Facebook Redesign To Go Live Tomorrow
readwriteweb.com — Five months later and it looks like Facebook is ready to release their new profile redesign. Initially Facebook announced they were working on a redesign earlier this year. In May, a glimpse of the redesigned was released to developers in the developers sandbox. Tomorrow evening the redesign will be open to the public.
- 3384 diggs
- digg it
- theGOG, on 07/20/2008, -30/+76Looks like it'll take some time to get used to, but glad to see Facebook's working on changes that we'll actually notice.
- c010rb1indusa, on 07/21/2008, -19/+6Idk why ppl are digging you down I agree
- WallnutBoy, on 07/21/2008, -2/+9I think I know why people are digging you down.
- sarge96, on 07/21/2008, -4/+1I don't like the new redesign. It almost seems like a step backward, at least what I can can tell from the screenshot. It seems like it's lost some of the sheen and modernness I always liked about it. Also, the problem is not that Myspace allows code, it's that douchebags add code for retarded ***** and have pages that look like someone barfed them up.
- OneStepAhead, on 07/21/2008, -3/+1because he sounds like an old man.. "take some time to get used to" oh yeah it looks so complicated it might break the internets
- notwizt, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Because the only good changes are the ones you notice. Password encryption for example is just a waste of time.
- c010rb1indusa, on 07/21/2008, -19/+6Idk why ppl are digging you down I agree
- InThePants, on 07/20/2008, -35/+11And then they'll take it down on Tuesday for three weeks while they fix it.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -26/+20I like it better than the old design. I first saw this a couple weeks ago at the developer thing... hopefully all the bugs are worked out!
- Cyrus001, on 07/21/2008, -24/+16I don't like that people can now instantly see how barren my wall is.
- bdogm, on 07/21/2008, -5/+11I like that my wall is barren. It makes me feel like I have a life outside of the internet.
- TimeIsTissue, on 07/21/2008, -67/+1pretty cool if it's real. off topic: why wont they follow suit to myspace and allow codes for programs such as music to be added?
- planksconstant, on 07/21/2008, -1/+40because that is horribly obnoxious.
- andrew1338, on 07/21/2008, -3/+93Because that is the entire reason Myspace is a filthy, ***** hole of wangstas, druggies, and attention whores.
Its also the reason Facebook has a clean, consistent look while myspace looks like a clown ate a fruit salad, down a few shots, sucked several ***** (swallowing) and then blew the contents of his gut all over your screen.
***** Myspace- sg7791, on 07/21/2008, -0/+10Oh god.
- HillerMylife, on 07/24/2008, -6/+2Your hyperbole wrapped all the way around the moon and back into the deepest depths of "unfunny," but I agree with your sentiment.
- moobies, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1why does it have to be a clown? i mean, that was a hilarious comment...but im just not sure why it couldn't be say, a lion tamer, or an eskimo....what is the mother ***** clown bringing to the table?
i do ***** hate clowns and myspace though - Ramble, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3He's right though, Myspace does look like cum soaked fruit salad.
- rkzda, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6afaik there are many addons that allow music to be added.
- Snoz, on 07/21/2008, -38/+6Do people still use Facebook?
- Me1000, on 07/21/2008, -5/+16well, enough people to pull in enough ad revenue to make Mark Zuckerberg more money in a month than you will make in your whole lifetime!
- roryk27, on 07/21/2008, -1/+0what are ads? oh you mean those things that flock now doesn't show thanks to adblock plus?
i do like the old look of facebook though... it was simple and it worked
- roryk27, on 07/21/2008, -1/+0what are ads? oh you mean those things that flock now doesn't show thanks to adblock plus?
- PMartinez527, on 07/21/2008, -3/+8everybody i know still uses it without complaints.
its as easy as just clicking "ignore" on any app requests.- sg7791, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5Or you could just leave them unanswered. I have a collection of sorts. Over 100.
- afidler, on 07/21/2008, -3/+4Considering it is the gold standard in social networking, I'm going to go ahead and say "Yes."
- Me1000, on 07/21/2008, -5/+16well, enough people to pull in enough ad revenue to make Mark Zuckerberg more money in a month than you will make in your whole lifetime!
- UltramegaOK, on 07/21/2008, -30/+703***** IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!
- antiorblkflag9, on 07/21/2008, -107/+12....Way to irrelevantly quote an old meme in a sad attempt for diggs.
- warlax27, on 07/21/2008, -6/+59Way to get dugg down for being an *****...
- DephexTwin, on 07/21/2008, -4/+35The thing you're forgetting is that this meme is hilarious.
- smokeymcdank, on 07/21/2008, -1/+22Way to be dugg up for pointing out that the guy was getting dugg down for bitching about another guy's attempt to get dugg up.
- snapple232, on 09/10/2008, -0/+0Way to be dugg up for pointing out the guy was getting dugg up for pointing out that the other guy was getting dugg down for bitching about another guy's attempt to get dugg up.
Etc.
- gl77, on 07/21/2008, -37/+15*****' THING SUCKS!!!
- dagamer34, on 07/21/2008, -24/+9Billo at his best.
- TylerM, on 07/21/2008, -9/+4Thank you for your contribution to this conversation.
- redfred18t, on 07/21/2008, -6/+41Ultra, that was easily the best usage of that phrase that I've seen on digg!
- Pacifican, on 07/21/2008, -5/+2610/10
- phoenixankit, on 07/21/2008, -19/+1Would have sounded even funnier without the 'IT' after '*****'
- bokep, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4Wrong
- fletcher008, on 07/21/2008, -2/+13I really wish i could digg you up again. Excellent A++++ would digg again.
- DMCer, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2You clearly just modified some eBay feedback for that comment...
- dezwald, on 07/21/2008, -9/+7i feel like i am left out??...where is this quote from?
- HA5TY, on 07/21/2008, -1/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tJjNVVwRCY
- Intervene, on 07/21/2008, -2/+3LMFAO!!!
- cornwarrior, on 07/21/2008, -2/+5Hah Hah, that made me pee a little.
- brett1337, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3you cant pee a little.
//obligatory response
- brett1337, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3you cant pee a little.
- antiorblkflag9, on 07/21/2008, -107/+12....Way to irrelevantly quote an old meme in a sad attempt for diggs.
- robodork, on 07/21/2008, -17/+528PLEASE, NO MORE APPS!!!
- MicroBerto, on 07/21/2008, -0/+26When I had enough of the apps, I went to the Top Apps page and blocked the 75 or so most popular apps. I rarely get invited to join one now.
A lot of other peoples' pages still look stupid, but at least I don't get e-mailed and invited to use all their stuff anymore. Well worth the 5 minutes of time to block them.- Drugx2, on 07/21/2008, -0/+10i just turned my apps notifications off in my account menu.
- Drewboy64, on 07/21/2008, -4/+16I decided a year ago to not delete my invites to apps. I currently I have 452 invitations to various applications. A bit ridiculous, don't ya think?!
http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3p ...
And my proof... : )- Raz4Life, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4I started to do the same thing, but I'm only up to about 150 or so. They're mostly "Find out what vampire you are!" or "Buddy Ofyours ranked you better personality over Douche Face!"
- Myonosken, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3After using "block application" on invites for a week, I've only had like one request a week since then. They're usually the same twenty or so applications.
- AdamFromMyspace, on 07/21/2008, -3/+1I have over 1200 pending, easily.. Adam 'King Kong' Smith on facebook
- evilregis, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4You're beating me. I am at 349. ***** thing sucks.
- Noah0504, on 07/21/2008, -4/+4I wish there were a few more guidelines to the Facebook applications. Why not let only legitimate companies create applications. I love, for instance, using the Last.fm application to display my recently played tracks to friends. However, I do not feel the need to add bumper stickers -- that's what my piece of ***** car is for.
- npsquire1, on 07/21/2008, -5/+7Why so serious?
- davidlick, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3Good reference, poorly executed.
- Myonosken, on 07/21/2008, -0/+6The plus side is that apps are on their own page so we no longer have to worry about them.
- equinoxChild, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8Add 20 of your friends, to get this request granted!
- 65daysofsteve, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2use the greasemonkey script called unfu_ckfacebook - remove the underscore.
no more ***** apps. back to basics facebook.
- MicroBerto, on 07/21/2008, -0/+26When I had enough of the apps, I went to the Top Apps page and blocked the 75 or so most popular apps. I rarely get invited to join one now.
- fool13, on 07/21/2008, -16/+4I'll definitely reactivate my account to check it out but I doubt I'll stick around. It's a welcome change from people posting on your wall to calling you up or coming over in person.
- eltardo, on 07/21/2008, -22/+4Facebook is the devil. When will people learn?
- hellahyphy, on 07/21/2008, -2/+2and yet you probably have one.
- eltardo, on 07/21/2008, -4/+4nope, never have, never will.
- Krispykitten, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1if you've never had one, how would u know if its the devil or not?
- hellahyphy, on 07/21/2008, -2/+2and yet you probably have one.
- TechologyPundit, on 07/21/2008, -18/+2Facebook is the devil? Kinda like Google. lol.
- antiorblkflag9, on 07/21/2008, -11/+571And now 5000 groups are going to pop up about petitioning to return to the "old facebook"....again....
- hellahyphy, on 07/21/2008, -2/+29seriously
- PainToad, on 07/21/2008, -0/+180And "THEY ARE MAKING FACEBOOK A PAID SERVICE" groups will continue, I hate my friends
- babylonian, on 07/21/2008, -0/+155"THEY ARE TRYING TO SHUT DOWN FACEBOOK!"
- EmileVictor, on 07/21/2008, -0/+20It's amazing how busy these "they" people have gotten these days.
- ManiacX, on 07/21/2008, -0/+29"10,000 PEOPLE MUST JOIN FOR THEM NOT TO SHUT IT DOWN!"
- CatherineSouth, on 07/21/2008, -2/+4"10,000 PEOPLE MUST CLICK ON THIS AD SO WE CAN GET THE OLD FACEBOOK BACK!!!"
- Seann7656, on 07/21/2008, -2/+23I just recently joined the group "people who hate people that make and/or join groups about the most random things"
- kingvik, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6You should join the group "Naked Sunday Brunch"
- HOTM, on 07/21/2008, -1/+8I like to step on crunchy leafs!
- Myonosken, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3Irony?
- celkin, on 07/21/2008, -1/+20I FLIP MY PILLOW OVER TO GET TO THE COLD SIDE
- Mistaxe, on 07/21/2008, -0/+10why the ***** did you join a group that wantonly uses the word "random"? I HATE when people do that:
"You're SO random."
"So we were just being TOTALLY random last night!!!11`1"
"I was driving to Taco Bell last night at 2am, it was so RANDOM"
None of those are accurate. - moobies, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2wow...^^ that was random wasn't it guys/girl(or two)?
- FLAESHAL, on 07/21/2008, -1/+18▪ JOIN TO PUT A STOP TO CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES
- sbartz, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3You should actually make this group.
EDIT: and it's already made. - gapingass, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5I totally ***** joined that group
- sbartz, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3You should actually make this group.
- reformation, on 07/21/2008, -1/+5Forward this comment to see what happens!!!!!!
I tell you what happens - I punch you. - aliguana, on 07/21/2008, -1/+9"I bet I can find 1,000,000 people who hate the new Facebook layout"
oh, really?
I'm going to start a group:
"I bet I can find 1,000,000 people who don't give a toss about your 'I bet I can find...' group"- PRGUY85, on 07/21/2008, -0/+7Yea, exactly what happened with the Mini Feed and News Feed...people hated it and now love it since part of what makes Facebook tick is that people can learn about every little detail of other people's lives (as much as they allow them)...News Feed just made it easier for them hehe.
- jayman488, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5does anyone even care about groups anymore?
- wedges, on 07/21/2008, -17/+77so the mini-feed and wall are merged? *****.
- blueandgreen24, on 07/21/2008, -11/+1they already are, whats the big deal?
- Myonosken, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5No they aren't...?
- HairyFotr, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4I hope the privacy policy is still separate.
- AdamFromMyspace, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1It'll probably be a lot like facebook chat, now, which isn't a bad thing! Facebook chat rocks. (except for users randomly going offline)
- dhughes, on 07/21/2008, -0/+9 To be renamed the 'weed'.
- mikeleeuk, on 07/21/2008, -1/+7The Mini-Feed and Wall are nothing to do with each other! I really can't understand why they thought merging them was a good idea.
The new design is a total car crash.
- blueandgreen24, on 07/21/2008, -11/+1they already are, whats the big deal?
- h4mx0r, on 07/21/2008, -11/+3I somehow came upon one of the new layouts while I was surfing a new friends page. When I left the page, my facebook reverted to the current design and when I went back, it was gone.
From the couple minutes that I experienced it... it felt much more streamlined and simpler.- DephexTwin, on 07/21/2008, -1/+11Are you a compulsive liar?
- StefanArak, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0If he answered your question with a yes, it would pose a problematic situation.
Then again, if he says no, that is to be expected if the answer is actually yes.
- StefanArak, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0If he answered your question with a yes, it would pose a problematic situation.
- DephexTwin, on 07/21/2008, -1/+11Are you a compulsive liar?
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/21/2008, -19/+6They didn't re-design anything. They just moved the same stuff around and changed some tints of colors. Its still a horrible interface thats barely useable.
- drewbudd, on 07/21/2008, -4/+12Does somebody need a friend request?
I guess Myspace is better cause you got Tom to be your friend.- cadmiumpaint, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1huh? you're an idiot. Its not about friend counts or myspace. Its about the fact that i think facebook is a horrible interface and that their "red-design" is just a whole lot of nothing.
learn to read.
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1huh? you're an idiot. Its not about friend counts or myspace. Its about the fact that i think facebook is a horrible interface and that their "red-design" is just a whole lot of nothing.
- drewbudd, on 07/21/2008, -4/+12Does somebody need a friend request?
- jakatak, on 07/21/2008, -3/+80I just wish it was more customizable like igoogle is. don't mind te ads. At least they don't monopolize the page like myspace.
- Commodore84, on 07/21/2008, -13/+43http://adblockplus.org/en/
But, you use Myspace, so you're probably an IE user anyway.- Rezistik, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2I use myspace and slackware and firefox :(
- frieddonuts, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2You just accused a Digg user of using IE? That's worse than calling him a Scientologist! Them's fightin words.
- dagamer34, on 07/21/2008, -1/+17I find it funny how guys get ads about sexy girls and girls get ads about weight loss.
FACEBOOK KNOWS TOO MUCH!- kianbung, on 07/21/2008, -8/+7ads? what ads?
- jhandfield, on 07/21/2008, -1/+20We get it, kianbung, you use an ad blocker and you're better than the rest of us. Don't be a douche.
- jpinsonault, on 07/21/2008, -3/+1He's just trying to help you be a better person too
- Millsee, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2nerd-god > computer-simpleton
- dagamer34, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1The reason why I don't use adblock is because I think some ads deserve a click. Besides, websites aren't really designed for so much white space.
Now Adblock on the iPhone, that I can sign up for!
- bcr8u, on 07/21/2008, -9/+4facebook has ads?
- afidler, on 07/21/2008, -1/+0It is customizable much like (but not completely) like igoogle...you can move any box to any part of your profile (as long as it is within the column-size space, for obvious physical reasons)
- Commodore84, on 07/21/2008, -13/+43http://adblockplus.org/en/
- seldon452, on 07/21/2008, -46/+81I don't get this mentality to change the UI on websites all the ***** time just for the sake of it. I understand the need to innovate and I love innovation but still. Sometimes I feel like facebook is just like "Huh, we have a solid user base and a good layout and everything is going really well. LETS ***** IT UP BY ADDING APPLICATIONS AND CHANGING THE UI FOR NO REASON!!!"
Its especially bad to change the UI to look good only to have it destroy the original purpose of the website or software *cough* windows vista *cough cough*
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Although facebook is broken and I recommend a serious overhaul, this isn't it.- danomagnum, on 07/21/2008, -2/+22I think it will be a positive improvement, tidying everything up.
- FoxOrian, on 07/21/2008, -0/+10I remember when DeviantART was actually kind of a decent place when it started. Since the place gets a new look every year, things just keep getting more and more messed up...
Though of course we can also blame this on part of some of its userbase as well,
but really I never recall anything wrong with their older UI's. [especially version 2.]- MalDON, on 07/21/2008, -0/+6Doesn't help when their "CEO" is a complete *****. I left when they fired the co founder, Jark.
- FoxOrian, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Same here, actually.
Honestly I wonder if jark is happier being unassociated with it now?
- LemonDefragger, on 07/21/2008, -0/+7Facebook does need a good-fixer upper. For instance, if you want to see old notifications, you have to go to Inbox and then click on the notification tab. It's counterintuitive.
- mimigins, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1holy crap i did not know that.
- lordtyros, on 07/21/2008, -1/+9If you don't mix things up, people get bored and leave. FACT.
- Issius, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
- Hess10, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2the apps are a monetization strategy dumbass
- Myonosken, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2I don't think they've changed the UI in a few years and definitely since they 'went big', so it probably is about time they assessed how good their layout is.
Plus it'll help solve the issues with apps being everywhere, which is good. - godsdead, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3I think having the apps seperate will make things a ton cleaner though, i hated the profiles before that were filled with *****
- trashrockx, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1putting apps on their website was a way for them to make (a ***** load of) money...they really don't care if it makes user's profiles look retarded. their disclaimer is that YOU chose to add the app to your page, and it wasn't created by facebook, so if it looks bad thats not their fault. and they're right.
i think the new layout is nice adding the apps to a seperate tab to keep them out of people's way, however with everything else in a tab it might be annoying to click thru tabs to see what you want to see in people's profiles. I also don't think it'll be as nice being a wider website. I liked the narrow-ness of it. it has always felt different in that respect from other social networking sites, and i dont think that point was emphasised enough. - deezeejoey, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1"LETS ***** IT UP BY ADDING APPLICATIONS AND CHANGING THE UI FOR NO REASON!!!""
- Yeah like adding apps has totally hurt facebook in the long run. [/sarcasm]
- alimighty1, on 07/21/2008, -0/+397prepare for tons of OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO FACEBOOK status updates tomorrow
- stevenk87, on 07/21/2008, -0/+18Yep. Facebook's been doing their best to give people a heads up about the changes, but I fully expect there to be a status update riot tomorrow.
- kcdstudios, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1CRUISE CONTROL....
- passedoutghost, on 07/21/2008, -0/+41***** it, I'll update my status today to confuse people.
- BadAssFlip, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0^ haha, me too!
done! - Garlik, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3I'll take a screenshot of it and post it on digg. Instant front page story, sadly
- stevenk87, on 07/21/2008, -0/+18Yep. Facebook's been doing their best to give people a heads up about the changes, but I fully expect there to be a status update riot tomorrow.
- tallerthenyou, on 07/21/2008, -3/+86considering the only thing I ever use on my friends profiles is the wall it's going to be a welcomed change to not have to scroll past dozens of random apps to get to it.
- Aldanga, on 07/21/2008, -4/+2Or you could just remove those applications' boxes from your profile.
- tallerthenyou, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8the only app I have in my profile is the video box app to help promote my friends band. I'm talking about when I go to my friends profiles to write on their walls and I have to scroll past a bunch of apps to get down to it.
- TrbleClef, on 07/21/2008, -3/+4Of course, instead of scrolling, you could just click on the Wall icon under their picture and go right to it.
- CatherineSouth, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4If you can find the Wall icon amongst the rest of the crap...
- Aldanga, on 07/21/2008, -4/+2Or you could just remove those applications' boxes from your profile.
- diggface5000, on 07/21/2008, -1/+14The photo albums page and the personal info page were definitely easier to navigate in the new version. The news feed/ wall combo is really a pain though. I really couldn't care less if my friend adds america's best dance crew to her favorite tv shows. All of the boxes are unchecked.. why can't we filter this crap ??
- Bartboy919, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4On home screen, scroll to preferences on the bottom and scroll the slider to groups all the way down.
- airwalkery2k, on 07/21/2008, -4/+151Oh crap. This calls for a status update. I'll be the first of my friends to complain about it. Before it ever even happens. That means I win at Facebook!
- kcdstudios, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6i just changed mine FTW!
- kianbung, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4just changed mine too.
- moobies, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2***** your statuses...why don't you guys just be honest and change it to what it should really say:
'Martin' is taking a dick right now
- seastobble, on 07/21/2008, -12/+5this is a welcome addition to the iphone app update
- mrmacky, on 07/21/2008, -6/+29I for one am glad to see this redesign. I think I'll enjoy it quite a bit, but honestly it's gonna piss off a lot of people. I'm sure that by the end of tomorrow, 100's of facebook groups will have been started to "petition" against the redesign because they want Bumper Stickers back on the front page of their profile.
I think the new design is great. It'll have it's kinks to work out sure, but it will really cut down on clutter, and it's good to see that on a social network, because I think /a lot/ of profiles need to go on a serious diet ;p.- Krispykitten, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0After playing around with the new Facebook, I found out that you actually can put apps on the front page of your profile (putting it in the left hand column of the wall tab), but most people probably won't be able to figure out how to do it.
- trobrock, on 07/21/2008, -9/+13Looks like they are implementing some good changes, I'm looking forward to trying it out tomorrow
- StandardsDT, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2You can try it out now at http://www.new.facebook.com./home.php. It's been live since last week just was never publicly stated.
- jpinsonault, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1it's dead jim :(
- btm4k, on 07/21/2008, -1/+3new.facebook.com is for app developers only
- elambing, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2why the hell would you dig him down.
- trobrock, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0Seems they took the new site down, because I just get a page not found error when trying to go to it. Also, seems that redesign was not implemented today, unless it will be later in the day...
- StandardsDT, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2You can try it out now at http://www.new.facebook.com./home.php. It's been live since last week just was never publicly stated.
- fractorial, on 07/21/2008, -11/+4Facebook might need a serious overhaul, but this new UI isn't it.
- PainToad, on 07/21/2008, -0/+6It still kicks MySpace's arse
- thegrantman, on 07/21/2008, -17/+2Who gives a *****? Get a ***** life.

- zenithmbr, on 07/21/2008, -19/+2facebook is for douche bags
- seandfeeney, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6You, are a douche bag!
- leonwestbrook, on 07/21/2008, -3/+6You probably have no friends.
- zenithmbr, on 07/21/2008, -4/+2no i just don't require a computer program to keep in touch with them.
- lordtyros, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6Yeah, all you need is your imagination
- StefanArak, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1God, you sound like an old man who is xenophobic towards any of this 'new-fangled technology'.
You don't need a phone, an instant messenger, an email service, or anything to keep in touch with your friends! You don't even need snail mail. All you need is to walk around and find them; social networking sites just make it easier, more functional, and more exciting, you ***** idiot.
- cofingp, on 07/21/2008, -11/+3How much more personal information do they need to steal?
- newl, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8Only as much as you are willing to give them.
- fuzzmeister, on 07/21/2008, -1/+5If you don't want to share your information, don't use it. Simple as that.
- DynamiteMonkey, on 07/21/2008, -5/+24As long as I don't need to look at anyone's Apps ever again, I might actually log on more than once a month.
- jpinsonault, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1you don't, just close them all O.o
They go away...
- jpinsonault, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1you don't, just close them all O.o
- jasmus, on 07/21/2008, -7/+54I joined facebook becuase myspace is a mess of ***** gifs and crappy music that autoplays. Now every time i sign into facebook, I have a million invitations to bite a warewolf or some *****.
- chrisbarr, on 07/21/2008, -0/+49The "block all application invites from this person" and "never accept invitations from this application" buttons do wonders.
- jasmus, on 07/21/2008, -3/+2until someone else invites me to something else...

http://members.tripod.com/~MacOp/simpsounds/Abraha ... - Speed, on 07/21/2008, -1/+4jpinsonault: I wish I could digg you more than once. This is the new sound for when Windows crashes. I'll probobly get sick of hearing it every 50 seconds within a week, but meh.
- shibbyo, on 07/21/2008, -0/+9Get better friends
- chrisbarr, on 07/21/2008, -0/+49The "block all application invites from this person" and "never accept invitations from this application" buttons do wonders.
- dalnet22, on 07/21/2008, -8/+1Unnecessary.
- thegodfaza, on 07/21/2008, -4/+18This is a great idea. Instead of scrolling down infinitely long pages everything is on tabs.
- ralphthemagi, on 07/21/2008, -7/+2Just restore the entire thing to 2005 and call it a day. Every change to Facebook makes it worse, less intuitive, more bloated, and less useful.
- MilesyMiles, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Dude, we can't all be popular.
Seriously, you gotta let it go.
- MilesyMiles, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Dude, we can't all be popular.
- DirtPile, on 07/21/2008, -15/+0Cowboy gay sex. Sodomyyyy-eeeee!
Bring it on, thefacebook.com, ye tossers. - 2clone, on 07/21/2008, -4/+43http://www.new.facebook.com
- TylerM, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8Can people without the Developer Application see that yet?
- Kanidia, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8You can add the developer application and you will be able to see it.
- Kr1ngle0, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8http://developers.facebook.com/get_started.php
Need to add that first. - theRed, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1Yep
- MikeSetera, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1It's wider.. I like it.
- bazooze28, on 07/21/2008, -0/+22thats what she said
- kevinwiz, on 07/21/2008, -1/+40redirects to regular facebook for me
- masfenix, on 07/21/2008, -0/+14Damnit!!! I ahte the new Mini-Feed and Wall merged together.
- eminn3m, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1why is this link being thumbed down it shows you the entire new page without having to jump through any hoops
- TylerM, on 07/21/2008, -0/+8Can people without the Developer Application see that yet?
- tama00, on 07/21/2008, -5/+40Nooo dont combine the mini feed and the wall
PLEASE DONT!- Kanidia, on 07/21/2008, -0/+10Provided that you don't write on your own wall, click "Posts by others" to see your wall.
- skidooer, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Actually, the threaded messages are kind of cool. It wouldn't be possible without combining the wall and mini-feed.
- KaivenTor, on 07/21/2008, -8/+9I was initially impressed by the screenshots that FaceBook popped out for the redesign. They were similar to the main site, but still had all the familiar controls and utilized tabs on top to care of apps.
This new design however seems to bear only two things in common: the info being displayed and the colors. Otherwise, it's annoying and downright hideous at points. It would seem that there is such a thing as too clean and FaceBook nailed it. Now if they would hire a graphic designer to fill in the gaping holes created by the white space and lack of lines in this new design, they might be able to balance it out a bit more and make it more fun to use.
Overall, I'll see how it works when it goes live, but for the moment, I am just not impressed with it at all. I expected a helluva lot more from a company this big and on the forefront of what it does.- redslash, on 07/21/2008, -2/+2You get what you pay for.
- KaivenTor, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1@redslash: That's true, but is that really an excuse for a company of Facebook's stature to do something like this? They depend on their users as much as we like to use them. If they mess up their user base, the ad money drops off and the VC checks stop coming. So, yeah, maybe we do get what we pay for, but FB will pay a helluva lot more in the long run.
My main point is that for a company with that many designers and programmers on staff, they could have done a better job. They might not have had enough outlets for feedback in between the beta and the launch and now they're going to get an overload of feedback.

- eryximachus, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3digg this comment up - it is a personally reasonable opinion of the redesign.
- redslash, on 07/21/2008, -2/+2You get what you pay for.
- Lith25, on 07/21/2008, -11/+9I don't like that someone has to actually click a separate tab to see the added applications. Sure, some people have so many it ruins the page, but I like having a couple that people see when they write on my wall.
- Krispykitten, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0You can have a few in the wall tab, just put them in the left column. Just click on the little pencil icon on the app and then click "move to wall tab".
- jeshjohn, on 07/21/2008, -8/+3well that explains why it is down.
- Theod48, on 07/21/2008, -13/+8this is why its good to be a digg user to get the heads up, so tomorrow we can watch all the yuppies freak out when their whole ui is changed...BRUHAHAHAHAH!
- john2kx, on 07/21/2008, -8/+3it's back up, but there aren't any changes live yet.
- rjc309, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4it's probably going back into development for another 3 months
- thegrantman, on 07/21/2008, -10/+5So the big news in your lives is that Facebook is making some changes. This should make it even easier for you not to get laid.
- D3koy, on 07/21/2008, -8/+4Know what would be awesome? If I could minimize the mini-feed and drag it to the bottom where it belongs... If I cared if Cousin Jimmy tagged me in a photo I'd enable updates sent to me via email...
- Owwmykneecap, on 07/21/2008, -9/+4It looks exactly the same but a little wider.
The problem with Facespace is the apps. but they seem to be the key to making money and wont be going anywhere soon.
I'll stick to bebo (which has those apps now grrrr) anyhow, practically everyone in my country is on it where as facebook is very far behind.- cadmiumpaint, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2no one forces you to add apps. I don't have any.
- Denneval, on 07/21/2008, -8/+6I think the largest flaw in every Facebook redesign is the aftermath of users feeling completely disoriented.
"I can't get to my 'Which Sex and the City Character Are You?' application fast enough!"
Oooooh... nevermind. http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1334924 - rjc309, on 07/21/2008, -3/+44why are so many comments getting buried? i smell a conspiracy.
- theculchie1, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6Facebook's marketing monkeys must be working overtime.
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3anyone who says anything negative about facebook is automatically buried.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 07/21/2008, -19/+2hey guys i plan to make a facebook group to petition this new change. you guys should all join.
Now, i know there will be lots of these groups, but i want mine to be the biggest. As a result, I am going to do something a little different. I am going to ask every member that wants to join to bring a virtual carrot.... and stick it in my ass.- rosekevin, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3This is why Facebook should have kept it exclusive to college students.
- jokerhl, on 07/21/2008, -7/+3Who needs it.
- leonwestbrook, on 07/21/2008, -3/+3So many are going to BAWWWW about this, just like the mini feed. Anyone remember that?
