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinrose/sets/72057594136137247/ - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ok, so when are the Digg office webcams going to be installed?
- steamedlice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Leo Laporte must be spinning in his grave... oh, wait... he's not dead yet. :D
- twit987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes, because cubicles can really eat into their capital.
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@OBKenobi
get a job ***** tard - AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old pics. I've been there. The cubes actually work. It's not a terrible large space, and walling everything off would be terrible. The office has a good flow. It's a nice, relaxing place. So don't knock it.
- dynacrylic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Where is the half-pipe?
- bunni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Half-pipe stays.
- zmenchini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its a gaming ship.
- egrp, on 10/12/2007, -31/+8SOMA?
- egrp, on 10/12/2007, -32/+6I'ts funny people are are digging down my "SOMA?" comment.
All I'm asking is if the offices are located in SOMA (South of MArket) in San Francisco.
Do those people know what I'm talking about or they are just simply digging down because they don't have a clue? Just wondering. You can digg-down this one as well. - degree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22If you're going to ask, you might as well ask using a term people understand.
- TheMysteryCow, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2If they're knowledgable enough about the area to know where the offices are, they'll know what SOMA means.
- danielman94, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I thought he meant soma, from Brave New World...
- lucask, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Prescription muscle relaxants? No silly they need at least Valium to deal with the Digg trolls.
- Citronjaune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are digging down your comment because they just don't care
- egrp, on 10/12/2007, -32/+6I'ts funny people are are digging down my "SOMA?" comment.
- colinwilson, on 10/12/2007, -21/+4Get this on the front page so Kevin and Alex will talk about it on Diggnation, we might see some more photos!
- Gunite, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13It's depressing to see an article like this make it to the front page, because it's sooo ***** lame. And then to see the number of diggs and comments and realize there are so many bored useless people on the planet. And then to waste ones time writing a comment and come to a sudden realization that you are one of them.
sigh

Ok, I posted a comment, so this should help...
I never liked Diggnation but whatever... - RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1seanthebond-You could be right. I can never seem to find the time to watch vidcasts. I watch Diggnation when I can, but audio casts are easier to find time for.
- sicc, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I bet Kevin is real proud of himself. He's watching his small company just a couple years old turn into something really big and successful. I envy his success. Kudos to him...
- an7agonist, on 10/12/2007, -17/+13Now we know what to bomb
- Nerf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4ohh ok
- freff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@an7agonist
Completely classless comment. Yet I still LOL'ed. - ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Somebody set up us the bomb?
- accidental, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14One thing digg needs to add is some way that people cant just go back and re-post 6 month old news.
- adamsucks, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1True, but what does this have to do with their office?
- boardo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These pics have been posted several times on digg, I have a feeling that is what their point was.
- Maku, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I want to work for Digg... Another Pregger in the making...? Ugh... Thats sad though.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This may be old (as the photos say April 20, 2006 in the Flickr copyright), but their office is pretty damn nice. :)
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Disappointing. There seems to be a significant lack of milk crate furniture pieces and load-bearing posters...
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is so very interesting.
- ArizonaKid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Cubicles?
Human beings weren't meant to sit in little cubicles, starring at
computer screens all day, filling out useless forms and listening to
eight different bosses drone on about mission statements.- Gerolsteiner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17That's an inspiring statement, but there's no cover sheet. Didn't you get the memo?
- unimatrixZxero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man complain about cubicles all you want. I would love to have a cubicle workspace. I sit in a studio office with 5 other programmers and it's just a bitch to try an concentrate when you hear 5 other people goofing off, talking on the phone, tapping their fingers, or most annoying hist stupid ass old model 250-ish IBM keyboard. Damn that thing is loud.
- gamemaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I thought Kevin said they didn't have cubicles (on net@nite ep 5) and that the office was open and social.
- RRJackson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, but these cubicles are entirely made out of tofu and they take on the flavor of whatever department they're placed in.
- FireBlade6970, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2I think you will be banned lol I have read this at various sites that digg moderators ban out people who talk bad about digg.I feel its waste of time to stay here if it is true
- ductions, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Digg != Hitler
- Rochmndx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Here are more photos of the Digg office: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinrose/
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i wish digg had forums where we could discuss things about the website. i think its obvious that the comments is no place to go off topic, much like this comment which will get burried of course. but seriously. its time we have a forum where we can have general discussions and a way to private message contacts. the social aspect of this site is sucking.
- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://revision3.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2
- masterc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Almost as fun as watching grass grow...
- lazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You cant afford a couch, but you can afford an office?
- adamkhel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Why is everyone acting like these offices/cubes are so great? They're just like any other normal office space and not even as good as most Silicon Valley tech firms (Sun, Apple, etc.). I've worked at government contracts where the offices were just like that...yuck.
-A- brbubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree. I thought the trend was a move away from the cubicle farm for the modern office space. This only looks like an updated version of the cubicle, pretty ugly.
- RyanDaRin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I want to work at digg!
- RyanDaRin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2What does digg need an office for?
- m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what does google need the googleplex for?
- RyanDaRin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2They dont, thats the point.
- m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what does google need the googleplex for?
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It looks like an office.
- lagerbottom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This was my thought as well. Congratulations...looks like every other ***** office
- vonskippy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Boring the first time around - now it's just so ***** pathetic. How does ANCIENT ***** like this make the front page?
- Sc0rian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1thats amazing, god i wish i was involved with digg.
- jefferson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These are sooo friggin old and they were posted before.
It seems to make the front page of digg all you have to do is go back about a year and repost a story this is happening so often now digg is getting pretty lame. - steamedlice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Astounding. The can afford office space. I thought all the money went toward beers.
- Gullop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How very depressing.
- jayadelson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25You guys realize this is a year old, right?
- dgritsko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1rofl
- digital1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And everyone thought re-runs on TV sucked. Maybe someone should post that Digg has a new look. It has been few days since that story and this is the only Digg related story on the front page.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heh, I thought maybe you guys were moving into new offices again with the influx of new employees
- kibmcz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is that the old netscape offices? They look like the pics from when the one netscape office was closed down.
- metafore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4it's ***** embarassing that 800+ people found this interesting. don't you all have jobs with offices exactly like this?
- systemlayers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pretty good quality steelcase stuff.
those are think chairs. - SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2burry this old crap + how did 900 tards think this was new and digg worthy.
unless with the new updates there is an "out of date news" category - seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, this is sad... over 900 diggs, for an old story. I know that Digg is all about democracy and all, and I'm all for it, but this is proof that everyonce in a while, a little communism isn't a bad thing.
- ldavid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ah stop your complaining. don't like it? digg it down.
Digg is coming to a city (and computer) near you! Check out all the details on our
