The Politics of Denial: On Senator Obama's Acceptance Speech

ashokashok sent a shout to kpearce   95 days ago
The trouble with "The American Promise" isn't that Senator Obama gave a bad speech - his speech was very good and very inspiring. Which is all the more reason he should have taken the time to attack the best Republican arguments, not create straw-men and spend more time talking about new programs than an actual change in orientation.

Is "The Dark Knight" worth all the hype? Given that it looks like a meditation on the themes of Redemption and Justice, and whether or not they are fully compatible, it probably is one of the most thoughtful movies to come along in a while.

This is a commentary on Nietzsche that starts by walking the reader through his words line-by-line. Why is it important? B/c Nietzsche in this text asserts that some music is bad, and the music he picks on is Wagner's: an attempted pagan revival at the expense of Christianity is attacked fiercely here.

Campaigning on the World Wide Web - Tactics and Strategy

ashokashok sent a shout to kpearce   167 days ago
Long, but tries to address why a campaign should educate even if its goal is merely victory. Rough answer: there is no such thing as simply "victory" when we are talking about policy and deliberation.
