How is this about welfare? According to the article, the iPhone became more affordable, and so folks with lower incomes were more able to afford it. Besides, the largest growth was in incomes between $25k and $75k. Not exactly people in the poorhouse. … (see comment)

I don't get that from the commercials...the cool vs. the uncoool thing. The Mac v. PC ads I always took as a metaphor for the machines themselves, not the actual users like the Microsoft campaign has interpreted it. Then again, I'm kind of a literalist. (see comment)
