Either that, or it wasn't grounded to that battery, and was grounded to something else. Cutting the positive wire from the battery should have done the trick. (see comment)

Just got done browsing it, pretty much all the strips in that comic fall flat. I can't believe this comic is eight years old and fails at the basic idea of comic writing. (see comment)
