‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ series first look

  • techblogLAT, on 07/11/2008, -3/+14The Clone Wars episodes are great. No surprise this will turn out to be better than any of the 3 newer movies. Also, George Lucas' senility didn't get to write the script so that's got something in its favor already!
    • banido, on 07/12/2008, -5/+5I seriously don't understand why people keep bashing George Lucas, I guess they keep forgetting that he is the main reason why Star Wars exists in the first place.
      By the way I liked the newest trilogy, especially Revenge of the Sith.
      But the way people like you keep whining, maybe you rather had none of it and go watch more romantic comedies about two heterosexuals in a gay cruise, or the endless movies about a weird guy and a hot girl falling in love, or maybe more Jackie Chan or Jet Li movies and all those Chuck Norris/Van Dame clones where all they do is kick and shoot people, yeah those are the good ones.

        What's wrong with RoTS? I think it was pretty good, way better than Episode I and II but I liked all of them, it's STAR WARS, like banido said, it beats watching most Hollywood movies.

        I think people like to criticize George Lucas just to make them look smart, they feel better about themselves because they act like they know better than the guy responsible for the biggest movie franchise in history, they certainly can't bitch about someone who makes movies like "Sex and the City" or "Kung Fu Panda" because we already know they're not worth it.

        I'm just glad I get to see some Star Wars material once in a while.

        -Jar jar
        -Terrible "romance" scenes that involve Hayden Christenson's dislike of sand.
        -Writing that involves the character going from "conflicted" to killing children, in about 5 minutes
        -Tons of incredibly obvious CGI, everywhere he can fit it onscreen
        -Midoclhorians

    I'll believe it when I see it. Tartakovsky's direction (hell, his use of wider shots alone) was brilliant. I work in a movie theater, and we have a trailer for the movie going constantly. In it, I still see some of the 'Extreme! up-close' camera work that made the Obi/Anakin fight in Episode 3 such an epileptic nightmare.

    Beyond quibbles about the direction, I feel like the Clone Wars era is pretty much played out between all the games and novels. I'd like to see the Thrawn trilogy adapted for the screen...
  • wexmajor, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2I don't get why it's 3D instead of 2D like the original Clone Wars shorts. 3D is better than 2D in some ways but it almost seems like a fad at this point, that they're forcing 2D character designs into 3D environments.
  • illustrick, on 07/12/2008, -3/+1.......can't star wars die and go away please. the first 3 made were decent, but the fact is george lucus sucks at telling stories, and has the worst adaptation of alien life....ever.....and even worse costume design, Guillermo del Toro and his designs are far superior, you actually feel they are alien/not of this world. while most of the ones in the star wars franchise(with exceptions) look like really bugged out crackheads, or something that came out of a nuclear explosion.
