Worst Jobs with the Best Pay

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - 7 hr 52 min ago
He may be partially correct. I think degrees from Carnage Mellon or MIT, etc. tend to be more focused on Engineering and not Information Technology. The school also makes a difference. I got a degree from the University of Michigan - Dearborn (Ranked 6 … (see comment)

Worst Jobs with the Best Pay

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - 8 hr 13 min ago
I live in one of the worst job markets in the U.S. (Metro Detroit), and there are still a lot of IT jobs out there. However, there are also a lot of people seeking those jobs. Like asdffdas1234 mentioned, HR departments have to weed out the good candida … (see comment)

Before any other teams had "trophy games", (1903) Michigan had to beat Minnesota to win back their water jug after the Minnesota coach told then Michigan coach Yost that Michigan would have to win it back. They've been playing for it ever since. The SI … (see comment)

The death of the credit card economy

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 09/03/2008
@Hamletlere I never understood that logic. If everyone is paying up to 6% extra, regardless of what method of payment they use, be it credit, debit, or cash, why would anyone not make their purchase on a credit card that gives them 1 - 5% cash back? Un … (see comment)

How Big Is Google? Heres Another Measure

Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 04/21/2008
I love Google, but lets put things into perspective, Google made $4.2 Billion on $16.59 Billion in revenue in 2007, with $17.2 Billion in the bank. That's a lot, right? Microsoft made $14 Billion on $51.1 Billion in revenue in the same period, and has a … (see comment)

Five Lost Cities Of The Future

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 04/18/2008
Well said. I recently took a tech job in Detroit's New Center area, just north of the new Tech Town area. Many people don't know this but Michigan ranks 4th nationally in high tech employment, and 2nd or 3rd nationally in R&D expenditures. Although the … (see comment)

"Plastic Card Tricks" - How Credit Card Companies Screw Us

Comment in News (4 diggs, 0 replies) - on 03/30/2008
The choice is get a loan from a bank - not build up debt on a credit card where the interest rate may change. The other choice is to actually save up to pay for something. Seems obvious. The cheapest way to pay for something is to save up. The sec … (see comment)

"Plastic Card Tricks" - How Credit Card Companies Screw Us

Comment in News (5 diggs, 0 replies) - on 03/30/2008
Why would anyone put a $10,000 charge on a credit card they cannot pay off in full at the end of that billing cycle? That's just plain irresponsible. If you need a $10,000 loan, go to a bank or credit union. If they refuse to give you the loan, it's pr … (see comment)

What PayPal does with your money?

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 02/28/2008
You shouldn't have any fees unless you accept credit card payments. If you do, your account is automatically "upgraded" to a business account - after that, you'll be charged a fee for every payment received. (see comment)

How the Credit Card Industry Makes You Their Slave

Comment in Videos (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 02/23/2008
Credit cards offer better rewards (I prefer cash back) than debit cards. The way fraud is handled with credit cards is friendlier to the consumer than with debit cards (see belly917's comment). Also, I haven't heard of a debit card that offers price pro … (see comment)

The 10 Most Miserable Cities in America

What we really need is a regional public transportation system besides the SMART/DDOT bus system to increase pedestrian traffic. That'll bring more restaurants and stores downtown, increase shopping, etc. Instead, what do they do? They tried to increas … (see comment)

The simplest and best argument I've heard against religion

Comment in Videos (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 01/31/2008
To that point... if you only "believe" in the parts of any religion that fit your own beliefs, what's the point of religion again? Why not just have your own beliefs? As the video pointed out, morality exists without religion. (see comment)

US Spending More on Military Than Rest of the World Combined

Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 12/29/2007
In fact, it's not possible to "pay off" a deficit. It's simply the difference between receipts and outlays in the budget. The debt increases every year by the budget deficit. The 2008 budget has a $239 Billion deficit. What's sad is that $261 Billion … (see comment)
