Fark.com gets Dugg, threatening collapse of space-time

valleywag.com — Some enterprising young lad submitted Fark.com to Digg -- eight days ago. Fark predates Digg by several years. It has elements of social news like Digg, but it's more in the spirit of the Daily Show than Digg's Slashdot-inspired tech obsessions.

      Fark has turned into the disney channel of news aggregaters/forums. If Drew thinks advertisers "hate that crap" of some of the more risque posts that made Fark fun, I'm sure they'll be thrilled at the prospect of a rapidly declining userbase.

    I foresee two possibilities: 1. Digg being Dugg to death would overload the server and it would simply go offline. Or 2, it could cause a paradox which could unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe! That is, of course, a worst-case scenario. The destruction might be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

      Anyway, now I use digg as timekiller and "hey guys you have to see this" show on my lunch break at work.

    No, make that that it turned to ***** when they created TotalFark and ruined the photoshop contests by allowing the TotalFark users to see the images and post their entries several days in advance of everyone else, so they have a huge voting advantage and get first crack at the best jokes.

    Or maybe it turned to ***** when they banned me because I posted in one of the forums about a great local eatery which their moderators decided must have been written by a spammer because they're morons.

He's set it up so that when you're banned for no good reason you won't notice for weeks because it still lets you post, but it hides your posts from everyone else. So you'll only know you're banned if you log out and see your posts are missing, or notice that nobody is replying to you anymore or voting on your photoshops.

    fark is nothing more than a method for Drew Curtis to market his pornography and merchandise. This world would be a better place if we all never knew who he was and never heard from him again.

    Also, digg's traffic was 10x that of fark, last time I checked. fark has been in steady decline for over a year, and rightfully so.

      Fark and digg offer different things to different people. Obvious from the comments above a lot of farkers also visit digg and vice versa.
      I suppose you drive a pickup truck, live in Florida and have appeared on TSG?
