As I often post in various places, this system of fighting spam will never scale. There is, in fact, only one solution, which is not only beautiful in its simplicity, but would completely and utterly eliminate all spam overnight: email postage. (see comment)

Just the other day I was thinking about the tape drive (a cassette player) that came with the first Apple I ever used. I think it was an Apple ][, but can't remember. Anyway, you had to press "record" to save your programs. This seems better. (see comment)
