It's 8 years old. That's pretty good for a laptop. Oh, and the power manager board isn't the most inaccessible bit. The PCMCIA card cage is, and I've had to replace one. Now that was fun. (see comment)

I don't think it'd add much to the heat, RAM doesn't use that much power. The 8GB disk for safe sleep, on the other hand, yeah. The 6GB one takes a while to write out. I'll try for 8Gb eventually. (see comment)

Yeah, if I booted up BootCamp with XP, it'd only recognise 3.something. XP 64-bit would work, but given what people with laptops that officially support it say, I'm not game to try it. It's only there for two games :) And yeah, as the screenshots show, I … (see comment)

The MBP casing is actually aluminium, BTW. They had to switch because titanium wasn't strong enough for the 17" model - it would bend too much (see comment)
