Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town -- The trippy deleted scene
star1021fm.com — So, if you watch Santa Claus is Comin' to Town on TV anymore, this scene is almost always deleted. Supposedly it's because of time constraints, but to me it looks like a flippin' acid trip (or at least what I assume an acid trip would look like). Hey, it was 1970 after all. The video's at the bottom of the page.

- TeachX3, on 12/20/2007, -3/+15ROFLOL! We do not watch it on TV... we have the original show on video, so we see the trippy scene each year and make funny comments about it each time!! :D
- voteforblank, on 12/20/2007, -7/+7Well it was 'atrsy' orientals... the work was done overseas folks. Just as was Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer.
- mds40, on 12/20/2007, -1/+11orientals? anthropormorphized rugs? no way!!!
- sethisastud, on 12/20/2007, -2/+7Oriental is considered correct in much of the world.
- dualityim, on 12/20/2007, -7/+7And it is considered offensive in parts of the world too.
- luet, on 12/20/2007, -4/+4No it is not.
- marsh283, on 12/20/2007, -4/+2yeah but who really cares?
- ajchavar, on 12/20/2007, -1/+7actually oriental is generally considered correct in reference to an object, such as an oriental rug or oriental architecture, fashion or food. it is normally (but not always) considered offensive in reference to people.
- bludragn0, on 12/20/2007, -1/+5Besides, the orient is used to refer to the middle east (thus oriental rugs), not to eastern asia. You could've just said asian instead of oriental and it wouldn't have been as offensive. Using it to describe a person is demeaning.
- mem2, on 12/20/2007, -1/+4cry us a ***** river you PC whingers.
- dualityim, on 12/20/2007, -7/+7And it is considered offensive in parts of the world too.

- joshgeek, on 12/20/2007, -1/+7i'm willing to bet the animators were outsourced, but the art direction was most likely domestic. besides, don't pretend that america was the only country whose art students were dabbling in psychedelia. kind of a lazy approach if you ask me, but then again it was a relatively new and very popular style at the time.
- 2oonhed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Is that why she has "Chinese Eyes" at 1:47?
- mds40, on 12/20/2007, -1/+11orientals? anthropormorphized rugs? no way!!!
- GuacamoleSan, on 12/20/2007, -3/+11He musta slipped her an acid tab
- KnockoutNerd, on 12/20/2007, -1/+17How do you think they got ratings back in the '70s?
And she looks high while she is signing. - Shiftgood, on 12/20/2007, -1/+28Thats not what acid looks like, but its what you should look at on acid.
- RedHerringHack, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Roger that.
- Jadix, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3I dont know....i thought it had some reminiscent effects.
first of all, the feeling when the first bits of water fall on the lens is similar in a fear and loathing kind of way
also the swirling lines that were the water and the clouds had an obviously hallucinogenic inspired artist- evil-doer, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5i love watching fear and loathing, that movie was done so well to capture the feel of drugs. you feel high just watching it sober.
the moving patterns on the carpet in the movie are so dead on for acid or shrooms
- evil-doer, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5i love watching fear and loathing, that movie was done so well to capture the feel of drugs. you feel high just watching it sober.
- JohnFrazee, on 12/20/2007, -5/+3"This text is replaced by the movie"
- mehgahurtz, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2Are you using NoScript? That's what mine said too until I allowed that site.
- cambob76, on 12/20/2007, -1/+28Uhm... I think they cut it because it's annoying and just plain awful.
- guineapiglove, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1it is awful, pointless, and extremely trippy, can't deny that
- sacredpigeon, on 12/20/2007, -10/+4Man...Mrs. Claus is smokin' hawt!! I'd love to bend her crickety wooden (assuming she's made out of wood, i doubt its clay) bosom across my lap so I can spank her splintery ass. :D
- spyd3rweb, on 12/20/2007, -1/+6One should look into the shaman origins of Santa Clause and the Amanita Muscaria.
- Atomic1fire, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4this is what happens when humans eat the magic food that santas raindeer eat to fly
- KungF0o, on 12/20/2007, -5/+1I'd do her.
- bwdd, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1What the hell is with all the robophiles?
- theangrybaby, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2woah dude, look at all the colors....
- luet, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8This was never deleted when I saw it as a child... maybe only because I'm in canada.
- GuacamoleSan, on 12/20/2007, -3/+1lol canada
- IanPatterson, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSCq34_49Ws
- whymanwhy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4The lyrics all hold true to a real acid trip. It made me look at the little things I had always walked past.
- rutterj2, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10"never have i been so high above the clouds..."
no kidding - charlietuna, on 12/20/2007, -2/+7Mrs. Claus is hot!
( I remember this scene too) - sirpwn4g3, on 12/20/2007, -4/+5Deleted my ass, it's always been there. Taken out due to lameness possibly. Now the sandstorm in Star Wars Ep.4... that's a deleted scene, this is not. I call inaccurate, and thus I bury it.
- twarner, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0I just saw on family channel. guess standards change
- maximm, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2nah i saw it on tv the other day and was chuckling at the scene i do agree about the acid trip part
- Revjack, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1That giant flower that came out of the pavement looked a lot like a poppy.
- jorgefeucht, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10That scene is not that trippy, check out Dumbo's "pink elephants on parade" scene. It turns into a really bad trip near the middle of the clip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdwVqGGbXno - unyxterra, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1it was on ABC Family the other night and that scene was not cut out. I thought it was pretty strange..especially her cartoon face floating around.
- sistim, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Let you hair down ma' and sign yo' crazy *****.
- grantmoore3d, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Ummm.... I don't think that was deleted, unless the channels you watched it on censor it or something...
- turbodork, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Not really trippy, but perhaps similarly disturbing. A spoof of the old Rankin & Bass' holiday specials a friend and I did where Rudolph has to help save Christmas and rescue his friends from The Island of Misfit Sex Toys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dV8P9u-EV8 - antitab, on 12/20/2007, -0/+134 on this?
- tinkertoy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0Reminds me a lot of the old animated Brady Bunch cartoons whenever they'd sing. Trippy, dude.
- onionoino, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Old stop motion puppets = creepy
If i ever watched this whilst on acid i believe i would have what they call a bad trip. - rayzincrisp, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1That's nothing, the creepiest song from that show is the one that Santa sings that goes, "Come and sit on my lap today. A kiss a toy is the price you'll pay"
I have seen that song dropped many times. - LJRod82, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2Yup, my brothers and I make fun of this every year. Definitely an acid trip. I always loved the life drawing attempt at Jessica's cel drawing. My life drawing teacher always taught us to draw the nose by using wedges. You're supposed to go over the wedges and form the nose. It looks like they [Japanese "animagic" artists] just stopped at the wedges for Jessica. Still part of the Christmas movie repertoire though.
- PixelEater, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1This immediately gave me a headache. Maybe they had a reason to cut it?
- EntropyGun, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Perhaps I'm too far out on the limb here, but maybe they cut that scene so they can cram more commercials into the time slot.
- donttaseme, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1*SPOILER ALERT* Santa Claus isn't real.
- parolespedia, on 12/20/2007, -1/+0And she looks high while she is signing

http://www.parolespedia.com/paroles/t/the-rolling- ... - HolyHesus, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1The people making that section were frying on shrooms so hard.
- raoulduke87, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I was watching this movie on DVD the other night and I came across this song (which is deleated for TV usually) and I think the reason that it's not included anymore is because it's probably the worst song in the movie. And I also just noticed that Mrs. Claus (the young version, anyway) looks exactly like my wife, except she's less stop motion (my wife, not Mrs. Claus)..
- ZedSumGame, on 12/20/2007, -1/+0This isn't an acid trip per se, but it's laden with sexual imagery! At the moment she admits her love of Santa, and flower blooms alongside her. This is followed by a trip down a tunnel, then she is standing in splashing water! If it's cut from some versions, it's because of the blatant erotic symbolism.
- tehgherk, on 12/22/2007, -0/+0The colors man, the colors!
