  • jdawg, on 03/31/2008, -46/+55thanks for point it out. i was cross posting my delicious to facebook and it was adding the mahalo flower. we've sinced removed the flower replacing it with a thumbnail of the site we're bookmarking. i agree the flower was over the top/obnoxious. we've corrected this for everyone using Mahalo Share. When is this screen shot from anyway??! because we fixed this weeks ago. all the best, jason at mahalo.com

    • Goblin, on 03/31/2008, -3/+10The content of the page isn't the issue. Wht was happening was Json was feeding a lot of stuff through to his facebook feed promoting stories on www.Mahalo.com. Anyone who was friends with him found their feed being overwhelmed with Mahalo stories and it kinda ruined the ability to see anything else, as can be seen in the screen grab. As Jason has pointed out, they've now fixed this so it isn't obnoxious anymore.

      As for who he is - started Weblogs Inc which brings us sites like Joystiq and Engadget. Mahalo is a "human powered search engine" and is useless for hardcore googlers, but is great for your mum if she can't be bothered trawling through five pages of blogspam to find a definitive page (according to the wisdom of the crowd) for a chosen topic. He's also a shameless self-publicist, which is why his projects tend to be successful (netscape digg clone not included). Lots of people hate him/his attitude, I think he's funny, and I'm not just saying that because I want to win the MacBook Air he's giving away on Twitter.

        Thats really really great for the small percentage of the overall digg population that actually gives half a damn about this guy and has him as a friend/reads his feed every day. For the other 99% I don't think I speak out of line when I say piss off and stop wasting space and bandwidth on this *****.

    also, Facebook has this really advanced new feature: unfriend. also, facebook allows you turn off individual content types or people... i know it's crazy. please RT(f)M before wasting everyone's time with an image that you can;t even read!

    also, fairly obvious you made the image tiny so folks could not read that they were actually interesting bookmarks... thus the reason i have 5,000 folks on facebook following me. many folks like getting interesting links (check: digg).

I added Keith Ellison (congress), and constantly see him adding friends in my updates. Can't wait for personalized preferences that say "I want to see who my friends are adding as friends, except in the case of these X popular people."

He's hilarious and very clever.

    To those about this article's relevancy: This is more of a gossip piece on a Silicon Valley celebrity than hard fact news. However, Digg *can* be used to SHARE things that you DIG! So in conclusion: I'm a Calacanis fanboy and I agree that if the article is true then you should add him on Pownce(if you haven't been there in the last 2 months you need to check it out. I was a hater at first) and Twitter instead of Facebook. If you are a tech entrepreneur then you will find it interesting in reading the comments of a rich serial entrepreneur who keeps himself very accessible.
