1 in 3 chance Palin will become President if McCain elected

That is too horrifying to even contemplate. It's just not her mismanagement, utter lack of ethics or lack of experience. No. Sarah Palin is a member of a theologically extreme church, one that views history as in its "final dispensation" wherein Jesus is about to return and wherein America can help this event along by spurring the apocalypse by goading Israel into a war eternal with its Arab neighbors.

I'm not anxious for World War III and nuclear holocaust. Her extremist radical conviction is frightening. To me, Sarah Palin's grin looks like the grin of someone who doesn't feel she needs to think twice before pulling the trigger.

Sarah Palin: An Apostle of Alaska | Newsweek Politics: Campa

Sarah Palin is a member of a theologically extreme church, one that views history as in its "final dispensation" wherein Jesus is about to return and wherein America can help this event along by spurring the apocalypse by goading Israel into a war eternal with its Arab neighbors. Palin believes that the Iraq War was God's will, even though she admits that she hasn't been paying close attention to that war (oh my Lord!). She believes that drilling in Alaska's natural splendor is blessed with Providential Approval. She promotes policies based on her unshakable belief that she herself has a direct pipeline (no pun intended) to the Almighty's intentions.

Her religion tells her that her foes are for killing, that sex education is a sin, that early term abortion must be criminalized, putting offending women behind bars, even in cases of rape and incest.

A religion as radically extreme as Palin's sect that takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them is no religion.

Dear Gov. Palin: To say you believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest.

Before the Palin pick, Obama led McCain by 44 points among female Clinton backers. That jumped to a 54-point lead afterward, 75% to 21%, the poll said.

Those kinds of numbers have the activists thinking that if Palin lives up to her schoolgirl basketball nickname of Sarah Barracuda, she'll be less aquatic predator and more filet-o-fish."

I would add to this that nothing has changed fundamentally, as most people are starting to realize. Obama and Biden continue to frame the election and the issues in terms that matter most to women. Palin's policies, on the other hand, come from the misogynistic radical right.

As one of my fellow Diggers (I think it was JohnnySoftware, but I may be mistaken) said, paraphrasing: This new (and very late in the game) McCain approach sounds an awful lot like the dialogie from "O Brother Where Art Thou?":

Junior O'Daniel: "Well' he's the reform candidate, Daddy."
Pappy O"Daniel: "Yeah."
Junior O'Daniel: "A lot of people like that reform. Maybe we should get us some."
Pappy O"Daniel: "I'll reform you, you soft-headed son of a bitch. How we gonna run reform when we're the damn incumbent? Is that the best idea you boys can come up with? Reform?! Weepin' jesus on the cross. That's it! You may as well start drafting my concession speech right now."
