Want to read something funny, Sen. McCain? I mean, genuinely hysterical? Take a look at the memo distributed by your campaign manager, Rick Davis in early March, immediately after you officially secured the Republican nomination.
"It is critical," your campaign memo explained, "as we prepare to face off with whomever the Democrats select as their nominee, that we all follow John's lead and run a respectful campaign focused on the issues.... Throughout the primary election we saw John McCain reject the type of politics that degrade our civics, and this will not change."
Your campaign memo added that "overheated rhetoric and personal attacks" only serve to "distract" us, and that it was imperative that the campaign hold itself "to the highest standards."
That was nearly eight months ago, and it's hard to imagine even the most ardent McCain supporter agreeing, John McCain, that you're meeting the standards you set for yourself.

Despite Palin's recent annoyance with Couric’s questions, reporters asking tough, direct questions about where a candidate stands on issues is not "gotcha journalism” nor even cause for “annoyance”. Asked about Gibson's and Couric's questioning, Palin responded, "Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalism ethics all those years ago."
Well, golly gee and goldarnit, Sarah, you must have been sleeping through your classes. Journalism schools teach reporters to ask questions and, if the subject won't answer them, ask again. Don't settle for gibberish. Let the journalists do their job.
