The two essential Firefox extensions
Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 07/25/2008
If I had to pick two, especially for non-tech people, it would be Foxmarks and Flashblock, in fact these are the two that I installed for my wife on her accounts. A toolbar takes up too much space (I hate them), I can reach all of Google's services thro … (see comment)

I browsed the comments to see if someone had a link to the real source of the photo with more information. Thanks, you saved me some time searching, don't know why people are digging you down. (see comment)

Microsoft Expands Support for Web Standards
Comment in News (0 diggs, 0 replies) - on 03/04/2008
I think this is good news for the web, but "Consistent with its efforts to promote further interoperability across the Web" it is not. If anything Microsoft has been trying to impose its own "standards" on the web and has now hopefully realized that it mu … (see comment)

Why Opera Should Shutdown Operations
Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 12/30/2007
I am a strong Firefox fan and supporter, but I disagree completely with this article. Opera should stay if only to preserve some competition. Two players is not enough to create a dynamic market that stimulates development of the products. Opera has contr … (see comment)

The new SpreadFirefox has a focus on projects and groups. It seems a little more difficult to chat casually, however there is the Community @ SFx group on the new SpreadFirefox where you can chat about anything related to Firefox just like before: http:// … (see comment)

10 Smartest Ways to Live Beneath Your Means
Comment in News (6 diggs, 2 replies) - on 10/24/2007
The most important tips are missing: 1. Don't live in a bigger house/apartment than you really need. Two advantages: lower rent or interest payments and less space means you are more careful when buying stuff. 2. Never buy a new car. (In the extreme you … (see comment)

RSA 2007: Learn from my life as a fraudster and imposter - Frank Abagnale
Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 10/24/2007
Interesting read. Abagnale has probably been a great asset to the FBI. This check thing he talks about is indeed ridiculous, it surprises me that checks are still used. Seems to me moving to the 21st century should mean getting rid of checks. (see comment)

Microsoft loses anti-trust appeal
Comment in News (22 diggs, 0 replies) - on 09/17/2007
Apparently this case started in 1998 and Microsoft can still appeal to one higher court. But it's still something and at least good to know that Microsoft doesn't completely get away with its anti-competitive behavior. (see comment)

Stallman: are you ready to fight for freedom?
Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 09/12/2007
Is it OK to like both Stallman and Linus Torvalds? Because I do. They each play their role, I believe we benefit from things done by both these men. Without either Open Source/Free Software wouldn't be what it is today. (see comment)

BitTorrent Admin Monitored by US Government, Forced to Dump Linux
Comment in News (1 digg, 0 replies) - on 08/23/2007
Having to use windows certainly is a punishment. But what a lousy way to monitor the Internet activity of someone, since it's probably quite easy to circumvent. You'd think they'd want their monitoring software to run somewhere outside the control of som … (see comment)

"Uncle Mozilla" wants YOU to hack into Firefox
Comment in News (2 diggs, 0 replies) - on 08/01/2007
"Only one company thanked the open-source foundation. None has given Mozilla the feedback it would be grateful to hear regarding whether the tool was useful, Snyder said." Typical. Next time they should just release it immediately. (see comment)

Why copying is not stealing: If I steal your TV, you don't have it anymore. If I copy your music, you still have it. (see comment)
