Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart Take More Swings at Geraldo & O'Reilly watch!
youtube.com — What are you implying Jon?! That OReilly and Geraldo are narcissits enthralled in their own overblow egos projecting their own petit inseciurities onto the world around them... inventing false enemies for the sole purpose of bolstering their sense of self-importance... Itty-bitty Nixons minus the relevance or hint of vision? How dare you!?!

- mikejant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Stewart and Colbert have always been funny, but they have really turned it up this summer. Bravo.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27I wish Stewart and Colbert would combine their shows and make on long super show that mocks Hannity and Colmes style reporting!
- npinski, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22You said it, mikejant.
I used to worship Jon Stewart, and I thought there was nothing better. I loved Stephen Colbert on his show, but only marginally more than Samantha Bee, Ed Helms, and Rob Cordry.
And when The Colbert Report came out, I was mildly excited, but there was some definite early growing pains.
Now? I am in _AWE_ at the mindboggling level of hilarity Colbert has reached, and that he even makes Stewart looks positively pedestrian by comparison. - DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4@binarypower

Did you think you were being subtle? Even if you were under the mistaken impression that that cliche is obscure, did you expect that digg users wouldn't have access to a book of phrases?
Google.it.*****.com - Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3Pot is illegal
- TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7We get it .. its just that it was about as funny as a truckload of burning babies that you got dugg down
- TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1(repeat)
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I see your point, except theres a difference between stewart/colbert and geraldo/oreilly. Stewart and colbert are comedians, geraldo and oreilly are douchebags. This may make stewart and colbert a little childish, but its still damn funny. Plus they have a point (the quotation in the description of this digg submission), whereas geraldo and oreilly are just trying to convince themselves that stewart and colbert are not blowing up, so they don't actually have to pay attention to what they say, and can go on living in their own fked up worlds.

- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I watched this earlier today and I was laughing so incredibly hard, especially when they pulled in the clip of Geraldo in a storm.
- davidro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Do Colbert and Stewart run fresh episodes all summer?
Hope so, because I just impulsively purchased multipasses via iTunes... - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -26/+4lets just have streaming daily shows and colbert reoports nightly on diggs home page
then we can talk about them!- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18You know if you dont like it, dont digg it. Bitching, no matter how sarcasticly, is pointless and about as productive as trying to have a rational discussion with O'Reilly.
- DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6Hey, noeljohnhoward, go ***** yourself!
- jetpig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11better yet... CUT HIS MIC!
- victoryroadrage, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Has Geraldo ever seen the Daily Show or Colbert Report?
When have they ever shown old ladies falling on ice?
He's just upset that Geraldo at Large is a piece of crap.- obendega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The irony here is priceless.
The Daily Show markets itself as fake news while Fox News calls itself fair and balanced. Yet here is Giraldo blatantly making something up. Since the Daily Show is on comedy central Giraldo describes its content as nothing but the basest humor, laughing at a helpless person's pain and misfortune, when it is really incredibly smart satire. Well done satire like the Daily Show actually helps you think about situations and look at them from a different point of view.
Giraldo in his attempt to flaunt his superiority actually shows us who is the REAL fake news show.
- obendega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The irony here is priceless.
- chandler, on 10/12/2007, -18/+4After watching Colberts eyes in that clip it really seems like he's reading a cue card... :/
- wbbb617, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12oh and all the network newscasters memorize a half-hour's worth of news
- chandler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just saying... something clever like that would be easily memorized if he had actually wrote it himself.
- sh0k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12And what, exactly, is Geraldo's contribution to society?
- DigitalMatter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Well, he revealed all the secrets within Capone's vault. That's something... oh wait...
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7He provides an excellent example of how to be an idiot.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well, there was that one time when he gave away secret us troop positions in Iraq over national television.. and then he was banned from being an imbeded reporter... oh wait, I dont think that counts.
- imdeanlabouty, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2This was on the front page yesterday, with a different name.
- imdeanlabouty, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1...Or maybe not the front page. Though I know I saw this on digg yesterday. Oh well. =/
- DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I dugg another one with the same video earlier - still awesome.
- PhiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Been a big fan for a long time - have to admit I didn't think Colbert's show was going to fly - but it's amazingly funny - the man is a comic genius. Geraldo is an idiot - doesn't get it and is losing his mind with jealousy.
- saichele, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4just brilliant.
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Silly Geraldo, they don't show clips of old ladies slipping on ice, they show clips of you drawing in the sand and then make fun of you for giving away U.S. military secrets.
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ Warnzlee
Your comment inspired me, man... you brought up the perfect counter-point to Geraldo's "old ladies lsipping on ice" crack. So I thought it would be a shame if we never heard from Geraldo again about his comments... someone had to NAIL him and share his answers with everyone else :) And what luck! I have some free time this afternoon...
How hard could it be to track Geraldo down and get a quick soundbyte out of him? I know nothing about media relations... but nothing happens unless you try!
So I found this page that included a phone number to Geraldo's show, Geraldo At Large:
http://www.jpfo.org/hollywood2.htm
I called the line and said that I was calling from the "Toronto Free Press" and that I was wondering how to get in touch with Geraldo River for a question regarding his coments about the Colbert Show on Comedy Central...
At first the lady wanted to forward me to some "comment" voice mail system where I could leave a message... but I pressed on.
I asked if the comment system was spcifically for members of the press to get in touch with Geraldo or if it was just for the general public/viewers of the show. She said it was for regular viewers of the show...
So I asked again if there was a way for the Press to specifically contact him for a question....
She then asked if I was indeed from the press.. and I repeated "Yes.. the Toronto Free Press in Toronto, Canada."
She went quiet... ruffled a few papers. I heard her say to someone else ".. a member of the press..." and then she came back and said she would forward me to (some name) who would be able to "send me through the right channels" and "address my questions..."
Success! I got passed the first barrier... Now suddenly I was beginning to wonder what sort of concequences there were to impersonating members of the press. I got a little worried as I was waiting for the transfer...
Eventually the line started ringing again and the person's voicemail picked up.
Damn.
I wasn't about to leave a message of me impersonating someone from the press so I hung up.
I won't try it again... but if there is someone else out there with big enough balls to go through with it, I'd love to see you try!
I'm sure Colbert would be proud of your big brass ones :D - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Aw guys... what's so wrong with picking up the phone and taking 5 minutes and see if it's possible to call Geraldo? I usually spend 5-10 minutes reading/writing comments anyway. This time I chose something different in response to the story...
I constantly read stories on Digg that make me just want to throttle someone... or at least have them explain what the ***** their talking about. So instead of just complaining about it... i tried this. and i'll do it again to the next time i want to find out more about something. - Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks dawgma, it put a huge smile on my face and made my day to see you go out of your way to try and confront Geraldo, especially after my comment.
I just wish I had the brass balls to impersonate the press and then inflitrate my way to Geraldo, although, my brother does work for a local news stations, but he just does weather :- - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cheers Wamzlee ;)

- samdu, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2This was stunningly awesome. However... The constant front page status of anything and everything Colbert/Stewart is getting old. Just get cable/satellite for the love of Pete. This particular item probably deserves front page status, but not every clip from the two shows does. Settle down folks...
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you don't like it... too bad... others do. That's why it's being dugg. Some ppl want to discuss this because they like it... it will settle down when people stop finding it interesting.
If you don't want to see it, I would recommend getting the greasemonkey script for digg from UserScripts.org like the Digg DeNoofier that will block posts that you don't want to hear about based on keywords. Just add colbert stewart and the stories will be gone.

- triath, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Shame there isn't a way to block content from one category/sub category.
- Hensworth, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9Am I the only one who noticed Colbert's ring tone is John Ashcroft singing? I love Colbert's subtlety.
- mikejant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2That was Tom Delay
- anachronaut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No, it was John Ashcroft singing "Let the Eagle Soar", a song he wrote and performed. Have you been living under a rock? People have been making fun of this wretched song for years...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riKGGWFqnH8
- NumberFour, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2They should just make a CC sub-category.
- quokkapox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6The key point is that these crackpots on FOX and CNN headline news (glenn beck et al) don't matter so much anymore. The people who will be voting this fall are laughing heartily at them.
- bigdaddyk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Don't forget Alan Colmes is one of your own, you liberals. I'd bet my life you lose again in November, you are all so out of touch with everyone but other kids under 25 who haven't tasted the real world yet.
- anachronaut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"Don't forget Alan Colmes is one of your own, you liberals."
Oh noes~!!! You used the "L" word. That's a devastating attack, I never saw it coming.
Surely you jest if you're insinuating that Alan Colmes actually speaks for the progressives/liberals out there. The very idea is positively laughable.
Alan Colmes is nothing but a stooge in a dunking booth; he's just filling the role of a pitifully weak, easy target intended to be scorned, laughed at and brushed off. I'm sure you know that already and were just joking/trolling around. - Vermifax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Thank God I'm a Liberal! :-D
- anachronaut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"Don't forget Alan Colmes is one of your own, you liberals."
- rs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There is a certain rich irony to that accusation considering its source...
and I like both Colbert and Stewart; they're funny. But in this case I suspect the meta-humor is unintentional.- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1unintential? can you explain what you mean? what exactly is this "meta-humor" that you're talking about?
if you don't hear from you again i guess i will just assume you realized your comment was a mistake...
